This Convention is ill timed and a contempt of the order of the Court of Appeal for the parties to maintain status quo. With what they have done, I have no doubt that the SC will send them back to FHC for the full trial of the case, and the FHC is going to nullify all the craps that they have done now. I hope nobody will be shouting APC then
And to think that Olumide Akpata a former Nigerian Bar Association President in involved in the contemptuous act!

Christianity Etc › Re: Prosperity Gospel Does Not Exist; There Is Only The Gospel Of Christ,” Osinbajo by zoedew: 12:38am On Apr 14
TheRareGem1:
Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has dismissed the concept of the “prosperity gospel”, a Christian belief that financial blessing and physical well-being are always God’s will for believers.

Mr Osinbajo, a pastor, stated that no such doctrine existed in Christian teaching while responding to Korede Komaiya, the presiding pastor of The Master’s Place International Church, during their appearance at a live debate held at Rock of Ages Christian Assembly International (RACAi).

Speaking on the debate topic, the prosperity gospel, Mr Komaiya said he found it difficult when people complained about it.

He added that he was unsure whether some churches preached giving without diligence, noting that it was biblical to encourage giving while maintaining balance.

He said, “ I don’t even understand what people are saying. Excuse me, I can’t get it. Biblical prosperity is correct, authentic, original, Godly, and is to be used for the sake of the gospel; God prospers His own. It is activated by giving. You are not to be greedy. You are to work. You are to labour. You are to be intelligent. You are to have value; you are to be a tither. You are to have a ministry. You are to have a prophet. You are to give to people in need and to people experiencing poverty.

The covenant is the covenant, economic situation notwithstanding, circumstances notwithstanding. My submission is this: let’s come back to the balance. You practice the covenant, you embrace productivity. You embrace engagement; we can’t go to the extreme. You can’t just give. You must give sacrificially. You must work as if everything depends on it. Giving alone can’t do it, working alone can’t do it, a combination of the two is what makes the gospel work.”

Enter Osinbajo
Meanwhile, Mr Osinbajo, 69, countered Mr Komaiya, stating that there was only the gospel of Christ.

The former Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice stressed that attempts to redefine it in terms of material wealth misrepresented its true message.

“The New Testament, no matter how we slice it, we may call it anything, the prosperity gospel, with all due respect, there is no such thing. There is only a gospel, the gospel of Jesus Christ, there is only one gospel and it’s a gospel and it’s a whose words are contained in this scripture. Anything else is a perversion; anything else, there are many types of success.

The example that the pastor gave is an interesting example where some people were bribed, people are always going to be bribed, but that does not in any way detract from the fact that when Jesus Christ, the author of our faith, satan tried to bribe him, He said look I’ll give you all this, He refused. That is the ultimate message of the Bible”, said Mr Osinbajo.

The lawyer added that the Bible’s ultimate message is that truth will prevail, no matter how long it takes.

According to him, the gospel will prevail, and it does not matter what anyone does at any time or who falls.

The scripture
Furthermore, Mr Osinbajo maintained that scripture makes it clear that many will be swayed by bribery and fall for money, but only the truth of the gospel will sustain people to the end.

He added that he had been in ministry since 1996 and had rarely encountered churches where giving to the church or institution was not a prominent part of the service.

He noted, “If you read the scriptures carefully especially the New Testament, the number of times that Jesus spoke about giving to the poor, that giving to the poor means giving to Him, to God the number of times, the sheer number of times that Jesus Christ said even this business of building riches, building riches in heaven is given to the poor.

“The number of times in this New Testament, but if you are going to be honest with yourselves. How often is it preached? There is a portion of the service dedicated to that before the offering. The question is, why do we not emphasise what this scripture says?”

Politics › Re: Turaki, Others, Is It Worth It ? by zoedew: 12:34am On Apr 14
BlakKluKluxKlan:
It is often said that whatever is worth doing at all is worth doing well or, put in another way, is better done well. This tend to warn us that before you embark on any project or human endeavor, you need to make very critical, objective, assessment or your ability as well as capability in diverse manners, to see it through. I like to think that this dictum was the backdrop behind the idea of Feasibility Projects or Market Surveys prelude to starting a major project or business. Relating this to the current politicking going on in Nigeria, I will advise the duo of Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Amaechi, etc. I dare say that if they contracted an outfit well verses in the game to do a Feasibility Survey on their chances against Tinubu in the 2027 elections, they will be advised to shelve it. All the indices point in no other direction. Let us go down memory's lane. During the Obj-Atiku presidency, it was an open secret that there was no love lost between the duo and Tinubu as the governor of Lagos state. They were sworn enemies. Obj used both trickery and brigandage backed by the power of incumbency to wrest 5 SW states from the AD party minus Tinubu's Lagos state. Tinubu took his time, went back to his drawing board, restrategize and won back all those states from the opposition platform without rigging.

Fast forward to 2223 election race. The opposition against Tinubu was both fierce, pervading and overwhelming such that it would actually drown an ordinary mortal, but not so the Jagaban. Both the APC leader and chairman were against him. The annointed candidate of the entire Fulani cabal, including the Miyetti Allah, was Ahmad Lawan. The entire SE APC leaders were against him. The naira design policy was specifically targeted against him. He quietly strategized and his salvo and as they say, the rest is history.

Only morons or clowns will believe that 2023 election was rigged in favour of Tinubu-APC. Quite the opposite. Rather, the APC in Lagos went to sleep and allowed the desperate and daring obidients to rig them out in Lagos ! If there was an attempt to rig for APC, Tinubu would NEVER have lost in Lagos, Plateau, Katsina, Nasarawa, Osin and Kaduna States. This just the simple and logical truth. Take it or leave it. I even heard from a Villa insider source that Tinubu prayed Buhari to replace Mahmoud, the INEC chairman but was politely turned down. Tinubu's intention to reverse his misfortune in the FCT with performance and service delivery informed his choice of Nyesome Wike as the FCT minister. This paid dividends as reflected in the AMAC election results.

With a man like this in the driving seat, with reforms to reposition the economy showing positive signs plus the power of incumbency, can anyone in his right frame of mind believe that he can be defeated ? In addition, consider the fact that the ruling party appears to be more focused and serious planning for the election than the so-called opposition.
Delusion is a fatal phenomenon!

Politics › Re: Eze Ndigbo Fires Back At FG, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Over Diaspora Title Ban by zoedew: 7:12am On Apr 13
Prevail123:
A prominent Igbo traditional leader in the diaspora, His Highness Ezeigbo Nkem-Alakammadu, has issued a strongly worded rebuttal to the Federal Government and Ohanaeze Ndigbo following recent moves to ban or delegitimize the use of the “Eze Ndigbo” title outside Nigeria.

In a “Royal Proclamation and International Position Statement” released for global circulation, the Canada-based monarch defended the legitimacy of the Ezeigbo institution in the diaspora, describing attempts to abolish or restrict it as “legally baseless” and lacking jurisdiction.

The statement emphasized that no Nigerian authority — including government agencies, socio-cultural groups, or traditional councils within Igboland — has constitutional or customary powers beyond Nigeria’s territorial borders.

“Under international law, sovereignty is territorial. Cultural expression outside a state’s borders falls under the jurisdiction of the host nation, not the country of origin,” the proclamation stated.

Ezeigbo Nkem-Alakammadu further argued that diaspora leadership structures such as Eze Ndigbo operate strictly within cultural and community frameworks, exercising no political or governmental authority that could conflict with host nations.
Citing legal protections in countries such as Canada and the United Kingdom, he noted that freedoms of association, expression, and cultural identity safeguard the right of Igbo communities abroad to organize and adopt traditional titles.

The monarch also dismissed concerns that the use of the title “Eze” could undermine state authority, describing such claims as “false, misleading, and legally unfounded.”
On the controversy surrounding nomenclature, particularly suggestions to replace “Eze” with alternatives like “Onyendu,” he described the debate as superficial.

“The disagreement is not about function but merely terminology. No authority has demonstrated any law prohibiting the use of ‘Eze’ outside Igboland,” he said.
Highlighting the evolving nature of Igbo traditions, the statement noted that cultural practices have long adapted to changing environments, including in diaspora settings.

The Ezeigbo maintained that the institution plays a vital role in uniting Igbo communities abroad, promoting cultural preservation, resolving disputes, and sustaining language and identity across generations.

He also criticized what he described as misplaced priorities, arguing that efforts to suppress diaspora leadership detract from addressing pressing challenges within Nigeria, including economic hardship and governance issues.

In a firm closing declaration, the monarch asserted that the Ezeigbo institution in the diaspora remains “lawful, legitimate, and culturally necessary,” insisting that no external body has the authority to abolish or redefine it.

He called on Igbo leaders worldwide, host governments, and cultural organizations to recognize the role of Eze Ndigbo as purely cultural leadership and to promote dialogue over what he termed misinformation.

“The Igbo identity does not end at the shores of Nigeria,” he declared. “Wherever Igbo people reside, there exists a living culture and a legitimate structure of leadership.”
Not unexpected. The Igbo are a fiercely Republican People!

Politics › Re: “I Want A Country Where You Don’t Need Connection To Succeed” – Peter Obi Speaks by zoedew:
davidotokiblog1:
Peter Obi has made fresh comments on opportunity, unemployment, and corruption in Nigeria, sparking conversation online.

Speaking during a recent engagement, he shared experiences that highlight what he believes should change in the country.

According to him, a pilot once approached him and said he benefited from a scholarship he provided. He also mentioned a Reverend Father who said the same, despite never meeting him personally.

He used these examples to stress the need for a system where people can succeed based on merit rather than connections.

“I want a country where people can attain certain positions without knowing anyone,” he said.

Obi also spoke about the state of employment in Nigeria, recalling a moment in Abuja where a man working at a restaurant told him he was a first-class graduate.

The comment reflects a wider concern about underemployment and the struggles many qualified Nigerians face.

In addition, he made a strong statement on corruption:

“Any contractor who can come forward with evidence that they received a contract under my government and that I asked for a percentage, I will quit politics.”

His remarks have since generated mixed reactions, with some agreeing with his views on merit and accountability, while others question how realistic such changes are in the current system.

👉 The conversation around merit, jobs, and governance continues to grow among Nigerians.
Playing on people’s emotions is what Peter Obi specializes at. Peter Obi relied on Ojukwu connection to get political ascendancy only to turn around and betray him!
