EPOMA:

Be specific, what do you call private investment, stealing money and building a big house that you can't even rent out, since it is like hurricane, Name just 5

Private investment is private investment. Have a problem with that. Tinubu has private investments all over lagos. Most of the investments in Nigeria we know are stolen money so don't come here with that holier than thou attitude. Genuine businesses are springing in uyo. Cant deal with that, grab the closest transformer in your area if PHCN dey

CFCfan: The Ibom Airport international terminal is being designed to handle 1.5 million passengers per year/750 per hour during peak periods. The terminal will have 4 'fingers'(jet bridges) which will be connected to six planes; one of the fingers will be used solely for an A380 aircraft.
The terminal costs N18.06 billion, and is due to be completed by the middle of next year.
Bro with all due respect, stop helping to propagate falsehood! No Nigerian airport is on the books for be approved to handle A380. Lagos was the only Airport that Airbus showed interest in as the only viable Airport in Nigeria that has the facility to handle an Aircraft like A380 but lack the several specialist equipment to handle that Aircraft and would also require several upgrade to its gates and perhaps a completely new terminal.

If in this modern day and age someone is planning of spending N18bn to build an airport to handle just over 1million passengers yearly, you wonder the kind of leaders we have Let him use that money to build link rail service between Calabar and Uyo. I am sure if Akpabio asked His oga at the top to contribute something as per collaboration with FG, He may end up having closets N20bn to execute the project.

Dejohnbull: i said it Amechi is busy doing noting wit quack contractors. E'g ( JDP, LCC, MCC, COSSEL, FEROTEX, RCC). AKPABIO, ( JULIUS BEGER, ARAB CONTRACTOR, MOTHER CAT, NIGER CAT, RCC, CCECC, CGC, ASPHALT UNITY). So who is fooling who, Amechi shld go 4 rivival in uyo.
please reason!! Gov. Ameachi said rivers peoples money in rivers peoples pocket! Why will he give out the state's money to foreigners when we have local companies? Because of his investments in local hands rivers state has some of the richest men in the south like chief o.b lulu briggs, odoliyi lolomari, etc! And there're using their money to give back to the state and create jobs. And finally the most sorphisticated and complicated contracts are still given to fotreign firm but that'll change soon.

As for Akwaibom and Uyo particularly its a bomb. The gov has done so well that people now want to visit AK.

And must confess again AK get beautiful sweet girls..can you imagine em em em..dont misquote me. Am married man oo.. cheesy cheesy

Shortly before I got married..I was dating an AK girl. She is closely related to Ufot Ekaete former SGF. If I had married her Akpabio and Ufot would have given us our own SUVs (not one). Well make I dey manage my saloon car for now. grin

Dont mention Anambra and that state on same sentence again. States get levels.

@ The topic: I can only say WOW to the roads and beauty!!!!

This is what development in infrastructure is about. This roads can only be compared to Abuja roads..simple.

But the gov is not meeting up on the areas of human capital development, health, education. An average Ibom man is still very poor and living below 20 dollars per day. An average Ibom man is still my gateman, an average Ibom girl is still my cook.

All in all Akpabio has done well above average ..I score him 55%. The next governor will take up the touch where he stopped in 2015.

Mr World Bank how did you do your research and arrive at this bullsh"t of figures

when your living on less than dollar a day who dash you gate man and cook grin grin grin grin
even if you can it wont be from my state, gone are those days

rozayx5: My observations on this thread, I live in Akwa Ibom so I am not typing hearsay here.

1. i see a group of jealous people here

2. i see some people comparing a new born baby town to a Metropolis - you cant compare Uyo and Lagos, Uyo is trying its best , Lagos has been developing since the 18** and even if fashola does nothing who will know,

3. i see some Akpabio haterz - Akpabio is trying in infrastructure, some people here are talking about Developments outside Uyo, there are too many i cant mention, Abak - Ikot Ekpene road, Abak Housing Estate, Complete tarring of roads and street in Ikot Abasi, renovation of 90% or primary schools in the State, and so on. I saw some one say Akpabio would have built houses for all the poor in the State, when his wife did that for Widows we did not hear it here, there are homeless people in the USA, so let me hear word

where Akpabio needs to work on as of now is JOb creation, through building of more industries

4. Uyo is a beautiful City you come around and see for yourself, i Live in Ikot Abasi and frequent Uyo for Business (we have light 24/7 in Ikot Abasi so if you need 24hrs light your welcome

uncompleted and nearing completion include - The Stadium(berger), the Worldclass Hospital (gitto), the Oruk Anam Major feeder Rd, and so many which should be completed this year and 2014

PROUDLY AKWA IBOMITE
So all the development is not creating jobs for Akwa-Ibow people? So who have been carrying out the so called massive construction you claim is going on everywhere? Anyway, Lagos, Abuja and Edo as still in need of house help, watchmen and cooks .... wink

BabaTony:

It is better you stop living in the past mr., this is 2013 and Akwa Ibom has left that level long time ago. It is obvious that you haven't visited Aks to see the level private investments springing up due to the hurricane-like transformation in infrastructure in the state.

You could be right because I have not been to AK since late 2010. That was last I visited to see my ex..

Amaaskia:

Everything you said is correct but adding the fact that an Akwa ibom girl is your cook/house girl doesn't rate the Gov's performance, that was an unnecessary point. My gate man is hausa - Ali, of course he's kind hearted and competent, but I'll be foolish to judge his state Gov's performance because he is a mere gate man. Just saying!

But as a gov he has a vital role to play in the areas of human resource development..

I must confess that Akpabio remains the beacon of hope for Nigeria, at least in the areas of infrastructure..he represent the best in that sector for now.

Warri _Pikin:

Yes o ! Talk is cheap!
Please list Fashola's achievements and compare them side by side to the transformation miracle Godswill Akpabio has worked in Akwa Ibom. Akpabio's achievements will not only dwarf Fashola's, but will make Fashola look like a criminal.

Remember Obong Victor Attah did next to nothing to uplift Uyo from a roundly rural city. But Tinubu started the re-incarnation of Lagos, which Fashola merely continued until date. Needless to say lagos was a former federal capital with numerous federal roads still being maintained by federal funds and Federal Government. While Akwa Ibom has almost zero federal roads, not to mention fly-overs, yet Godswill managed to build fly-overs,ten lane highways and broad boulevards in his capital city! All within less than 6 years. Go to Uyo and see for yourself how a truly modern city rose out of the mud earth almost overnight!

Akpabio has built a functional international airport and currently building a NEW terminal building which shall be the biggest and most technologically current in Africa, while Fashola's Lekki airport is still a mirage. Akpabio has built 5 star hotels with world class golf courses and building more,International standard aircraft maintenance hangers, thousands of housing estates all over Akwa-Ibom, International standard stadium that can host a FIFA world cup(Advanced Replica of Durban SA 2010 Fifa Worldcup stadium), and a deep sea port etc! Tell me how Fashola can beat all that with merely a mono-train line which is still dysfunctional for 6 years?
Bros, dey don break oh! Stop comparing light and darkness. Fashola's visionary leadership is putting food on the table of the ordinary and increasing their purchasing power, but your oga own nah another story.
Building stadium, 5 star hotel, is a waste of resources. As for the Aircraft maintenance hangers, laudable project and the last I can remember, the project is suppose to have reached an advanced stage with buildings completed but nothing is happening. Remember the commissioner saying they are running out of funds to complete the project and so far no major players in MRO has shown any interest in partnering with them, and if so, Akwa-Ibom may continue to be house help in Benin, Lagos and Abuja for yet another generation lipsrsealed

Anybaba:

Victor Attah did solid roads. Abak road dualisation is a typical example. I am not holding brief for Attah though, as he was still corrupt. Is Uyo not still a flooded city today? Have you ever been on Udo-Umanah, Babangida Avenue (immediately after the e-library), Nsikak Udueok Avenue and a lot of other streets after it rains? You need to go there and see first hand what flooding is. So where is the underground drainage you are talking about? That he has spent billions to build the so called pipe jacking underground drainage on Ikot-Ekpene road has not in anyway stopped the flooding in the city. One would actually ask why spend billions and not solve a problem?

The floods on Oron road are gone! Abeg, let's try to be objective and not turn this into an Attah vs Akpabio fight...if that Oron Road flood and barracks road flood could be almost non-existent compared to past times like it then it behooves on every one to say so...

Symphony007: no good roads? You must be high, which south-south or south eastern city can compare with port harcourt for road networks? Stadium road, aba road, new airport road, peter odili road, mile 3 roads and mega fly over and many more! For your information rivers state is the only state in nigeria that has enough power to feed the whole state, it's has just been given the power by the feds to distribute and it is on a fast track! No solid infastructure? Apparently you're ignorant to the fact that the three tallest buildings in the entire south south and south east is located in port harcourt. You don't know about the monorail project whoes first phase in nearing completion. All the schools and health care centers jam packed in the state that you see one of them anywhere you turn! Please don't say ignorant things.

Road networks in portharcourt? I think you just displayed your stupidity at the highest level here. By good road I mean quality roads not all those I see in portharcourt being carried out by rubbish contractors like the mile 3 flyover (I laugh in swaili) you just foolishly mentioned. Other rubbish contractors like hommer n the rest keep doing shaddy roads all over the city that couldn't stand the taste of time. Portharcourt only has aba road that is always full of traffic and you said there are road networks. Stop deceiving yourself and take a visit to Akwa Ibom state you will know that portharcourt is no where cclose to it in terms of road infrastructures. Where I work in Akwa Ibom, Ikot Abasi there is 24/7 steady electricity because there's a state power plant there. The only place you can get that in rivers is in bonny island that's provided by nlng.

Lagos is a commercial Hub, with businesses, dont tell me fashola is the one than brought Lagos to this point, a former capital with the first major seaport and you dont expect it to be developed
fashola is just tolling roads with Tinubu, imagine 300NGN everyday for just going to VI, smh for you

Akwa Ibom is 25 years Old,
Lagos has been there since antiquity, it is a metroplois , so stop comparing lagos with Uyo it makes no sense, handover Uyo to fashola and you wont see anything but tolled roads, imagine paying 150 and the street lights only work at the toll plaza when you driver down no more functioning street lights angry angry
the roads (BERGER) world class road we use here are far better than that crap hi tec are pouring on Lekki - epe and getting innocent lagosians tolled for
