A proud zikite. University of the moment is what we call her. No wonder the school was the second most sought after unilag by jambites last year. So haters pls shut your mouth. With the present pace of development, i'm sure unizik will be among the best in africa come 2020
PoliticsRe: Name National Library After Achebe: Reps To FG by Zonacom(m): 10:37am On Mar 27, 2013
Akshow: in the league of mandela? HahaHaha i laugh in Spanish. Comparin death and sleep. Comparin life and death. Fyi Mandela fought for all not for his clan. He never believed his people are superior than others as achebe erroneously believed. He love and fought for the common goal of all black and coloured people not jus for his clan So What is the basis of your comparison. Pls dont rubbish Mandiba and drag his name into your Nairaland tribalism.
YES! Achebe is in the league of mandela and others like the great zik of africa. These people were pace setters in their areas of endeavour. Mandela fought for the freedom of his people physically and politically, so did zik and others. In the case of achebe HE HELPED TO LIBERATE AFRICA MENTALLY. Have you taken time to read about some of his achievements? He single handedly corrected the evil notion the outside world had about africa. Before achebe and his likes, the whites who'd never been to africa thought the continent was just a hell-hole. So i repeat HE IS IN THE LEAGUE OF MANDELA AND OTHERS. Everybody must not go to prison. Mandela even said in his tribute, that it was in the company of achebe's novel that the prison walls came crashing

The most anoying thing to me now is that recently, any news of mass death in this country no longer sound bizare to me, i'm begining to take them as normal occurences, and that makes me fear. Am i loosing my sense of human pity or what? I'm worried

Achebe wrote his memoir of the civil war. In his words, i say to you haters: 'If you dont like achebe's memoir, write yours'. Cant you guys just see that your envious criticisms cant remove anything from achebe's achievement? You ask what his contributions were to nigeria, was he the governor of your state or the president of your country? As a writer, he brought out not just nigeria but the whole africa the way it is to the world and you guys sit before your monitor and type rubish. HATING IS A DISEASE. PLS STOP HATING

Enough cannot be said of this man. A lot of writers today have their base on achebe's style. His skill of translating ancient igbo proverbs to english and still making them retain their real meanings is one of the things i loved him for. Pete edochie and other users of proverbs in nollywood, i'm sure learnt from this man. Hate him or love him, he was one of the greatest men this country have ever produced. No wonder, he was named the most popular african by forbes. Your nairaland hall of shame would never have anything to do with his biography, so stop hating. * in MI's voice... For haters who would wana say somtin, hav u eaten 2day??*
PoliticsRe: Prof Chinua Achebe Is Dead! by Zonacom(m): 10:43pm On Mar 22, 2013
funkymama: Nigeria ke shocked shocked shocked

Bro, that's taking it too far oh.

What you should be asking about are his contributions to his erosion stricken Ibo land before he died undecided

What legacy did he leave behind for his people? undecided

All he did was stay at Yankee and CRITICISE

We know all Awolowo did for yoruba land. There's no need to go into full details wink
Achebe was a writer, a very acomplished one and not a politician. Though he ventured into politics at a time, but he left because of the coruption there. About what he did for igbo land, he made the igbo culture a subject of interest all over the world with his books to the extent that the igbo tradition became a reference point to the study of Africa as a whole. Forbes named him the most popular african. Just stop hating

Sumary of the pope's homily: PROTECTION. Its our responsibility as humans to protect each other. Joseph protected jesus and mary, individuals in the family and the larger society are to protect each other. And if i should add, here in nig and nairaland especially, igbo should protect yoruba and hausa and so on. But i doubt if that will ever hapen
