Today's First Reading Genesis 22:1-19


'...I swear by my own self – it is the Lord who speaks – because you have done this, because you have not refused me your son, your only son, I will shower blessings on you, I will make your descendants as many as the stars of heaven and the grains of sand on the seashore. Your descendants shall gain possession of the gates of their enemies. All the nations of the earth shall bless themselves by your descendants, as a reward for your obedience....’

Can you feel the swag of our God when he said "I swear by my own self"...? He must have looked all around the Universe, containing more than 100 billion galaxies, he must have looked at our milky way, which is an average sized galaxy with a diameter of "Just" 100 light years(consider that light travels 8.77 trillion miles a year)! Some men swear by things sacred, so He must have looked everywhere but found nothing more sacred, Some are fascinated and swear by things huge;so He must have found nothing more huge, Some are intrigued and swear by things glittering; so He must have found nothing more glittering, Some are awed and swear by things mysterious; so He must have found nothing more mysterious anywhere, than Himself. Hence He declared "I sear by my own self"....Yes He swore by Himself; for there is nothing that could compare to Him. Oh The swag of our God, what a mighty God we serve.


"I love the Lord for he has heard the cry of my appeal; for he turned his ear to me in the day when I called him". Psalm 114.

Such is the declaration of the Psalmist, and I dare say...such is the declaration of this Catholic family. I said there where gonna be testimonies after our Novena, and we've been Inundated by various, believe me there are some untold and some still to come, for our God had turned His ear to us in those days when we called. Let's rejoice and be glad, let's be filled with praises for Him, for He answers when we call. His time is best for you. Even if you've not felt His answer,do not worry, for He surely knows what to do for you. Remember, it matters not to God if Lazarus was still sick or dead, He will make Lazarus alive and healthy in His time. I bless God with you all who have shared testimonies with us, and I look forward to the next Novena prayers coming up in October.

The house of God...the gate of heaven...Jnrbayano did you notice something? Yes o, did you not notice a relationship between this statement and what Jesus said in Matt. 16:18-19 "...and upon this rock I will build my church...And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven...". God has never hidden it, the people of God had always known it, that through the Church, God dispenses all that is necessary to go to heaven. On earth, the church is the pathway to heaven, that's why the psalmist was so happy seeing people go to the house of God " I rejoiced when I heard them say: let us go to the house of the Lord" Ps.122. For in the house of God there is fulness of Joy, peace flows like a river, comfort is given to the distressed, hope to the wearied and strength to the weak. Yes freedom is given to the captives, for truth is enthroned in the church 1Tim 3:15. Though you'll find thieves(sinners) in the house of God Matt.21:13, yet it's a home for saints Phill.4:21. Italo my brother, Where is the house of God on earth, where is the gate of heaven, which is the Church.. or where do you find the keys of heaven? As at this moment, as I speak to you, no one else lay a claim to it than the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. Only this Church says for example with audacity "Maria goretti is in heaven, ask her to pray for you". Why so? you may ask, and i will respond "If you have the keys to a place, won't you recognize those you open the gate for? Who else can say like the apostles in Acts 15 "It has pleased us and the Holy spirit, not to impose any burden on you...". Did you notice that Jacob was in the House of God without knowing? why? It is because he was sleeping. Haven't you heard them say "When I was in the catholic church bla bla bla, but now I have seen the light bla bla bla". Beloved SalC, they were sleeping! A lot sleep in the house of God, many sleep and wake up to realize like Jacob, but some walk in their sleep, and away they go before they wake. They both had the dream, but where did you find your self when you wake? The right spot where you slept or did you sleep walk to a wrong spot. Sleep walking is a disorder, it couldn't have taken you to a right place, may God help sleep walkers.

ChineloSA, what do they know? No one told them of the battle of lepanto(1571) and the role of Mary in keeping all of them Christians today, against mohammedans.
