Nigeria is finished. Where are they getting money from to pay for such costly tuition fee for their ward. No wonder ASSU always goes on strike

I am a member of RCCG but I'm highly embarrassed by the school fees of RUN.. the seminarians that brought education to us (CMS, bariga) made it free for all to have access to education. members of these churches (RCCG, LIVING FAITH, CAC, BAPTIST, and so on) contributed their hard earned money to build these schools but couldn't send their wards to the schools. the school is built for the thieving class that bastardized our education sector. RCCG secondary school is paying 600k per term which amounts to 1.8million per annum. for Christ sake, where is d love towards d poor d church is preaching? I think it's high time government started taxing churches. it has become business and how can u be doing business without paying tax? til dis day in developed countries, missionary schools pay less than normal govt schools e.g Barry university in Florida owned by catholic

I school at Novena Uni. And I pay 378k per year. One of the cheapest in Nigeria but accomodation is poo. One good thing about the school is that unlike other private unin there is freedom, we hold musical show from time to time inside the school, I stay off campus, cooking is not officially allowed but students cook in hostel..

Re: Most Expensive Private Universities In Nigeria Unveiled by Nobody: 3:46pm On Dec 22, 2013
Expenses so far:
I attend a state university, and here is the break-down of my expenses so far:

FIRST YEAR:
1. Acceptance Fee: #20,000
2. School Fee: #65,000
3. Medical and Reg.: #20,000
4. Accommodation: #40,000
5. Feeding: #10,000/month ~ #40,000

TOTAL = #185,000

SECOND YEAR:
1. School Fee: #65,000
2. Registrations: ~#6000
3. Accommodation: #40,000
4. Books: #23,000
5. Feeding: ~#40,000

TOTAL = #173,000

Third year commence next year, I would probably be spending less.

DISADVANTAGES:

1. ASUU strike! No matter how cheap public university is, it doesn't worth wasting a year or two or my life to ASUU strike!

2. Our lecturers are lazy, so of them can pass for a sadist; the would let you know they never made First class, so you should probably forget about it too. I don't know if this happens in private universities too.

ADVANTAGE:
1. I get to meet people from diverse backgrounds. See the other side of life, make friends that loves my for whom I am, not because they know my parent is rich or whatever. (This I am most grateful for)

2. Life is a struggle! I've learn this so far.

3. I get to shine! Leveraging on what others don't know really exist! I've been able to bag three awards in two years! One for leadership (based on my contribution to school IT) and the other for my humanitarian activities.

4. I've been able to explore some parts of Africa; all expenses paid! (I know this does not apply to everybody, but the good thing about public university is that, you're giving a platform to shine! People don't see you as weak and "ajebo boy" but rather somebody that is willing to make positive contribution to his society)

Does it worth it??
If I say no, it's probably because I've been home for the past four month or so. Generally, it does worth it. Let's hope there won't be another strike in the next three years.

U must be very funny, An art student pays a minimum of 7,300k per annum 4 just tuition fee which should sum up to 29,200 in 4years, what about those faculty/departmental dues? Feeding n accommodation nkoh? Except u meant strictly tuition without other miscellaneous like accommodation, feeding, textbooks, dept'al charges etc

futurewise11: my german class mate refer me to this section and i need to chip in that its a big shame on nigerian leaders and some religion leaders.how will the common man benefit from govt if not through education.all sector of the economy is destroy to make there private investment(university, generator importing companies) viable.

its totally absurd that some europeans see us as a true giant of africa, beleive me its a total fallacy.some religion leader get all this resource to build school from church/mosque(tithe,offering,donational) only for them to turn it into money venture without considering the common man/woman in the church all in the name of religion.my people please open your eyes.how many people can afford all these outragious school fees?when ever they have headache, backpain, dysfunction manhood they run to germany, why cant they provide standard medical facility in our country with our resources?
God really save that senator that come to my school hospital for treatment the other day.

come to europe as a student, expecially countries with free education (like finland, germany, denmark etc)you will know that nigeria is backword academically.my point is they destroy govt university to make there investment in private university survive chikena.

@ futurewise11, please remove Denmark from the least of countries with free tetiary education. In Denmark thing have long changed, foreign students without scholarships pay about 50,000DKK (around 1.6M NGN) per annum as fees.
I do not know why it sort of "annoys" me when public university mainly Federal University students say the are paying school fees. It should be appreciated that education in the federal universities are heavily subsidized. I doubt that the amount paid as fees in these schools can be enough to run them for 30 days out of 365 days in a year.
From confession of students, people finish a 4 to 5 year university course "paying' less than 100,000 NGN (750 USD). Compare this with the US where graduates come out with greater than 25,000 USD student loan liability on their neck.
Quality education does not come cheap. We should appreciate what we have and encourage our government to improve on the quality of our public education, so that bright kids from poor homes can get good education, while private university cater for the needs of those that can afford them.

Bros, greedy egboka don join ASUU oh.
ajoguegbe: I finished from UNIZIK in 2001, all my school fees was 8,500 Naira from year one to final year. That is 2,000 Naira per year. I thank God we didnt join other schools to go on their regular strikes. I dont know how my alma mater is doing now.

I thank God for private universities for uplifting the standard of education in the country. You may say its for the rich, so who stops you from becoming rich? We shouldn't weaken the strong, in an attempt to strengthen the weak.

Le Rosey, Chateau de Rosey –
Rolle, Switzerland: $73,150
If you’ve ever wondered where the
ultra rich and royals send their
young offspring for an education,
wonder no more. Le Rosey is the
school for the social elite. With a
tuition rate of $73,150, it is the
most expensive international
school in the world. The school sits
on a 28 hectares site, which sports
10 tennis courts for the students to
use and learn a true gentleman’s
sport. Various Jacuzzis may be
found on the campus, to soothe
sore and achy muscles after a long
day of swimming, skiing or hiking.
Secluded, private saunas and steam
rooms dot the campus, a perfect
location for young people to learn
how to network or just relax
amidst some chatting. They also
have an excellent sailing center,
teaching the young aristocrats how
to handle their own private yachts.
