Its so unfortunate. I cant believe this is still thesame mikel that only came second behind messi oly because we lose to the argentines in the final.
Evreryone have been hopping he improve ever since.
I cant believe this was thesame mikel that caused a heated battle between man u and chelsea.

iwonbaoko: Mikel is not entirely to blame. Nigeria wanted him to develop as a 10 but Mourinho wants him as a 4. A replacement to Makelele and because of Lampard he was not given the opportunity as a 10. He should learn from the likes of Pogba. Mikel moved to Chelsea very young before his education was complete on very high wages and I think that killed his hungr and desire to improve. Now he is confused whether to play as a 4 or a 10. With hindsight it is clear Chelsea was not the right club for him. I would advise that he moves to a club like Liverpool or ManU Arsenal or go to Germany. He is still talented and just needs to work with the right coach.Mourinho can be a talent killer as we saw with Robben who would be telling the same story if he stayed at Chelsea.
liar, robben left due to injury, epl was too hard for him cos of his injury prone then, robben did well for chelsea, mikel should be grateful that he rejected man united for chelsea, if not he would have been playing for division 2 or cardiif city, we all know how SAF doesnt give africa players chance to prove themselves, e.g djemba djemba, fortune, miram diouf, manucho, he rather play cleverly an english player, he even said it then that only essien and drogba are quality player from africa before the emergence of Y. toure. as op said, nigeria use over age during youth tournament and they are still hungry for success n money then, from there they face the real stars and age no longer on their side, btw, were is chrisantus, stanley okoro, oseni, alfa , you think mikel was/is better than these players i mentioned, NO, mikel was just lucky to have a good agent(john shittu), who push him up there just like my friend who is in porto fc academy now, google his name AGU MIKEL IN PORTO if you doubt me,they went to a tournament in SA thats how porto scout picked him and he wasnt the best player in the team just cos of influence, the coach told the scout that he was his best cos money have exchange hands, the guy told me this himself.

safarigirl: wetin do me? Has the guy not been crucified enough?

What did he do wrong to deserve all of this? Did he pull a Suarez? Did he sscore OG? Doesn't it take 11 people to kick a ball? Why not sacrifice the other 10? Na only Mikel waka come Brazil?

Anyone who can't get over our exit needs to get a life. This is what happens when Nigerian government refuses to provide jobs, one jobless mofo that breaks palm kernel for a living will come here with borrowed BB to type nonsense about a man that has a proper job and is earning his pay.

Anybody beefing Mikel should go and give birth to our next number 10 or go buy soccer boot. Ogini?
is mikel ur uncle? People lik u are products of failed experiment.

I think some people are just barbaric in their judgement. Even if Mikel was a superman, the Super eagles wouldn't have won the tournament. Check this outhttp://m.bbc.com/sport/football/28274470

Forget about isolating a player out for criticism, the whole team didn't try enough.

Lordabas:
Dear Mikel,

I’ve just been looking at you… I’ve just sat down in this my corner and I’ve been looking at you and the rubbish that you played in this World Cup. God knows if I had told you what was on my mind before now, FIFA would have banned Nigeria from competitive football for at least 5 years.

Before the competition kicked off proper majority of Nigerians believed you would be key to the team’s chances, and if you had a good tournament the team would too. We had some concerns after the first few friendlies in which you played absolute rubbish, but optimistically waved your performances away chalking it down to the non-competitiveness of friendly games.

Oya the World Cup started and it was time to step up to the plate. Apparently you left your plate back on the bench at Chelsea where you have a designated spot complete with a power outlet to charge your phone while the games are played. Against Iran Nigerians cringed to watch you stroll round the midfield like you were the reigning World Footballer of the Year, losing the ball time and time again with your ‘big-man’ passes and over-exposing poor Ogenyi Onazi as you refused to help defend. Okay, maybe it’s because it’s Iran and Mikel will step up against Bosnia, we said. Wishful thinking. We suffered through another lethargic performance in which you were nearly invisible and we saw more of the linesmen than your otu arse. Thank God for Osaze and Emenike, two of our standout performers at the competition for combining sweetly and bagging the goal that won the game for us. Their excellent performances overshadowed your disappointing showing. Osaze, a 32-year old player was running his lungs out that day while Mikel, reportedly 27 years old (although we know better) was walking about the middle of the park like he was at a picnic. We sha won that game without your contribution…

Argentina vs Nigeria. The BIG day! The game we qualified for the World Cup to play! On one hand, we had the MVP of the 2005 U-20 World Cup Leo Messi and on the other we had the MVP runner-up in the same competition, Mikel Obi. It was expected that both ‘stars’ would renew their rivalry and influence the game for both their sides…We all saw how the story played out… Messi was in supreme form, scoring two sweet goals while Mikel Obi turned in another anonymous, god-awful performance that must have had Jose Mourinho frantically working the phones to managers of lower-league sides, trying to sell his professional bench-warmer to any club dumb enough to take a gamble on him.

Three games, no Mikel Obi… Unlike 2005 where he and Taiye Taiwo (who was 3rd most valuable player) were old men bullying their juniors and forming stars, Mikel was competing in a tournament of his mates and was brutally exposed as a lazy player whose style of play was a big minus to his team. Remember that Messi is supposed to be your ‘mate’ o, but in terms of achievements he has completely dwarfed the hell out of you since your breakout tournament in 2005.

If you were better than Mikel should n't you be one of our representatives in the world cup?
What stopped you from representing Naija if you are good? You may argue not being a footballer, but how succesful, popular and prominent are you in your field of profession? We have heard of popular and succesful lawyers, doctor, engineers, businessmen, teachers, sportsmen, politicians, tailors, musicians, actors/actress....waht is your field of profession? I am certain you are not halve as succesful as John Mikel Obi. If Mikel is a failure, then you are simply a failure specialist. You are a fool, nonetity, batsard, idiot for opening this thread. If you are mentally sound you wouldn't start this kind of thread against a compatriot. As worse as Mikel in the tournament, he still won MAN OF THE MATCH in one game (naija vs iran). 23 players from Nigeria went for the tournament, how many of them achieved that feat?

What is even wrong in having a bad tournament? Is there any player who pray to have a bad tounament? Many world class players failed woefully
in this world cup and none was crucified by thier country fellow.....Leave Mikel alone or God would punish you and your generation.

Diego Coasta, C. Ronaldo, Xavi, Samuel Eto, Cavani and so many others had a bad tounament and none earthquake occured for that. What about Yaya Toure, I guess he had a very good tournamnet.

Mikel Obi was phenomenal in the AFCON and CONFED but all the positives about him, I guess were written on waters, hence forgotten.

Finally, to other nicompoop who would not let Mikel be, the assignment for you is to mention any memeber of your family/generation who is as succesful as JOHN MIKEL OBI or you forever remain silent.

He was so incompetent he had to use his hand to deflect a shot heading to the goal post. That incompetent dude cost us all the match.

mki: Mikel has done enough for his country, Nigeria already. What have you ever done for your country? It's not enough to sit in your house and type rubbish. Lace your boots and take his place.

Is he doing it free of charge? He is actually being paid, so we need the justification of the pay he gets. He is not doing a charity work to Nigeria, he should work for what he earns. Shikina.

Then those Super Eagle players that do not play with Chelsea/Mourinho should have risen to the ocassion to rescue the team.

So just kip ur mouth shut cos we paid 2 watch him.....directly/indirectly. So we r justified in criticising. And to those whom u said they should name someone beta dan mikel. WE ARENT PAYING TO WATCH DEM OR DIA ENTERTAINMENT,SO WE DONT GIV A F**K DUDE ABT DEM.

@JODEER na thunder go fire you. He no try at all yet he was man of the match in a one of the games he played. Those wey try well well no even smell man of the match.
