Where did you get that idea? And, why does it bother you?
Re: Nairaland Official Chess Thread! by fearlesschicken: 3:14pm On Dec 31, 2015
We live in a male dominated society,it is expected that chess itself is part of such.
Ladies category different from male category in chess.
Why do we have a world chess champion and a world woman chapimon it doesn't make any sense!
Why?
Oh yeah males are more hard wired than women when it comes to chess. -said by a world famous Gm
A male beats a female its normal, a lady beats a male. He probably allowed her to win.

Why is it of interest to me? Lol that's shouldn't be a concern to you.

You check it up on google yourself and you would see many articles on it.

Lol calm down, nobody is stopping women from competing for the World Chess Champion title.

I've forgotten the year but I'm pretty sure Judit Polgar has taken part in a candidates tournament (She didn't qualify for the title match though).

There is no barrier whatsoever preventing women from playing against men as seen even in the just concluded Qatar Masters.

Men have just dominated the game over the years.

The woman World Chess Champion title could even be seen as compensation if you ask me, just the way the WGM title is easier to get relative to the GM title (less difficult criteria involved) and still, nobody will stop any woman from attempting to get the GM title if she so desires

It is expected. Maybe by you and people of similar psychological/personality structure to yours. Definitely not all the world (of chess). So, keep on expecting.

GMs like Nigel Short are known for their feeble attempts at political incorrectness in the world of chess, nothing new about that. Even Kasparov had to disagree with his notions of unequal intelligence levels between men and women chessplayers (after himself coming to grips with the Polgar Sisters phenomenon).

Plus, as persuasive as an argument a GM makes might be (just because of his/her title), it doesn't make it any more sound.

He probably allowed her to win?! That, my friend, is bigotry. There are sooo many factors that come into play on who wins/loses a chess game, it's completely insane to attribute it solely to gender... moreso in the way you made that statement.

The battle of the sexes rears its head once again, in the chess world of all places. Pointlessly so.

Since we're talking about gender and chess, see this short YT example of where none other than Korchnoi went nuts after losing a blitz game to Sofia grin

Hi guyz.

There is this website and here is the link-- www.postscroll.com/threads/81/postscroll-multiplayer-chess-game . Looks like a nigerian website and it supports online chess multiplayer.

It also supports mobile but I think Pc experience might be ideal.

How about organizing like a quick friendly/ mini-tournament- just for fun. Anybody in?.

I'm tagging it just "friendly" coz I don't think one can really know if one's opponent is having an "external" helping hand.

So again,who is in?

Doesn't support my mobile.

I think a 'nairaland' group on chess.com might be better. Let's see what others say.

Here's the link --http://www.postscroll.com/threads/82/official-chess-thread Let's see how people replicate their "paper strategy" on a board grin

A position I had against an opponent on Chess.com today.
I gladly sacrificed my rook(Rxf3) without calculating knowing I had more pieces on the king side.
He lost in the next four moves.

Are you white or black. Whose turn is it to move?

Tushbobo was Black. Nice exchange sac, btw.

As white I would have played 25. Qg5, to keep my consolidate the number of pieces protecting the king

Hmm, let's see... off the top of my patzer head undecided 23...Rxf3 24.gxf3 Qxh3, then if 25.Qg5 as you said, then ...Rf6 looks dangerous cuz 26.Ng3 Rg6 looks pretty strong. 27.Qd8+ Bf8 with 28...Nxg3 to follow. The white king is exposed anyways.
Re: Nairaland Official Chess Thread! by forap(m): 12:17pm On Mar 19, 2016
True that, I didn't even analyse it that much

Then again, 25.Qg5 might work if you change up the move order a lil' bit... that is, if I play ...Rf6, you play 26.Qg2 Rg6 27.Ng3 blocking that rook off! Probably the best move after 25.Qg5 is ...e4! with the bishop coming into the party, threatening mate! Then 26.Qg2 Qxg2+ 27.Kxg2 exf3+ forking, 28.Kg1 fxe2 29.Re1 Nf4 and Black will drive his g and h pawns down the road to victory.

Don't mind me abeg smiley I just like to analyse stuff, tryna tread on my path to chess improvement, which mainly involves pumping up my visualizing and calculating muscles to death!

Good calculation! My Qg5 suggestion was probably right then. Even if it would lose in the end, I figured that should be white's next move.
