shegunn: lol Not his fault na. His opponent really gave him a tough time. Ds is a game he would live to remember. although his not so good in rapid games buh kudos to karjakin , d guy has really put up a fight. 12 games with world's no.1 ooo chai!, even though he loses in d rapid games, d guy has earned my respect! in other news HBD to magnus carlsen! *** modified*** Magnus carlsen won d 2016 championship. after 12 classic games without a winner, carlsen won in the rapid games. Respect to karjakin though. (began to rout for him after game 6) 2 Likes 1 Share

Hello Guys I have an issue I think we should discuss.... The concept of female prizes in Nigerian chess I get the idea that it helps to promote ladies in chess but I feel that the title tends to celebrate mediocrity indirectly. Especially for some of the ladies who may just focus on getting the female prize and forget that the main prize that is also available for them as well. It just creates an unending cycle.....You see some ladies only coming to participate because they hear that there is a female prize available. That shouldn't be at all, what's wrong with giving everyone a fair chance of winning? The same playing field? If you keep on with the concept of giving female prizes will most of the females ever see the reason of wanting to compete on a higher scale like everyone else? Wanting to push the boundary? Is there another way we can encourage ladies without using the concept of female prizes? |

ositadima1: Hello! I find this your post very offensive and uncalled for, if you want to challenge me then do it like any reasonable person will do it. Why use such words when no one is fighting with you? Can't you at least display some sense of maturity? Sorry to say you can't survive in the chess world or even the world in general with this your attitude. 2 Likes |

alex81: You're rooting for someone that was facing a Carlsen that was not a full strength? He's going back to his normal number 9 position tho with the current LCC in London. |

WackyJ1: u mean carlsen was not at full strength during d match oh pls spare me doze excuses. for somebody dat crushed Nakamura barely 2 weeks b4 d tournament... I think he's at full strength... u need to see his face when sergey had d first win...lol me rooting for sergey doesn't mean his better, I just admire d effort n hardwrk he invested in making d title a little bit hard for carlsen. and finally show some love to d underdog, u don't have to wish him bad na ... lol |
Re: Nairaland Official Chess Thread! by WackyJ1(m): 8:10pm On Dec 13, 2016 |
alex81: Someone that crushed nakamura? You mean the person that lost to Nakamura for the first time before that match? Before he then went on a Crushing spree. He had Sergey in games 3 & 4 but failed to convert. The Loss in Game 8 Jolted him back to reality. Sergey has always been a great defender but he didn't put in the work needed to beat carlsen. He came in there with the let's survive this mentality. He only won because Carlsen pushed too hard trying to win. The match was always Carlsen's to Win or Draw. At a point i even said that Wesley so in his current Form would have been a better match than this and I was proven right because Wesley So just joined the 2800 club. However this match has crowned Karjakin the World Chess Defense Champion. Carlsen needs to up his game if Karjakin could hold him like this. Wetin for happen if Caruana Jam am? |

WackyJ1: don't know which game u talking abt. but ds is d game I was referring to.( see pix). it was d last game carlsen played before the WC, of which he won. don't know if ur for or against sergey? cos ur previous comment was full of hate for him and now ur giving kudos to him. am confused.

Re: Nairaland Official Chess Thread! by WackyJ1(m): 9:31pm On Dec 13, 2016 |
alex81: I'm neither For or against, I just know that he couldn't have taken the title from Carlsen. That was the blitz battle , I was talking about the Bilbao Masters 2016, ,His first round loss and first ever loss to Nakamura in a classical Game. That Blitz battle (and the Paris Blitz leg of the GCT) proved that if it ever entered blitz, Karjakin would definitely lose. |

Great chess fans here...great comments...although I feel carlsen is still the strongest despite Wesley so's exploits in the LCc. |
