Most common Mandinka names in CIV according to their regions

Northwest zone with the Koyaka, Mahouka, Odienneka, Wassulu, Diomande and Toubakai.
(I ll post a story of their migration and the story behind their different surnames later on)
They are mostly located in Man, Seguela, Touba, Odienne...
Most Common surnames in this region: Diomande, Bamba, Bakayoko, Soumahoro, Dosso, Timite, Doumbia, Diabate, Sidibe, Kallo, Sako, Fofana, Siguide, Camara, Fadiga, Sy-Savane,Dao (it's also a Dan name), Sylla, Diallo, Dia, Bah (although Dia, Diallo, Bah are originally fulani names, people with these names have fulani ancestry)

Names that are popular everywhere in the north of Cote d'Ivoire and that are also adopted by neighborhing populations such as the senoufo:
Coulibaly, Ouattara, Kone, Cisse, Keita, Traore, Toure, Diarra, Fofana, Konate, Sidibe, Diakite, Dia, Kourouma...

In mali: Diawarra, Diarra, Sissoko are more common as well as the names that are popular through all the north of CIV

Traditional Outfits of the Mandinka world.

They usually wear what we call Bubu. It's a dress made with a fabric called basin. The fabric is rich and quite heavy sometimes. Men usually wear the tunic with some pants underneath, women just wear the tunic. It's ample and relaxing.

When u say mandinka, I would think about the group you find in The Gambia, Southern Senegal and Bissau Guinea, the western mandinkas, we call them ''socés'' in wolof. I thinks soces and jolas are quite close, thought I don't think they mixed a lot , but jolas have been dominated politically by the mandinkas for centuries the two tribes share many aspects like music for example, and many cultural practices are shared as well.

Is the name Diawarra mainly Bambarra or Soninke? I always thought it was originally Bambarra same as Sissoko.
I think Diawara is originally a soninke name, not a Bambara one, Bambaras who have this last name have soninke origins I guess. I think Bambaras and malinkes are nearly the same, and I know a soce and a bambara can hold a conversation.

Is Sy savane a dioula name in Ivory coast shocked? That's funny , in senegal, Sy is a toucouleur name (probably soninke origin) and Savane a jola one. Sy savane is a french difformation for '' sy sawaande'' ,''the white horse'' in soninke language

Nono i used Mandinka for Malinke cause this seems to be their appellation in english, in CIV we call them Malinke, Dioula, or Maninka, their closest relative are the bambarra at the extreme northwest of CIV and in Mali. Are the Jola the ones in casamance area? I was not sure if Diawara was sononke or Bambarra, although there are soninke of ivorian origins, I am not very familiar with them because they are not that numerous. They usually blend and intermix with the Malinke.
