Because religion itself was nothing but pure manipulation of mankind to think in a certain way.

Lee Rigby: Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale deny murder

The Guardian, Friday 27 September 2013 14.35 BST

Suspects charged with murdering Rigby close to Woolwich barracks in May, will remain in custody until trial begins on 18 November

The two men accused of murdering a soldier in broad daylight near Woolwich barracks have pleaded not guilty to the killing.
Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale are charged with murdering Lee Rigby in May in what the authorities claim was a terrorist act.

Rigby, 25, was attacked as he returned to Woolwich barracks in south London.

At a pre-trial hearing on Friday at the Old Bailey in central London, both men entered pleas to the murder charge for the first time since their arrest.

Adebowale, 22, from Greenwich, south-east London, is accused of murdering Rigby on 22 May and possessing a firearm, a 9.4mm KNIL model 91 revolver.

Adebolajo, 28, from Romford, Essex, is also accused of Rigby's murder, the attempted murder of two police officers, and possession of a firearm with intent to cause others to believe that violence would be used.

Adebolajo asked to be called Mujahid Abu Hamza. Adebowale has asked to be referred to as Ismail Ibn Abdullah during proceedings.

In court were relatives of Fusilier Rigby, the father of a two-year-old son.

Both defendants appeared by video link and were seated during the pre-trial hearing. Adebolajo wore a maroon T-shirt while Adebowale was in a red sweatshirt.

Both men spoke only to confirm their identities and to enter their pleas to the total of six charges they face.

They will remain in custody until their trial which the judge, Mr Justice Sweeney, has scheduled to begin on 18 November at the Old Bailey.

At the time of the attack, Rigby was attached to the regimental recruiting team and was on his way back to barracks in Woolwich from a shift working at the Tower of London.

Rossikk: This one is demanding evidence that the US and Britain support Libyan and Syrian terror groups. I think it is best to return to your motor park or palmwine tapping duties. The word has left you behind. If it's any help, even hardcore supporters of western policy here, such as eGuerilla, do not bother disputing this commonly known fact.

You should seek help!

How you can live with yourself, putting up a senseless defense for a brutal murderer is beyond me. Perhaps you have some closet terrorist tendencies? You should hang your head in shame! Your hatred of the west and your blind defense for anything black has left you without a moral compass or common sense.

This is not a thread for discussion of global politics or the role of the West in funding Al-Qaeida. This is a thread for the murder of Lee Rigby - an event which left the entire world shocked to pants! For you to claim that this must have been nothing short of conspiracy theory is nothing but an insult to the the victim's family and all those whose lives have changed by witnessing the horrific manner by which Lee Rigby was hacked to death!

True enough, everyone charged with a penal offence has the right to be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law in a public trial at which he has had all the guarantees necessary for his defence. They have a right to have their day in court, this right DOES NOT MAKE THEM INNOCENT! If you do not understand the difference, then perhaps, your confusion is from your comprehension abilities?

Thank you very much! That source says the trial of the two brainwashed individuals will begin on November 10. This statement of 'not guilty of murder' to me is to allow time for more vital evidences. Where are the law practitioners on Nairaland to explain this situation for us?

Rossikk: Shut up. They are innocent until PROVEN guilty in a court of law. All YOU have seen is pictures and film which can be easily manipulated.

Seems this individual supports islamic extremism.

JustifiedChild: you are a clown!!! Lol.
@ Rossick what is your point?.. Stop defending evil. The fact that they are of nigerian descent, the fact that they are muslims doesn't mean you should make excuses for crimes they obviously committed.we have seen the videos, we have seen the pictures, infact they were arrested at the crime scene,so I ask again, what exactly is your point?! Have you no conscience? How do you sleep at night sef?
Kindly return to the kitchen if you are incapable of following a debate.

Save your madness for your sub-intellectual equals. You call Adebolajo a brutal murderer, while admitting he is innocent until proven guilty. That alone signifies your low IQ. And YES. This IS a discussion on terrorism, and so the role played by the UK and US in sponsoring terrorism cannot be ignored in the frenzy to condemn individual small fry like Adebolajo. It takes the most stupefyingly diseased and imbecilic mind to overlook countries spending billions to train and arm terrorists, only to focus on the alleged individual perpetrators of such terrorism. I will not be party to such a charade. Until snoozing dunces like you stand up for truth, you will continue being deceived like the infantile, thoughtless, stup.id, brain-dead sheeple you are.

Theben: At times, jungle justice is necessary. If these guys had been burnt to death as soon as they committed the murder, they wouldn't have had any opportunity of pleading innocence. Nonsense

Could? I thought you were sure it was a conspiracy? So you dispute an event that was widely reported by the media & widely accepted by the masses as a fabrication all based on a COULD?
Why not? If the story makes no sense, of course it can be disputed, whether or not it is "widely reported by the media and accepted by the public". The media are bought over and the public are largely unquestioning sheeple. It was widely reported that Iraq had WMDs just ready to strike, and it was widely accepted by the public. Later events showed it was all a pack of lies.

I thought for a guy who claims to possess so much legal knowledge would know not to make bold claims without substantial evidence to back them up or don't you think?
What bold claims?

You mention Logic, so you discredit a clear event just based on your logic, so everyone is wrong, you are right?
There was no "clear event" except in your head. Also, many people around the world dispute and question the official account of the event. You should read more widely and visit more forums.

According to one of your comments, you say those guys are innocent until proven guilty, so from that statement, you have faith in the judicial system by which they are going to be tried right? As its obvious according to you the verdict would be authentic right?
I give every judicial system the benefit of doubt. He may be convicted on flimsy evidence. That wouldn't be the first time such a thing occurred in Britain or elsewhere.

Then if there is a conspiracy, what makes you think the trial itself won't be fabricated?
it could be fabricated. That does not mean the suspect is not protected by the innocent until proven guilty rule.
