Hang in there. I have been there and seen it all. Finished uni in 2008. But I got my first good job in 2015 and now based permanently abroad. During those years of earning 10k - 25k per month before 2015 wasn't easy at all, but somehow I made it past those days. Hold on and be strong, you shall come out better.

I see you referenced my thread @op lol.
Ok, so I've been to quite a number of churches abroad.. I'll share a quick summary of my impression/experiences so far:

Christ Embassy: Very cult-like, they literally worship Chris Oyakilome like a god. I've been to services where the congregation (alongside the resident pastor) just sits for the entire service, watching video clips of their 'daddy in the lord'. Then they will pressure you to purchase his books (e.g. rhapsodies of reality) They all talk and act the same way and are often fond of misquoting the Bible for selfish/ ridiculous agendas. I've personally experienced a few Christ embassy guys quote the Bible while trying to get down with me.. like wtf! .fornication doesn't seem to be a sin to them because "love" covers a multitude of sins lipsrsealed. They also tend to date and marry within the cult - you will hardly see a Christ Embassy member choosing a spouse from any other church.

KICC: This church has a reputation of being a shallow prosperity focused church but surprisingly, the members are such lovely people. Though they like to speak init lingo by force cheesy
The main headquarters tend to preach prosperity gospel a lot. However, smaller branches scattered around other cities outside London are usually very friendly and Christ focused (they may be small in congregation but are usually such a tight knitted, supportive family of believers).

RCCG: These are the absolute worst when it comes to prejudice and classism and the 'Jesus House' branch (London) is the main headquarters of such. Just make a mistake and go there dressed in a casual manner, you will regret your life! a church where intimidation thrives. Low income earners can never be given ministerial/pastoral roles. Who you are in society determines the respect you get. Positions are given to people not based on spiritual soundness but on how much you earn, package yourself and speak Christianese. I know husband beaters, wife batterers and child abusers who are currently in ministerial positions at RCCG. A male friend of mine told me of a supposed family man who is secretly a homosexual who has been appointed as a pastor at a particular branch because he is a medical doctor - he knows the man is gay because he tried to get down with him!
To sum of my point, what you will find in these churches: ungodly living, unhealthy competition, gossip, people looking down on low earners/those who don't know how to dress. Although, if you are a typical shallow minded, cunning and rugged Nigerian, you may fit right in!

Other black churches (VPA, New Wine etc..) Scandalous. very scandalous churches. Either the pastors are involved in one scandal or another, or there is heavy rumour mongering amongst the congregation.

White Baptist or Anglican Churches: Extremely boring!

White Pentecostal churches: Praise and worship is like a Mumford &Sons concert : bright lights, huge band on stage, loud music where everyone jumps up and down during service. You may come across a few black people here and there but will find that they are often disenfranchised and not properly integrated within the church community. They show acceptance to blacks but it's often shallow (if you know what I mean).

Ghanian churches (like Lighthouse): Generally ok churches. Not much drama and the true members stick together like family. You tend to find a few Nigerians in these churches as well.. the ratio would be 70% Ghanaian 30% Nigerian. If you're looking for a black church with less 9ja like dramatics, go to lighthouse. Oh and brace yourself to always shout "mercy", "preach it!" during sermon cheesy

Wow, excellent. You don Waka churches O. The one you described about the church that starts with R is true. Na there I go see rubbish. Note: not all those people you see in church with big cars and dress well earn big. Trust me them fit don immerse themselves into huge debt just to show off in church. I know some of them wey I get more cash in my acct pass because me no dey pay tithe, seed or borrow or spend above my means. What am telling you is fact. As a Naija newcomer, as you hold unto Ur naija upbringing, put efforts in immersing urself in the culture and people of Ur new home. You will be surprised how fast you will grow. Every Nigerian abroad must not be doctor, nurse, care giver or engineer. Mingling with other ethnicity might not be easy but after some time you will get to understand how things work on a wider society. Join political party for grassroots if you have passport, try side business, be free and not be constantly in competition with Nigerians. Not being in a Nigerian church helps with these things

I attend a Nigerian church Redeemed in Houston and is one of the best decisions ever
You can’t just conclude all Nigerian churches are bad
This particular church is a good one and really helps it’s members
They allowed my sister to bring her twins to their daycare for two years without paying
Even now what the are paying is below the normal rates
The help new immigrants to become comfortable
And can even be coming to your house to take you to church if you don’t have a car
The assist you a lot
It’s really a nice church
Even my son I have registered him to their daycare without paying but due to corona he has not been going
This church is a life saver
It’s a small church so no much gossip
I love this church

Yes Daddy and Mummy crew. Lol

The set of Nigerian youths going abroad now are more of over entitled and spoilt kids who all they know is professional job. People that travelled back in the days that made far more money and invested in Nigeria were not this lazy and 'professional job' entitled. What happened to cashing out in the numerous opportunities in these countries, you already have the advantage of having 'hard currency' and easier travelled for those with foreign passport or PR. Stop whining on NL or Twitter, get to work. For those doing blue collar job, keep the good work and think of owning a company that provide a blue collar job/service that you have mastered.

Despite the Covid, I would say Covid for me has been a blessing in disguise. Yes, its not the best of times especially for some people. I worked at the Casino and was shut down, but I have other source of income going. BUT THEN AGAIN, I had 4 jobs and 3 on the line that I declined. Now, don't get it twisted, even though, I was lucky, so many people are still having issue getting a job.
The job market here in Australia is mostly about recommendation.
But never have the mindset like Lagos hustle, its not easy maintaining your time, studying at the same time and regulating your mental health. So in short, I encourage you to try. PREPARE FOR THE UGLY,BAD AND GOOD.

Bro I finished uni in Melbourne in 2017. Then things were easier not easy.. Am only advicing people coming in now. You that got jobs during covid, U are already here before covid. Don't compare with a newbie just landing at this time.

God bless you to being truthful. I wonder why people still running here for study at this time. They should hold all the money needed for all their studies O.

Hi everyone! So I was at my brother's house yesterday and could you believe his wife cooked rice for me and served me with a meat shocked I mean just a meat.

This is the person that knows how choosy I could be when it comes to eating.

I'd recall vividly before my brother married her, then when I visit my brother at his place I do the cooking and the least meat/fish I'd always dish my food with could be two or three.
But I have been wondering how on earth would she serve me her in-law with just a meat.
This is an insult of the highest order, like I'm gonna need to call my brother's attention to it.

Well at the end of the day I had no choice than to eat the food like that with the one meat she served me. The food self no sweet.

If you like bant me, it's none of my fuvking business.

Poor Yoruba man, go to KFC and buy fried chicken and eat. Ode!

Omoh sack them all and do a fresh recruitment. The bad eggs are much, before they ruin your effort.

Naive and young advice. Sacking people and not giving them and their families sudden hard times is not the answer. The OP is doing a great job. He doesn't need to sack anybody unless they do something wrong that warrants a sack. OP only needs to grow a tough skin against gossip. This is something that comes with maturity. He will get there .

Just to encourage u. If U are in a hard time, take any job and grow gradually. If U have other opportunities due to Ur economic background then don't just take any shitty job. After I finished NYSC in 2010, my first salary was N10k, hated teaching but broke. Moved to diff school paying 20k and then N30k all in 3 cities. Did teaching for about 5 years even though I hated the job. Got engineering job N150k. After 1yr plus. Jah abroad. On $60k/annum after tax in the last two years. The journey of life is personal.

The B.itch thinks she is better than the 25 other housemates, refusing to honour what she signed which includes media tour. She doesn't need the media houses or radio station, she should go and continue her Instagram nonsense. As for the death threats, I do not support that length of entremity but, to be fair to other housemates and BBNaija sponsors Dotun should not interview her atleast for the next 2 yrs.

My cousin who got married this year July is actually thinking of leaving the marriage because the husband was diagnosed of Kidney failure and needs a transplant. The summary of the story is that the family of the man is expecting the newly married wife to donate one of her kidney to the man because my cousin is biological match to the husband, she and her family has said LAI LIA O, that his their child and they should find a way to go about it. After dragging this issues for some months na, my cousin family are pushing her to file for a divorce

a. would it be considered wickedness on her part considering, his not only the husband but PARTLY trained her in school too?

The marriage is less than a year no much money to even look for a seller, Aunty want to japa and leave the man

What do you think?

It's actually not by force to donate kidney but out of love which I think she doesn't love her husband to the extent of donating a kidney. The moral here is that most marriages especially in Nigeria are not built on love, but on societal perspectives. So make sure U have mutual love with Ur partner before marriage.
