Of course, the power is in the individual and I can also love them collectively. I also would like to see a break in that cycle but recently I've grown disenchanted. I'm currently on a quest to change a law (I'm not alone on this one) and the frustration is real, as is the feeling of many. If lawmakers do not care, we will also stop caring. If I am a "good" person, I hope to remain so despite the outcome. I am having to talk myself away from believing my biggest hindrance is my race. It is unacceptable undecided
I feel you sister. It can get weary fighting for a cause and there doesn't seem to be any change in sight. I'll just encourage you to not lose hope or faith in the best of humanity...History is littered with amazing people who chose not to give up and give in, who chose not to join them when they couldn't beat them. You're not staying "good" for their sake, but for yours.

Loool... All the bars that I'm Nastradamus-ing aren't mine, those are Nas' bars lool. Hence why I keep referencing Nastradamus lool. Anyway, I've got bars and metaphors for days, though. Don't worry - I'll post the freestyle video soon, just haven't been able to upload it on youtube.
oops! Nasiru's stuff, my bad, missed that smiley. Okay, I'll reserve my rating until I hear your stuff.

I'm not really into gospel music like that, but I do listen to Kirk Franklin and Mary Mary sometimes. Don't tell me you're like Bassey Impki of Def Jam Poetry. I absolutely love that woman. I used to follow her on twitter(back when I was active on there) till she disappeared. The woman was too real for twitter loool!!!
Yooo Bassey is the ish!!! love that girl. I used to be a regular on her website at basseyworld.com and on myspace a while back...until yeah she stopped being active. So many amazing talents on Def poetry over the years, I followed very religiously.

I honestly like your taste in music - and we kind of have the same taste, only that I'm also in Fela Kuti, blues, bashment, grime, house music, calypso, and a little bit of country music. I messed with soft rock and jazz for a while and I'm planning to get into classical music and some francophone African music as well. What type of documentary have you done? Have you ever been interviewed on CNN? - if so, I might know the person behind your handle loool.
Nice choices. Can't have Soul music without Blues for me lol. And country music (along with Rap imo) has the best story-tellers in all of music. And abeg oh...which interview for CNN? lol, abeg me I'm just a small girl doing mostly local (new england) stuff. Was involved in one documentary for the musuem of african american history. It won an award recently in NY.

Defo on the look-out for a sports-mum. And if she isn't into sports - I'll definitely make her love sports lool. I made my ex love basketball and soccer. And this chic was always on the look-out for any NBA game London, just to surprise me with match tickets looool. I do watch a little bit of baseball as well, but I don't really follow it religiously the same way I follow other sports. Baseball and Golf are on the same level with me. I just watch the important games, like the series in baseball - and Masters in golf.
Poor girl cheesy she no know say plans area already being made for her wherever she is hehe. I tried to get into playing golf a while back...there are 2 reasons why it was very very difficult wink. Which sports do you play btw?

Lmao. Hockey is a crazy sport. The white yobs are nuts, and I'm surprised they don't really talk about the rowdiness of baseball. However, they're always quick to judge players in the NFL and NBA. They need some black brothers in there to spice things up for them.
100% on the money there. That's one the reasons I get upset with the obvious double standards from the media and ppl in general. If its white ppl fighting it was a "skirmish" or "tussle"...black people and it was a "brawl". Yeye people.

Sloane got destroyed by Sharapova today. She needs to work on her serve, though. I honestly don't think it'll be an easy ride for Serena, after watching Sharapova and Azarenka today. She needs to be at her best to be able to dislodge those two players. Also, Serena has been waltzing over players since she won her first grandslam even when Davenport and the two Belgian girls were active. She has the variety of serve, the power, mental edge, and movement - most tennis players lack. Her finesse might be questionable, however, she has always had more than enough in her arsenal to destroy anyone on her day.
I will never forget what 16yr old Sharapova did to Serena at Wimbledon final (2004?) cheesy damn...Serena was undressed in ways that no one (except Venus of course) had till then. I think Sharapova tho with some majors under her belt, hasn't lived up to expectations (and she's had injuries that slowed her down). No worries about Sloane...she's just breaking out. She has the mental fortitude to be a champion, the game and conditioning just has to catch up and it will smiley.

I'm pizzzed with Britain at the moment. I need a moment to localise my frustration, I know it's not all bad.

Arrrrgh, nepotism and familiarity is not diversity and it is everyday! How can our country make tangible progress if more of the same remain in higher positions of authority? I'm so pizzzzled fo'shizzle and my grin-skin-teet MP will face my bombardments!!!! angry angry angry

Haha, "beautiful black skin". How does your mother feel about your skinular adjustments lol? Mostly, I like the fact you haven't written something obscure and perfume brand-esque like "Unforgettable". I'm sure your body is the right sort of story, but don't make it heavy-laden smiley. My bro got tatted up yesterday too tongue

Need some Ceylon. This damn God Forsaken Britain angry angry angry.... weather is still peng tho grin grin

EDIT!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY BRITAIN!!!! http://www.guardian.co.uk/law/2013/jun/05/crime-victims-challenge-cps-decisions

Bwahahahahaha... Everyone's "pizzed" with the UK. grin grin I defo will fly-away-like-a-bird soon, once I finalise everything I'm doing. I need a different location and set-up/system; this system just makes people paranoid for no reason. However, naija or anywhere on the continent aren't on the list - I can't deal with the "dark continent" for now. grin grin

Lmao!! Did you say "diversity?" grin grin grin You're better than this... The "diversity" in the Western world is a pseudonym for globalisation; albeit still maintaining the "status quo" and protecting the interests of the indigenous people, monarchy, and the "owners of the world." Europe is a tribal society, and the UK and yanks aren't left out as well. And they're also very territorial as well. Forget the few black faces you see holding high governmental positions; the only thing black about them is their skin. They all follow the same scripts and we're all "pawns" on the chess-board. The earlier we all accept this; and educate ourselves and our children(and the unborn ones lool) - the better for us all. Hence, why I don't really get to riled up about the BNPs and EDLs of this world. Nationality is a paper thing - identity is the real deal, yo. tongue Just gotta live life to the fullest; ride the wheel till it falls off; and leave a mark/stamp on it, yo. grin grin Defo can't be ar.sed to be begging for acceptance - ain't no one got time for that!

I'm a grown ar.se man and I'm not really bothered about what she thinks, to be honest. grin But she hasn't seen them, though. grin grin When she does - she'll probably scream and talk for a few hours - but that won't take them off. Anyway, my mum understands me and I've been making my own decisions and have been in-charge of the steering to the wheels-of-my-life since I was 18(or there about), and I've made her proud. Made tons of mistakes; learned from them; and I've survived against all odds. So I know she'll understand. grin grin grin grin It's addictive, though - but I'll promise to never make it "heavy-laden." grin Elbow up - not bait places. Still striving to get to the top of the corporate ladder and I defo won't let anything trivial jeopardise that loooool.

Let Whitney Houston(Greatest Love of All) show you the relationship between my mum and I(loooooool):

I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

Everybody's searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
I never found anyone who fulfilled my needs
A lonely place to be
And so I learned to depend on me

I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I'll live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can't take away my dignity

grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Err. How old's your brother and what tat did he? He can be my younger!!!!! grin grin grin Gatts love for my young dargs/donnies/doozies/bucks!! I kind of jam/roll with my younger cousins now. Well, I basically trained the both of them from year 10 and showed them what life(dem roads and everything) is all about. I showed them how to get that gwop as well. And right about now; I'm eating the fruit of my labour hehehehehehehehehe. Dem mans are hard as fvck now and they're moneymakers; but still getting good grades in uni. tongue tongue You need to bring your brother around. He might know my cousin - my cousin lives around your ends and he's quite popular over there.

Anyway, is your brother alright now? My bad, I didn't reply your post where you said; he got shanked. Just tell him to be more careful - there are too many loose-screws, waste mans, and knuckle-heads on dem roads.

I absolutely love the weather - the original afro-asiatic black man loves the sun. grin grin grin My black skin! tongue

Erm... My internet is messing up, but I can post the lyrics if you want. grin It seems youtube doesn't want that video on its website, anymore. grin grin grin

Yooo Bassey is the ish!!! love that girl. I used to be a regular on her website at basseyworld.com and on myspace a while back...until yeah she stopped being active. So many amazing talents on Def poetry over the years, I followed very religiously.

I absolutely love Bassey!!!!! Def Jam Poetry was the ish!! I still go on youtube from time to time to watch the old videos - both Dej Jam Poetry and Def Jam Comedy need to come back, yo. I also love the way African Americans recite their poems. It's soulful and soothing!!! grin grin DMX, Lauryn Hill, Jamie Foxx etc. too many names to mention - especially the unpopular people.

Yeah, both genre of music are about story-telling. Only that rap is more complex(especially when you listen to lyricists). I just wish everyone could understand the essence and what rap music stands for - and not the commercialised version. Yo, music is the greatest invention ever!!! grin I'm listening to Bob Marley right about now - it's making me feel like I'm in a different space. That's how powerful music is!! I love music!! grin

Lmao @ too small for CNN. I saw a documentary about young Africans in America trying to change Africa on Amanpour a few years ago - and she interviewed a naija girl(who's probably the leader of the or something). I think I followed her on twitter and we chatted for a while, before I became inactive on there. These times, I was in uni, and kind of into social networking and blacks in America(my early days in afrocentricism and black consciousness loool). Anyway, you'll be on CNN soon - just stay doing you looool

Congrats on your award - that's what's up. Since you're into African American history - have you been to Schomburg Center in Harlem? if you have, what's it like? Planning to visit when next I'm in yank.

Poor girl cheesy she no know say plans area already being made for her wherever she is hehe. I tried to get into playing golf a while back...there are 2 reasons why it was very very difficult wink. Which sports do you play btw?

Golf is a cool sport, especially the Masters. It seems Tiger Woods got all black people into golf. grin grin

I play(ed) football(soccer), basketball, table tennis, tennis, cricket(in sec. school), rugby(in sec. school), sprint((in sec. school), and I "flirted" with American football in uni. Once I start making that big gwop, I'll probably start playing polo and golf. grin grin

100% on the money there. That's one the reasons I get upset with the obvious double standards from the media and ppl in general. If its white ppl fighting it was a "skirmish" or "tussle"...black people and it was a "brawl". Yeye people.

Angry black people and testosterone - perfect for media script. The thugs and gangster stories from the inner-city, given a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make millions, sell more. The Pacman Jones and Mike Vick of this world!! grin grin where the heck is Pacman Jones, anyway grin grin Carmelo Anthony also will never recover from the media rap he got during his early days in the NBA - and Queen's own Ron Artest still haven't recovered despite changing his name to "Metta World peace." I love American sports and the different characters, yo!!!

I will never forget what 16yr old Sharapova did to Serena at Wimbledon final (2004?) cheesy damn...Serena was undressed in ways that no one (except Venus of course) had till then. Sharapova's win at Wimbledon was a fluke! grin Same with Ivanovic as well. They both broke-out well but ended up as "journey-women." Same with non-achieving Jankovic. grin Anyway, it seems Sharapova is back on her game now but I think her gamesmanship and silly noise are her new tricks, however, she ain't got nothing on Serena. It's Serena's tournament to lose.

Sloane should improve her serve and get another black face up in there. women's tennis hasn't been the same since the Williams sisters crashed the party. Men's tennis would have been the same as well if James Blake had lived up to the hype. If Monfils isn't just so inconsistent and stupid at times. And if Tsonga could just take it easy with his shots selection. Anyway, good win for Tsonga yesterday against almighty Federer and I hope he'll be able to destroy David Ferrer as well. Nadal vs Tsonga would be an interesting match-up in the final. But the game of the tournament was the game between Gasquet and Warwinka - two of the best and most gracious one-handed backhand players in tennis!!!

But, accepted/ernest "diversity" remains a hope for most ethnic decendents living here and that's the truth. They identify with their nationality. Why should I accept my "status quo" position when I was born here; a 3rd generation immigrant from 3 different lands. In my lifetime I doubt I will see a shift in attitudes towards blacks, but I cannot just accept that because here lies home. There is a woman right now in the toilet next door to my office (I'm working in a GP practice of a "deprived" ward today) who is crying and screaming into her phone "WHY DO YOU WHITE PEOPLE WANT TO KILL ME?!". I have checked in on her (think she is a junkie) but interesting to note as I feel it may support your perspective on this issue lol.

You know what, I detest that Whitney song! tongue We sang that song too often in assembly at school. I grimace!!!! My bro is fine. He inked clouds and an angel (it has perpective that I cannot describe here). My bro is too much of a pretty boy, and it is annoying as his sister to have so many "interests" trying to gain favour through me angry. Since his incident I despair at these girls I swear! I had to coach one about life and basically tell her if my bro is not calling then he is not interested. These girls skipped "Relationships 101" in life :X

My voice of reason, I kneel before thee lol. The best thing about any upset I face in this world is my strong family support unit. This black junkie female I can hear next door screaming needs the right sort of support and even she can flourish in this world smiley. Hehehehe. I remember we used to talk about the "identity" vs. "nationality" issue in uni. And I think myself, and all my friends agreed that it's better to stick to "identity" than get worked up over "nationality." Because at the end of the day; we'll always be judged by our identity. I think everything/outlook comes with maturity, age, and experiences out there in mainstream Britain. We all grew up aligning with nationality but as we grew older, and started getting more involved in system/society - it became glaring that, accepting nationality means begging for acceptance. At the end of the day; we all still tick "black African" on all forms - so that's our identity lol. Why live in denial and be a prisoner of your own conscience rather than live freely like a bird without expecting too much from the system? The pseudo-nationality stance is the reason why a lot of black people are disenfranchised and innately angry at the system because they expect too much from a system that has clearly told them where they belong. I believe most black people need a "negro wake up call" - big ups to Paul Mooney for that quote.

Malcolm-X also said: "Just because a kitten is born in the oven, that doesn't make it biscuit." Rasta Benjamin Zephaniah, Jajo Soze(sorry for citing a rapper lol) etc. also talk about this all the time. We're black people living in Britain - and we just need to accept our position and not ask for too much. Make the best out of the system; fight for better conditions(because we pay taxes and helped build the country); but don't overly force yourself looking for hope where there's one. Perhaps, the inability to accept that reality, is the reason why most people are going nuts lool. They just sold/sell us a dream.

Living in West Midlands helped change my mentality and consciousness. From conscious uni friends - to the conscious and knowledgeable Caribbeans that I mingled with. I'll forever be grateful to them loooool. But I don't think I ever want to go back to back to that part of Great Britain.Hehehehehehe

The woman is crazy, yo looooool. She needs to allow it and let white people be. They aren't trying to kill no one - just protecting their Island and what rightfully belongs to them, yo loooool. Oi, give her some sedatives and prescribe citalopram and ritalin for her. hehehehehehehehehe

Damn girlie!! That's my chunnnnne!! So your brother is a pretty boy, yeah? With chics around him all the time loool. Never been a pretty boy(maybe when I was 14 and below lol). I'm more like a cross-breed of method man, the game, and nas(that's what everyone says). Tell ya brother to start smoking zoobie seeds/leaves to look tough before dem chics start taking him for a mug - pretty boys don't win on dem gully roads lool. Big sister, tell dem chics to jam their hype!! London chics are stalkers lol!!! Hey, don't despair - educate them and spread love. Love is the answer. Hale Flytefally!!!

Enjoy Italiano!!! I've never been there, though. But it's defo in my plan. Oi, eat a lot of macaroni and cheese for ya boy.
Re: This God Forsaken Country Called BRITAIN. by Nobody: 12:49pm On Jun 07, 2013
Your argument forms sense smiley. I think a learned/trained mind can fully accept that we are not biscuits in this oven, but for the rest of us we can only see injustice because we will forever view our birthplace as our birth right. It would take generations for this attitude to shift to the one you detailed. To be honest though, I would prefer that we Caribbean's did focus our attentions on to our islands. In St Vincent, the Japanese own the fish, the Americans/Europeans own the prettiest lands/smaller islands and now we have others trying to tap into our natural wealth. Can we even call it our own anymore? undecided

I ran into a family friend yesterday after work; 50+ unemployed divorced Jamaican, walks with a limp, used to do manual labour but due to back problems has to change careers. We chatted for a long while about the frustrations of not find a job but laaard di man flip ah switch and him face did red-up when him ah start chat bout woman!!! grin. He started cussing black women and their insecuries. Perhaps he felt he could open up to me as I wear no weaves but he put down a substantial cussss towards weaves/extensions! I tried to not laugh but he went innnn and then turned to bleaching and I was finished lmao!!! Thus I concluded that black men are focused on another fight; their own women lol.

Blud, Italian Mac and Cheese is nothing like Jamaican macaroni and cheese!! G'way! tongue
