RareDiamond: There was a change of purpose clause. You can see its wearing a different look. http://dailyindependentnig.com/2014/07/okorocha-dedicates-ahiajoku-convention-centre-imo-chamber-commerce/ Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has re - modified the Ahiajoku convention centre in the state to serve as the Imo Chamber of Commerce , Trade and Industry. Briefing newsmen while on inspection of the project , Okorocha said the decision followed the growing need to harness the rich economic potentials of the State in the areas of commerce , trade and industry as well as to provide a more condusive business environment for both local and foreign investors in the State . 1 Like |

Note: OBJ was able to become president of Nigeria without support from the SW becos retired military generals from the north wanted him or no body from the south. Things have changed. abagoro: Your a chronic lair, no state in Igboland is independent, we are rather inter-dependent on one another to survive. your anti Igbo agenda here will always meet brick walls because Igbos are working together like never before, Tonimas in Abia, Orange Drugs in Anambra , Innoson and Ibeto in Enugu and Ebony, Nnaji in Abia. Stella Oduah was instrumental in making AIIA Enugu a reality while Peter Obi protested when airlines stopped using it to airlift pilgrims, Aba and Onitsha have started exploring the Eastern Corridors for economic and business expansion and integration. www.punchng.com/news/obi-protests-non-use-of-enugu-airport-for-pilgrimage/ businessdayonline.com/2014/11/onitsha-businesses-look-to-aba-for-south-east-corridor-expansion/#.Vb8z_-tw17o www.bullsnbearsng.com/2014/11/onitsha-businesses-look-to-aba-for.html?m=1 Tell another lies how Igbos are not working together again let me bust it you. NOTE: Ndi Imo anybody that is following abagworo to fight Anambra people should look deeper for a proper soul searching before the guy plunge us into mess. I can see he is here to infiltrate our congregation and many people are buying into his charade. 1 Like 1 Share |

My brother we are all inter-dependent on each other. The Igbo Vs Anambra division in nairaland was sown, nourished and developed by anti Igbo supremacists like Chino and Odenigbo who move from Imo, Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi propagating their m0ronic attributes; even anioma Igbos like Onenaira, Igboboy and many others have been made to avoid Igbo threads due to very unkind words from Chino. Abagworo also have a fair share of the blame because of his unwarranted poke nosing into issues that does not concern him and his unintelligent use of the word "IGBOTIC". His tendency to make false controversial comments that undermines the pride of the Igbo nation is also a minus. BUT WHEN YOU COMPARE HIM WITH CHINO AND ODENIGBO, YOU WOULD SEE THAT HE IS A LESSER EVIL AND HAS CAUSED LESS DAMAGE TO IGBO UNITY THAN CHINO AND ODENIGBO, IF TRUTH BE TOLD. AnambraDota: 4 Likes |

Nature129: I have said it times without number that Okorocha's free education is a waste of money. To be rich you don't have to go the university. Basic and sound education from primary to secondary is enough. Education is different from schooling! Technical n entrepreneurial training is far more better. 1 Like |

Industrialization is very important. It is not something utopian. Look at Singapore nd Taiwan. The problem is that unintelligent people govern us. What prevents Imo state government from building small scale refineries. It can then buy products from Nnpc refine and sell to its citizens. What about floating a company in the states name. It can even own properties and investments outside the state. The money Europe enjoys today was made from Africa. Our leaders are clowns. They only pursue populist policies which are usually useless. We need visionary people like Mbakwe. 4 Likes |

Nature129: University education is aimed to IMPROVE THE QUALITY of a society's population - not necessarily to enable graduates to get jobs. By the time Orlu gets a full-fledged public university, you may start to insist we stop establishing universities. Owerri has about three public-financed universities now, Okigwe is served with the one at Uturu. Business people establish industries - not government. Government only provides the enabling environment for industries. If the governors from Orlu who had governed Imo state had known the importance of public - not private - university in an area, Orlu wouldn't have remained short-changed like this. Even in times of global economic recession, industries and private universities can fold up, but towns and cities with government universities still remain vibrant. 1 Like |
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Nature129(m): 4:57pm On Aug 04, 2015 |
millionaireman: I insist Imo doesn't need more universities. Everyone must not go to the university - I don't even know where we got this university mentality from. You must not go to the university to be literate. Just a few should go. Nigeria needs youths with technical skills to propel its growth not bunch of unemployable degree holders. University degrees don't put food on the table, skills do. Most Americans don't go to the universities because their system is designed to discover the natural ability (skill) of a child and develop it - we must learn from them. Also, skill explains why a school leaver from the Japan and China will come to Nigeria and be a boss to a PhD holder. Yes, he has the skills to solve problem but we just memorise theories (formulae and principles) in books. These people know what we don't know. Look at rich kids like Wizkid, Davido, Bow Wow, Rihanna, Chris Brown, and even Bill Gates and Mark Zukerberg...the list is just endless. They made fame and fortune because they developed their skills and kept "university" by the side. This 6-3-3-4 thing has taken us back for far too long. The world has moved and we have to keep pace with the trend. Creating more universities means creating more problems because universities don't even teach what we need to succeed in life. I'm a living witness. Today Innoson owns a motor plant and he's employing the so-called graduates - am sure you know that no Nigerian university taught him that. Discovering talents and developing them are key - we don't need to have universities scattered all over the place to achieve it. Good vocational and technical schools can also "improve the quality of a society's population" as you'd put it. I don't mean that universities aren't good though, I mean we should move away from "academic knowledge" to "technical know-how." We really need some value re-orientation. Finally, you need to get off this "mainstream mentality" of having universities everywhere because it's taking us back...universities are expensive to maintain especially in Nigeria where Fed govt hugely subsidies varsity education. I rest my case. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Nature129: Sure you did not read, or you did not understand my first line above: {University education is aimed to IMPROVE THE QUALITY of a society's population - not necessarily to enable graduates to get jobs.} That's where the differences between both of us start. Bye. |

Nature129: Your right on point. University education in Nigeria is meant to propagate ignorance. Great individuals educate themselves. |
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by millionaireman: 8:53pm On Aug 04, 2015 |
@Pchidexy, You mean Nigerian universities propagate people of your sort? Too many Nigerians who attended modern Nigerian universities excel in Western countries. After a little exposure to Western systems, some Nigerian trained graduates even perform better than the ones trained in Western universities. 1 Like |

Orlu is being served by the university in Uli and Ongoing Imo Maritime University Oguta as well as IMSU Teaching Hospital, College of Health and Orlu campus of Imo Poly whose main campus is still in Orlu zone. millionaireman: 1 Like |

RareDiamond: Bros, Each time I stated the truth that Okigwe is served by ABSU in nearby Uturu, you resorted to the above diversionary ...... Well, it's not your fault. It's the fault of politicians from Orlu. Orlu has produced governors who do not understand the importance and advantages of a full government university for the large population of people in the Orlu area. |
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by UnknownT: 10:34pm On Aug 04, 2015 |
RareDiamond:Dude you are funny oh! Which University in Uli serves Orlu? If you have been to Okigwe, you will come to appreciate what millionaireman is saying. More than half of the student population that stay off campus live in Okigwe, not to talk of the staff. A bus of #50 ( I don't know if the price has appreciated though) from any part of Owerri road will take you to Uturu. To the extent that Absu students started relocating to Low Cost which they will need to take a bike to town before taking a bus. From the way you attack millionaireman each time he cries about Orlu zone needing a Uni, I have come to the conclusion that you are from Okigwe zone. All you have to do is to also give your own reason why Okigwe zone needs a University. You don't need to be attacking him cos your attacking him makes it look like the two zones are competing. If he shouts that Orlu needs a Uni, also shout that Okigwe needs one too ts not as if the things we type here are implemented at home. Daalu!!! 3 Likes 1 Share |

Re: Few Pics From Imo State by abagoro(m): 11:31pm On Aug 04, 2015 |
asha80: Are you saying that Owerri to Umuahia is a non-stop sprawl? I know Owerri to Egbu, Emekuku and Awaka is a sprawl and after a short forest of About 2km you enter another Mbaise sprawl but I do not know Mbaise to Umuahia. What this means is that there is land crisis. |
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by asha80(m): 12:09am On Aug 05, 2015 |
abagoro:mbaise to umuahia is pretty much the same..as for land crises I am not too such because if you vie off the road on each side there are still pockets of empty land but the scattered settlement pattern in the east is a bit of an issue and quite frankly in those areas along the road that look like forest from the express you might be surprised to see settlements in those areas 1 Like |
