ANOTHER MAN

“And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.”
(1 Samuel 10: 6)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

As Saul was on the way to becoming the first king of Israel, one major prerequisite he needed was for him to become another man. Saul was not about to sit on the throne without major changes; he embraced change before he embraced the throne; he changed before his position changed. Something in Saul changed before his level changed.

Friend, as you expect change in your status/circumstances, God expects you to change from within; make positive changes in your character/behaviour before your next level manifests; God expects your attitudes to change for the better as you desire your portion this year; He expects your understanding to improve as you get set to enjoy a glorious year.

As your next level beckons, let prayerlessness give way to prayerfulness, let inconsistency give way to consistency, let incompetence give way to competence, let laxity and procrastination give way to prompt service, let your imperfections give way for perfection, and let your weaknesses be exchanged with strength.

The Saul who became king was Saul who became another man; it wasn’t the old version of Saul that sat on the throne; it was his new version. Your next level wants a better version of you; if you remain the same, you might be so close to your next level without getting into it.

Become another man, be a better version of yourself, even where you have done well, still improve and God will cause you to sit on your throne.

Romans 12 vs. 2 says: “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Prayer : Lord, help me to become a better person, in Jesus’ name!Amen

PLAY YOUR ROLE

“...Whatever job you’re given to do, do it. God is with you!”
(1 Samuel 10: 7 MSG)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

The earlier instructions of Samuel to Saul mostly spoke of what people would do for Saul; some men were meant to give him good news at Rachel’s sepulcher, others were meant to give him two loaves of bread at the plain of Tabor. Saul was meant to receive from others without really doing anything.

After the season of receiving without doing anything, Saul entered a season where he had a job to do. Expansion was coming his way, and Samuel reminded him that he had things to do. Saul had a role to play in making his kingship a success; apart from things God made happen, Saul had things he should make happen.

Friend, in your season of Exceeding Expansion, take note: God will not do everything for you. In the making of the greatness God will bring your way this year, play your role. Strive to excel and be exceptional in all your ways.

Be committed, dedicated, consistent, resilient, etc. It’s your job to display the right attitudes, good manners, good disposition, right approach, etc. Make the right prayers, sow the right seeds, take the right steps, make the right efforts, and do whatever is in your power to do.

Saul’s kingship eventually failed when he failed to do what God wanted him to do. Your success this year does not depend on God alone; it also depends on you. If you fail to play your role, you might embrace failure instead of the Exceeding Expansion that God has promised.

Wake up and play your role effectively. Apart from God’s role, your success also lies in your hands, and it lies in what you do or fail to do.

Ecclesiastes 9 vs. 10 says: “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might...”.

Prayer : Lord, help me to play my role in achieving my Exceeding Expansion, in Jesus’ name!Amen
Welcome To Your Season Of Power And Glory.

PLANT YOUR SEED

“And thou shalt go down before me to Gilgal; and, behold, I will come down unto thee, to offer burnt offerings, and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace offerings: ...”
(1 Samuel 10: cool

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Prophet Samuel instructed Saul to go to Gilgal where burnt offerings and sacrifices were to be made preparatory to Saul’s elevation. Saul was about to step into kingship, but before he could enter into that new season, a foundation was laid with a sacrifice unto God.

Saul’s kingship was not made manifest, He did not experience a fulfillment of what God ordained until there was a sacrifice to God. Sacrifices were offered unto God, something was done for God as the public announcement of Saul’s kingship was awaited. A sacrifice was on the altar as Saul awaited his next level.

Friend, if you want to experience the fullness of the Exceeding Expansion that God is bringing your way this year, do yourself a favour: put a sacrifice on the altar. Sow a seed that will speak for you. Give something to God as you await what He intends to release unto you; give to God before He even gives to you; drop a seed that will call forth your Exceeding Expansion into being.

For every new ground God gives you this year, sow a new seed; when your expected harvest is delayed after you have sowed a seed, sow again; let your seed be commensurate to the exceeding harvest you are expecting; even when your harvest arrives, sow a part of it to activate the next season of harvest.

Don’t complain that you have not seen your harvest when God has not yet seen your seed on His altar. Don’t accuse God of not giving to you when you have not yet given to Him. Give to God, sow a seed, be a sower and your seeds will set the stage for Exceeding Expansion.

Prayer : Lord, I choose to sow seeds that will provoke my harvest, in Jesus’ name!Amen
Your Days Will End In Praise.

DESTINY MESSENGERS

“And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and there went with him a band of men, whose hearts God had touched.”
(1 Samuel 10: 26)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In a bid to establish Saul as King, there was a band of men whose hearts were touched by God, and they followed Saul. Saul didn't have a band of men before he became king, but when God chose him to lead Israel, God also touched some men to support Saul’s success.

Friend, hear God’s prophetic word: God will touch men to assist you to make progress this year. God will touch men to open doors for you and push you to the next level; God will plant it in the heart of strangers and acquaintances to favour you; God will compel men to play positive roles that will help your advancement this year; God will touch men to do for you what you may not be able to do for yourself.

Saul didn't beg the band of men to follow him; God just touched their hearts and they acted accordingly. This year, people you haven't begged for anything will favour you at God’s instance. People you may not share a relationship with will be touched by God and without asking them for favours, they will favour immensely.

In the past, you may have asked men to favour you; this year, God will touch their hearts on your behalf. Some men may have stony hearts and will never willingly choose to help anyone, but when God touches them, they won’t have any option but to serve you effectively.

God was the architect of Saul’s kingship, and He made men available to make the project succeed. If God is at the center of your life this year, He will command men to work for your Exceeding Expansion.

Ask God to open your eyes to the men He has touched to favour you. Ask God to compel the men He has touched to act quickly in your best interest.

Prayer : Lord, touch the hearts of men to work in my favour, in Jesus’ name!Amen

DON'T FAIL GOD

“And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel?...”
(1 Samuel 16: 1)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

God Himself orchestrated a massive elevation for Saul, God moved him from obscurity to undeniable visibility, he didn’t have a pedigree but God chose him, he was not from the tribe of Judah but God chose him; God chose Saul against all odds, and gave him what was unmistakably an Exceeding Expansion.

Despite receiving the throne of Israel on a platter of gold, Saul messed up his kingship by disobeying God (see 1 Samuel 15). Saul sinned against God, and that set the stage for his disgrace; his sin short-circuited what God planned for him; his sin was the trap in which his kingship was caught without remedy; he willfully took an action that failed God, and he soon became a failure himself.

Friend, hear God’s warning: sin can cut short your Exceeding Expansion this year. When the devil tempts you to sin, just remember that your Exceeding Expansion is on the line, and you may have to choose between the expansion you desire and the sinful desires of your flesh. The Exceeding Expansion that God is set to bring shares no compatibility with a life of sin and disobedience.

Saul did not necessarily sin against God twice; he only sinned once, and that one misguided misadventure became his nemesis. Don’t even accept to sin even once: your sin is the devil’s chance to mess you up and accuse you before God. Your sin might push God into reversing what He has already planned for you.

Whatever God has given you can be withdrawn by Him if He so chooses. Don’t be counted among those whose Exceeding Expansion was cut short by God on account of sin. Dare to please God; don’t fail God.

Prayer : Lord, in this year, I will not fail You; give me grace to follow after You, in Jesus’ name!Amen
You Are Too Blessed To Fail.

GOD HAS OPTIONS

“And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.”
(1 Samuel 16: 1)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When Saul failed/disobeyed God, God reached out for David and established him as the next king of Israel. God wasn't stranded because Saul failed; He had options and activated same when He had to. Saul may not have been conscious of God’s options while he indulged in sin, but God used His next option once Saul could no longer be trusted.

Friend, whenever you are tempted to fail God this year, always remember that God has options. You are not the only one that God can bless or increase; you are not the only one that God can use or establish; you are not God’s only option; if you check well, you might discover that God has better options than you. The fact that God chose you doesn't mean He can't drop you for someone else.

If Saul knew that his failure to execute God’s judgement on the Amalekites would cost him his throne, maybe he would have refrained from his error. Your errors might be costlier than you can ever imagine, and you may be setting the stage for someone else’s elevation through the misuse of your chance.

The moment Saul’s kingship was truncated and God chose David, Saul didn't get a second chance. One could only imagine what would have been the case if he didn’t waste his chance. God is always willing to give another chance, but the reality is that sometimes, when you lose your place to another, you may not get it back as fast as you lost it.

Don’t be counted among those who forced God to use His other options. Don’t lose your place; don’t waste your chance.

Prayer: Lord, I won’t lose my place or waste my chance, in Jesus’ name!Amen
Your January Shall End In Praise!

SPEAK THE WORD

“And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,”
(Luke 5: 1)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Our Focal Scripture speaks of a multitude that pressed on Jesus because they wanted to hear God's word. Like we observed, ‘press’ is the root word for ‘pressure’. So the pressure that came to Jesus wanted to hear God's word from Him. ‘Pressure’ came to Jesus and demanded to be fed with God’s word.

Friend, every pressure and every challenge you face is a call for you to speak God’s word. Some pressures may never end until you attack them with a word from God that fits perfectly into the pressure situation. Some challenges may never end until you fight against them with God’s word. Some pressures won’t end until you speak the word of God.

Speak God's word to every pressure in your health, and it will crumble. For every financial pressure, remind yourself that God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory. When pressures arise in your career/business, speak a word that addresses the specific issue and the pressure will fizzle out before your eyes.

If all you do in your pressure moments is to complain, you are making a mistake that will complicate your pressures. If you face pressures like one who is already defeated, don’t blame anyone when the pressure finally defeats you. When pressures come and you succumb without a response, the pressure might end up having the final say.

Search the scriptures and find a fitting word for every pressure that comes your way. As you speak the word, every pressure will bow to the word.

Acts 19:20 says: “So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.”

Prayer : Lord, when pressure comes, I will give it Your word, in Jesus’ name!Amen. Today, By The WORD, You Will Prevail Over Every Pressure.

USE THE PRESSURE

“1. And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, 2. And saw two ships standing by the lake...”
(Luke 5: 1-2)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When Jesus faced the pressure of the multitudes that wanted to hear God's word through Him, He saw two ships at the lake of Gennesaret, and He seemed to conceive the idea of preaching from a ship. Jesus eventually preached from Simon Peter’s ship. Pressure pushed Him to see the opportunity of using a ship to preach; pressure opened His eyes and stretched His ingenuity and creativity.

Friend, instead of joining others to complain about the pressures of this life, ask God to open your eyes to see the opportunities hidden in the pressure. Ask God to open your eyes to see the business opportunity hidden in the problems around you; ask God to show you the ‘honey’ that can be extracted from the ‘beehives’ around you.

Let pressures fill your mind with ideas and open your eyes to see opportunities for your Exceeding Expansion. Let the pressures you face cause you to hold on to God for new visions that will raise you higher. Let the pressures you face unlock your creativity and give you new ideas. Let the pressures you face cause you to see what others are not seeing and do what others are not doing.

If Jesus gave up on the crowd that pressed on Him, just maybe there wouldn’t have been the net breaking miracle that Peter experienced. If you give up because of pressure, some huge possibilities may never manifest, and you may achieve nothing when you should actually achieve so much.

Make the most of every pressure that comes to you: it is a raw material for your Exceeding Expansion.

Prayer : Lord, may every pressure I face open my eyes to see and inspire me with fresh ideas, in Jesus’ name!Amen
Today, May Every Pressure Inspire You To Expand Exceedingly.

IT SHALL COME TO PASS

“And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God...”
(Luke 5: 1)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Our Focal Scripture began with “And it came to pass”. That phrase speaks of time. The time that came to pass revealed a multitude that pressed on Jesus; time revealed pressure that came to Jesus. Pressure often connotes negativity. So time seemed to reveal negativity; time revealed what wasn't good.

The crowd that pressed on Jesus came to hear God's word. The pressure may have seemed negative, but the people who came with it came for something positive. So time first revealed something that seemed negative, and in a matter of time, it also revealed something positive. Time revealed the pressure, time also sorted it out.

Friend, the same time that revealed the pressure you are facing right now will also sort it out. The same time that revealed negativity will also reveal positivity. Whatever negativity you see around you will fizzle out in a matter of time; those bitter tears you are crying will dry up in a matter of time; those disappointing tales in your life will soon give way to tales of joy and gladness. Lack will soon give way to abundance.

You may not have received all you desire, your prayers may not yet be answered, your next level may not have manifested, your Exceeding Expansion may still seem impossible, but God says, it is a matter of time. Time will cause negativity to give way; time will cause positivity to manifest.

Be patient when time seems to give you more negatives than positives. Soon, the tables will turn; soon, God will cause a mighty change that will favour you; soon, your days of pain and shame will end. Soon, it shall come to pass.

Prayer : Lord, cause time to reveal positives in my life; every negativity shall pass away in a matter of time, in Jesus’ name!Amen
Your Time Will Bring Forth Positives.

CONNECT TO SUCCESS

“And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.”
(Luke 5: 3)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

It is instructive to note that whereas Peter failed to catch fish all night, he remained in the Lake of Gennesaret where Jesus used his ship to preach to the multitude. Peter failed, Jesus was about to succeed, and Peter offered his ship to help Jesus succeed. Peter’s failure did not cause him to walk away from the environment of success; Peter failed, but connected to someone who was in the business of succeeding.

Friend, even if you think you are a failure, connect to the success of others. Connect with those whose ideas are higher than yours; connect to those whose results make a mess of your own results; connect to those whose successes will trigger and inspire your own success; connect with men who can give you hope again; let your failure not rob you of a chance to be in the atmosphere of success.

If Peter had walked away because he failed, just maybe he wouldn’t have got a second chance to catch a large haul of fish. If you allow your failures to push you out of the radar of success, just maybe, you will forever be confined in failure until you wake up and walk away from it. If your failure causes you to go into hiding, how will success locate you?

It doesn’t matter how much you have failed: stay on the grind, connect to those who have succeeded, celebrate the successes of those who succeeded while you failed, let the advancement of others propel you forward, and in a matter of time, your success will be revealed to the amazement of your generation.

Prayer : Lord, I refuse to walk away from the environment of success, in Jesus’ name!Amen
This Week, Success Will Locate You.

DON'T GIVE UP

“2. ...but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. 4. Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.”
(Luke 5: 2, 4)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

At about the time when Jesus wanted to preach to the crowd that was pressing on Him, Peter was washing his net. Peter had toiled all night and caught nothing; as a fisherman, washing his net was an indication that the business of the day was over.

Jesus entered Peter’s ship, and gave him the grace to catch a large haul of fish. Peter ended his fishing process, but Jesus began a new process that brought amazing results. Where Peter ended was where Jesus began; when Peter declared a breakdown, Jesus showed up with a breakthrough. Jesus began a new process that favoured Peter.

Friend, you may have ended some processes that didn’t give you desired results, but it is time to allow the Lord to begin new processes that will favour you. Allow the Lord to usher you into new profitable relationships; allow the Lord to bring you new opportunities that will distinguish you; allow God to bring you ideas that will lead to your Exceeding Expansion. If you have come to the end of the road, let God show you a new way.

When Peter gave up was when Jesus came with the amazing miracle that changed Peter’s story. You may think it is over but God says it is not over yet. That result you have given up on can still become a reality. That new job, marriage, financial breakthrough, etc can still happen. Your cookies may crumble, but God has better options.

Psalm 30 vs. 5 says: “...weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”

Prayer : Lord, whenever I give up, begin a new process that will cause me to smile, in Jesus’ name!Amen
Expect A New Beginning; Don't Give Up Yet.

UNFAMILIAR IDEAS

“2. ...but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. 4. Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.”
(Luke 5: 2, 4)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, Jesus instructed Peter to let down his net to catch fishes. Peter had toiled all night, and as a professional fisherman, he had good reasons to jettison Jesus’ idea. According to fishermen, it’s better to fish at night than to fish during the day, reason being that fishes come out more at night.

Jesus made an unfamiliar suggestion to Peter, but it led to an amazing result. It was an unconventional process leading to a huge, amazing result. It didn’t seem like the best idea for one to give a professional fisherman, but when Peter took and acted on that advice from Jesus, he caught enough fishes that filled his boat and the boat of his partners.

Friend, are there unfamiliar ideas that God has planted in your heart? God says, it may be an unfamiliar idea, but it will bring you a profitable result. The God-given ideas you want to act on may not sound reasonable to people around you, but God says, as you act on them, you will smile to the bank with huge profit, you will get more results than you imagined, you will break previous limits, and you will step into a new level.

Other fishermen may have gone home because there was no sense in fishing in the day, but Peter let down his net at Jesus’ instance and without any competition, he got a huge result. That uncommon, unfamiliar idea may be God’s way of sending home your competitors.

Isaiah 45 vs. 3 says: “And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places...”

Prayer : Lord, give me an uncommon, unfamiliar idea that will distinguish me, in Jesus’ name!Amen

BE INSTRUCTED BY GOD

“Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.”
(Luke 5: 4)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, Jesus instructed Peter to launch out into the deep and let down his net for a catch. Jesus unveiled His agenda for Peter, and also told Peter where to channel his efforts. God told Peter where his results were waiting for him. The Lake of Gennesaret had different areas, and Jesus didn’t send Peter to try his efforts in the entire sea; He gave Peter a specific instruction that gave him success without trial and error.

Friend, when God gives you specific instructions concerning your efforts, you will hit your target without engaging in rigmarole. When God points you to specific opportunities that He has tailor-made for you, you will walk into them and succeed with ease.

When you allow God to guide you into the right business, career, location, relationships, partnerships, clients, etc, you will be amazed at how your minor efforts will bring you results that your efforts cannot ordinarily explain.

Peter may have done all the trial-and-error he knew, yet without success; but when Jesus instructed him, he only tried once and filled two ships. Trial and error has limits; you can’t become outstanding through trial and error; you can’t become famous through trial and error. Time is too precious to be wasted in a wild goose chase that may never pay off.

Ask God to instruct you in all your ways; ask God to show you the right move to make, the right business interest to pursue, the right clients to retain, the right location to be in, etc.

Ask God to give you specific instructions that will make your Exceeding Expansion easier and faster.

Prayer : Lord, give me instructions that will make my Exceeding Expansion easy, in Jesus’ name!Amen

NO MORE FRUITLESS EFFORTS

“Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.”
(Luke 5: 4)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Prior to Jesus’ encounter with Peter, Peter toiled all night and caught nothing. He made efforts with no results to show for it. He worked hard as a fisherman, he did what should attract results, yet he was empty handed. Peter seemed to be stuck in a cycle of efforts without results. He was in a chapter of his life where he had nothing to show for his efforts.

When Jesus got involved, He instructed Peter to lay down his net for a catch, after which Peter caught so much fish that his own ship could not contain. Peter moved from a phase of fruitless efforts to a phase where little efforts brought resounding results. He moved from emptiness to abundance.

Friend, hear God’s prophetic word: you are stepping out of the season of fruitless efforts and stepping into a season where your little efforts will bring resounding results. You are breaking out of the season of being empty handed despite your efforts. Henceforth, everything you do shall prosper; every effort you make will bring results; every opportunity you take will pay off; every seed you sow will bring a harvest.

When Jehovah is involved, there is no such thing as fruitless efforts. When Jehovah is involved, even a little, regular effort can bring you resounding results. When God remembers you for good, everything you touch will prosper. When God gets involved in the work of your hands, you will move from fruitlessness to super abundance.

Peter’s new tale of fruitfulness began when Jesus became a part of what he was doing. Get God involved in your efforts, and He will cause you to be fruitful.

Prayer: Lord, my little efforts will bring resounding results; no more fruitless efforts, in Jesus’ name!Amen
Welcome To Your Fruitful Season.

TAKE ACTION

“Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.”
(Luke 5: 4)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When Jesus was done speaking God’s word to the multitudes, He commanded Peter to launch out into the deep. While Jesus was teaching the Word, Peter’s ship was just a little bit from the shore. Jesus preached and Peter heard the word in shallow waters. Ordinarily, it is more convenient to come out of shallow waters than to escape from deep waters.

Peter heard the word in shallow waters, but when it was time to take action, Jesus told him to get into the deep waters to catch fish. The hearing of God’s word by Peter was in the place of convenience, but the action that was to follow was at the place of inconvenience. Peter heard the word conveniently, but he took action inconveniently.

Friend, you may hear God’s word conveniently, but dare to do it inconveniently. When God’s word inspires you to take a step of faith, take it even if it is not a convenient action. When God impresses it upon you to sow a seed, do it even if it is not convenient.

If God desires that you serve Him, serve Him even if the service robs you of some comfort. Take the necessary actions, make the necessary prayers, etc even if it is outside of the zone of convenience.

God’s word may sound good to your ears, but it may not be so convenient when you want to practice it. God’s word may excite you, but the actions it demands from you may not be exciting. The steps of faith that God’s word demands from you may not be such that you would readily want to engage in.

Inconvenience is the pathway to the next level. If you can't deny yourself of pleasures and do what your flesh is not comfortable with, you may not be prepared for your Exceeding Expansion.

AWAY FROM DARKNESS

“And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing...”
(Luke 5: 5)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When Jesus instructed Peter to let down his net for a catch, Peter reminded Jesus that he had toiled all night without results. Peter made professional efforts, those efforts were made at night, and he came out empty handed. He made efforts under the cover of darkness, and the efforts were fruitless.

Darkness is synonymous with satanic activity; so could it be that Peter’s efforts were marred by satanic activity? Could it be that forces of darkness caused a professional fisherman like Peter to make efforts that should have brought results, but somehow, the results were nowhere to be found? Could it be possible that 'darkness' crippled Peter’s efforts?

Friend, arise in warfare prayers against any force of darkness that wants to make a mess up your efforts. Pray against every satanic projection that wants you to end up empty handed; pray against every territorial demon that wants to make you labour without results; speak against every force of darkness that wants to waste your time and efforts.

Jesus was absent while Peter made efforts at night, and he ended without results. The absence of Jesus is the greatest darkness that will cripple you. If you leave Jesus out of your efforts, forces of darkness will take over and have dominion over your genuine, professional and competent efforts.

Any darkness around your efforts will open the door for disappointments and disgrace. Destroy every satanic activity surrounding your efforts, and you shall have amazing results.

Ephesians 6 vs. 11 advises: “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

Prayer : Lord, destroy every 'darkness' that wants to make my efforts fruitless, in Jesus’ name!Amen

NEVER THE LESS

“And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.”
(Luke 5: 5)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When Jesus instructed Peter to let down his net, Peter reminded Jesus of how he had made fruitless efforts. Peter came with a nasty experience of working hard and having nothing to show for it. He had a fresh memory of failure; he had a fresh memory of what didn’t work for him.

After reeling out his experience, Peter said, “…nevertheless, at thy word I will let down the net”. The word ‘nevertheless’ can be broken into three words: never the less. Peter seemed to say to Jesus, “At thy word, I can never be the less”. Peter was not about to become the less because of a word from Jesus.

Friend, if you can operate with a word from Jesus, you can never be the less. If you run your race in 2016 with a constant confession of God’s word over your life, you will never be the less; if you keep believing and insisting on what God has said concerning you, you will never be the less. God’s word is the passcode that will stop you from being the less in all your ways.

Circumstances sought to make Peter the less, but God’s word gave him more. When you stay connected to God’s word, Jehovah will have no option but to give you more than you asked for. When you keep listening to God’s word, the word will prevail over every circumstance that wants to make you less. In the absence of the Word, you are less; but with the Word, you are more than you imagine.

Jesus’ word did not fall to the ground. Jesus told Peter what to do, and when he obeyed, he caught a great haul of fishes. Be obedient to God’s word in all your ways, and God will cause you to experience an Exceeding Expansion.

Prayer : Lord, by Your word, I shall never be the less, in Jesus’ name!Amen

YOU WON'T LOSE CONTROL

“6. And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. 7. …they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.” (Luke 5: 6-7)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When Peter caught a great haul of fishes and invited his partners to come to his rescue, soon, both ships were filled and the net got torn. Soon also, they faced the possibility of having their ships sink in the sea because of the load of fishes they carried. Their miracle appeared to be leading to losses and negativity.

In subsequent verses, Peter and his partners brought the ships to the sea shore. So their ships did not sink and their fishes did not get lost. Things seemed to be out of their control, but in the end, things did not go wrong. They were not in control of the situation, but they definitely did not lose control.

Friend, hear God’s prophetic word: you may not be in control but you won’t lose control. You may not be in charge of what is going on around you, but God says, things won’t turn against you. The tide may seem to be turning against your interest, but in the end, nothing will go wrong. People may make arrangements to truncate your destiny, but God says, no matter how hard they try, you will be unscathed and you won’t lose control.

Peter got a word from Jesus, and there was no way his ship was going to sink in Jesus' presence. If you are connected to Jesus, He won't allow the tide to turn against you when you are not in control. When Jehovah is involved in your life, even when the enemies of your destiny appear to be on the brink of winning, God won’t let them win.

Don’t lose sleep whenever you are not directly in control of any situation. God says, you may not be in control, but you won't lose control.

Prayer : Lord, I may not always be in control, but I won’t lose control, in Jesus’ name!Amen

SHARE YOUR OVERFLOW

“And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships...”
(Luke 5: 7)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When Jesus granted Peter the net breaking miracle, the fishes were so many that Peter beckoned on his partners in another ship. Peter had fishing partners whose ship was empty; he had people connected to him who were empty handed. Some people around him had no testimony.

Peter’s ship got filled with fishes, and he invited his partners who came and filled their ship too. The miracle of Peter soon became the miracle of his partners. Peter’s miracle soon overflowed to people who were connected to him. Peter’s testimony was an overflow that was extended to others.

Friend, as God grants you an Exceeding Expansion this year, remember, there are people around you and people connected to you whose ‘ships’ are empty. There are people who may have watched you succeed though they have nothing to show for their own labours; there are people who are depending on your testimony in order to testify; there are people whose breakthroughs lie in that overflow that God has granted you.

God says, when you walk into your overflow, allow your partners to partake from you; allow your family, friends, and people connected to you to be partakers of your Exceeding Expansion. Let people connected to you find relevance through your relevance.

Jesus did not tell Peter to invite James and John to fill their ships with fishes. Peter just took the initiative. Connect your partners to your increase. Let your Exceeding Expansion flow into the lives of people connected to you.

Hebrews 13: 16 (NIV) says: “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.”

Prayer: Lord, I choose to share my overflow with people connected to me, in Jesus’ name!Amen

NO MORE A SPECTATOR

“And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships...”
(Luke 5: 7)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When Jesus wanted to preach to the crowd at Lake Gennesaret, He had two ships to choose from, and He chose Peter’s ship. He used Peter’s ship as a platform to preach. Peter enjoyed the spotlight alongside Jesus; but the partners within the vicinity who also had a ship got no attention from Jesus. Some men appeared to have been left behind.

After Peter’s net breaking miracle, he invited the partners who also had a ship. The people who seemed forgotten suddenly became relevant again. They may have been away from the spotlight for a while, despite having a ship, but when it was time for results, they were not left behind. They didn’t even do as much as Peter did, but they got results.

Friend, you may not be in the spotlight yet, you may not have been chosen yet, your testimonies may not have begun yet, you may seem to have been left behind, but God says, when it is time for results to manifest, you won’t be left behind. You may not work as hard as others who are currently ahead of you, but when it is time for results, as they count theirs, you will count yours.

God says, you won’t be left behind in the matter of success. You won’t be a spectator while others tell the tales of their Exceeding Expansion. You won’t be counted among those whose ships remained empty while others had their ships laden with God’s abundant supply.

The same God who did it for others will also do it for you; the same God who remembered others will also remember you.

2 Corinthians 9: 8 says: “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:”

Prayer : Lord, as You do for others, You will also do for me, in Jesus’ name!Amen

PROFITABLE PARTNERSHIPS

“And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships...”
(Luke 5: 7)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When Peter got his net breaking miracle, he invited his partners who turned out to be James and John. Though James and John had a ship that Jesus didn’t use, they were connected to the person whose ship was being used by Jesus. They didn’t enjoy same attention as Peter, but they were still partners.

When Peter's net was filled, the first beneficiaries were his partners. What began as a positive partnership brought positive benefits to James and John. They connected to a man who Jesus had blessed, and they became partakers of the blessing. They had a strategic connection that brought them benefits.

Friend, God will give you strategic connections that will bring benefits. God will bring you men whose blessings will flow into your life. God will cause you to enjoy the overflow of people you are connected to; God will open the doors of your life to strategic relationships that will be beneficial and profitable to you. God will bring you partners that will be a huge blessing to your life.

When you see men who are blessed, connect to them and you will enjoy God's blessings through them. The fact that someone around you is blessed should not be an occasion for hate and envy. The fact that someone around you got blessed before you does not mean that your own blessing is not on the way.

James and John were both blessed because of the right partnership they built with Peter. The right partnerships will bless you, but wrong partnerships will take your destiny down the drains.

Hebrews 10 vs. 24 says: “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:”

Prayer : Lord, bring me strategic connections/partnerships that will bless me, in Jesus’ name!Amen

DESTINY HELPERS

“1. ...he sendeth forth two of his disciples, 2. And saith unto them... ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.”
(Mark 11: 1-2)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When Jesus got set to release the colt from where it was, He sent two of His disciples to untie the colt. The colt was about to step into a new level, it was about to be celebrated, and Jesus sent two destiny helpers to help the colt. The colt could not untie itself, it didn’t know the way to Jerusalem, and Jesus sent two destiny helpers to help the colt.

Friend, God is aware of the things you can’t do for yourself, He knows the battles you can’t fight for yourself, He knows the limits you can’t break by yourself, He knows the things you can’t achieve by yourself, He knows what your strength and abilities can't accomplish, He knows the people you can't contact directly, He knows the successes you need but can’t make happen by yourself.

Today, God will send you destiny helpers that will do for you what you can't do for yourself. God will send you destiny helpers that will fight for you and open doors for you; He will send you men who will introduce you in high places and make your journey to success easier and faster; He will send you destiny helpers that will take you from where you are to where you should be.

God will send you destiny helpers that will take you to where you can’t go by yourself and give you what you can’t give yourself; He will send you destiny helpers that will help you when you haven’t even asked for help.

Isaiah 60 vs. 10 sums it up: “And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee.”

Prayer : Lord, send me divine destiny helpers, in Jesus’ name!Amen

Receive Your Divine Destiny Helpers.

NOT BY MAJORITY

“2. ...ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him. 3. And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him...”
(Mark 11: 2-3)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, Jesus sent two of His disciples to fetch a colt. Jesus had twelve disciples, and He didn’t send as much as half of them, He sent only two; He sent people who were in a minority; He didn’t need to send everybody. That assignment would later pave the way for His triumphant entry into Jerusalem, and only a minority was sent.

Friend, in this year of Exceeding Expansion, God doesn't need the majority to be in your favour before you can rise; God does not need the majority to make your Exceeding Expansion a reality; God doesn't need everyone and everything - bosses, colleagues, clients, economy, etc - to support your progress before it can materialize. God is not dependent on majority.

Jesus told the two disciples whom He sent that if any man queries them, they should say that the Lord has need of the colt. So the minority that went on an assignment were to use the name of the Lord if any opposition arose. It didn’t matter that they were in a minority: their victory formula was ‘The Lord’.

When the majority is not on your side, remember, the Lord is on your side; and if Jehovah is on your side, the majority may oppose you but they can’t stop you. If you tag along with the Lord this year, you will demystify the majority that is not with you.

The name of the Lord is the antidote for every majority that is not in your favour. Your success is not by majority, it is by the name of the Lord.

Psalm 20 vs. 7 says: “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.”

Prayer ; Lord, my success is not at the mercy of the majority; it is a function of grace, in Jesus’ name!Amen

TREASURES FROM OPPOSITION

“And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.”
(Mark 11: 2)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, Jesus sent His disciples to a village that was over and against them; it was in this village that they found a colt on which Jesus would later sit. Jesus needed the colt to ride into Jerusalem, and the colt was located in a village that was against them.

In the village that was against Jesus and His disciples, a colt was found for Jesus’ use. The word 'against' speaks of 'opposition'. Jesus’ disciples entered a village that was in opposition to them, and took out a valuable treasure. They took a treasure out of their opposition.

Friend, you will take treasures out of every opposition you face in destiny. You will take progress out of every setback; you will take increase out of every conspiracy that wants to reduce you; when men gang up against you, God will use their gang up as an occasion to make you smile again; whereas they came to make you cry, you will come out with dances and celebrations.

God says, your battles will give you treasures; the same things and people that are opposing you will give you benefits. The same things that want to cut short your progress will give you treasures; you will take valuable lessons out of every opposition you face. Your haters and challengers have no idea that they are helping you increase your intimacy with God, unwavering faith, resilience, passion, commitment, etc.

Don’t focus on the negativity that your battles represent; focus on the treasures you can take out of them. If God be for you, though they meant it for evil, God will turn it around for your good.

Prayer : Lord, I will take treasures out of every battle and opposition I face this year, in Jesus’ name!Amen

HELPED BY GOD

“And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.” (Mark 11: 2)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When Jesus sent His disciples to get Him a colt from the next village, they loosed the colt and brought it to Jesus, around Bethphage and Bethany. The colt moved from a village to another village. Men helped the colt, it made movements and progress, but it only moved from one village to another.

Jesus eventually rode upon the colt and entered Jerusalem. Jerusalem is the capital city of Israel; Jerusalem is a prominent city. When Jesus got involved, the colt moved from village to city; it moved from obscurity to visibility. Jesus' involvement changed the story of the colt significantly. Where men stopped was where Divinity started.

Friend, God is about to move you from obscurity to undeniable visibility. God will take you from where you are now to that better place that only He can bring you to; God is about to change your location for the better. Men may have helped you without changing your story; get set, God will take you from where men abandoned you to a new level where you will be celebrated and congratulated.

If all the help you ever get comes from men, you will be limited to their abilities; but when God helps you by Himself, your results will amaze you and shock everyone around you. When God helps you, it’s not all about your ability to receive; it is about His ability to give.

Look beyond the help of men and ask God to send you divine help that will change your story for good. When the help of men can no longer move you forward, God will make a way. When you are helped by God, you will move from obscurity to undeniable visibility.

Prayer : Lord, grant me help that will change my story for good, in Jesus’name!Amen
