Good morning all, happy feast of immaculate conception You guys need to clap for me. I went for confession yesterday from work and some dude on the queue called me over and started advising me on how its wrong for me to wear trousers for confession. that I am a woman. that he is only trying to help me. I was tempted to abuse him thoroughly, infact i wanted to take his head and hit the chair. I was already reaching towards him with anger in my heart and soul, opening my mouth to curse his generations past and present when the Holy Spirit broke through and calmed me down. It has to have been the Holy Spirit because at that moment i was seeing red and i just wanted blood. But i remembered a conversation on how a lot of people have not accepted change going on around them in the world and then i calmed down. God saved me from myself Have a nice day 1 Like |

"We declare, pronounce and define that the doctrine which holds that the Blessed Virgin Mary, at the first instant of her conception, by a singular privilege and grace of the Omnipotent God, in virtue of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of mankind, was preserved immaculate from all stain of original sin, has been revealed by God, and therefore should firmly and constantly be believed by all the faithful." — Pope Pius IX, Ineffabilis Deus, December 8, 1854 Often times you hear some Catholics explain the immaculate conception as the Virgin birth, i.e the conception of Jesus in the virginal womb of Mary. This is wrong. The immaculate conception is the conception of Mary in the womb of Ann, and Mary was without original sin. Hmm...how is that? "The papal definition of the dogma declares with absolute certainty and authority that Mary possessed sanctifying grace from the first instant of her existence and was free from the lack of grace caused by the original sin at the beginning of human history. Mary's salvation was won by her son Jesus Christ through his passion, death, and resurrection and was not due to her own merits." To break this down, it means that the merits of Christ passion, death and resurrection (which paid our debts of original sin, but which we gain at baptism), was applied to Mary at the very first moment of her existence. Why was this necessary? It was necessary because, God cannot be seen to dwell under the devil's roof at anytime. Mary cannot be steeped in sin of any sort and still carry God in her womb. Did scripture make any exposition on this? Of all the passages we can draw inference from, Gen.3:15 is the most insightful. Here God prophesied to creat enemity between the serpent and the woman, it's seed and her seed. It follows thus that at no point in time will either the woman or her seed be in the devil's hold. Every one of us were once in the devil's hold, that's why one of the things baptism does is to make us "Children of God"...I hope you remember your catechism..., but Mary and Jesus were never in such a situation. The Lourdes connection Four years after the church defined this dogma, the blessed Virgin began to appear to a young naive girl of about 12 years old, in the town of Lourdes in France. On being questioned by the parish priest for the name of the woman appearing to her, the young girl in turn asked the Lady apparition who she was, the lady then responded "Je suis l'mmaculee conception- I am the immaculate conception". Lourdes today remains one of the greatest pilgrimage centres and a place known for many miraculous recoveries. I recall our sister babestell was there sometime ago and lighted a candle for us. God bless us all as we celebrate. Good morning, and a splendid day ahead to all. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Syncan: Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help or sought your intercession, was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer me. Amen. |

Today's responsorial R.Blessed are all who wait for the Lord (see Isaiah 30:18d) Brethren, just a passing thought...while in "Abraham's bossom " , (Lk. 16:19...) did Lazarus have regrets for the many years he suffered on earth, did he feel let down by God for not mitigating his plight on earth till he died? Am i going to feel bad in heaven if i didn't get something i am asking God for now ? The answer lies within us. Good morning brethren , a splendid day ahead to all. 1 Like |
