EPISODE TWO. HASTRUP walked into the house briskly with Uthman. He had been lamenting since they left the custody of the soldiers. "How many times do you want me to tell you I don't know those ladies? See how I was beaten up." Uthman hissed and sat angrily. "How come you won't know them? They lied against you? Why didn't they point at me or Hakeem?" Hatrup questioned angrily and dropped his car key on the table. "This Issue is still strange to me, I honestly don't know them." He sat down sadly. "And, what of Hakeem?" He asked. "As we were about to leave, Aishat called him. I don't know what happened." Hastrup replied. "This guy and his Aishat! I pray that girl won't send him to his early grave." Uthman vociferated and walked out of the living room. ***** HAKEEM became self conscious as he saw her sparkling face and adjusted himself. He wasn't himself any longer because Aishat was already getting angry. "Where are you going to?" He asked Azeezat so she wouldn't suspect his change in countenance. Though, it wasn't ideal for a muslim lady to hug a guy anyhow but to Azeezat, Hakeem was different. "I came with a friend to eat here, what of you?" Azeezat asked. "Sure, I came here for same thing. Please, I have to leave." He smiled as he took a step forward. "Wait." Azeezat pulled him and enquired of his mobile number. She also bowed and greeted Aishat before she walked away but Aishat gave her a bad look. Hakeem walked briskly up to Aishat as he dipped his mobile phone into the pocket of his kaftan. "Aishat, she's just..." "Give me my car key!" She exclaimed and stretched her hand forward to receive the key. "No, she was a mate in secondary..." he couldn't finish the sentence before Aishat dipped her hand into his pocket and brought out the key. "Wait." Hakeem rushed after her but she didnt wait. She unlocked the driver's door and hopped into the car. She locked up the door again and drove away, leaving him at the same spot. ****** Hakeem entered into the house looking so tired. He parked his car in Aishat's compound and when he got there, she didn't open the gate for him. Tomisin had also gone out, so there was no one who could help him out. "When did you arrive?" He asked Uthman as he sat down heavily. "Don't ask me oh! You left me there, now you're asking me." He hissed. "Sorry now, Aishat called me and wait, I'm I even the one who instructed you to behave badly?" He chuckled. "Where's your car?" Hastrup asked. "She seized it." He replied, hissing dryly. "Seized what? And you could leave there to tell us here that a lady seized your car?" Hastrup was infuriated. "So what? She's my love and she has the right to do anything to and with me." He stood up. He knew his friends would criticize him instantly. None of them liked Aishat because of her aggressive manners and the way she did treat Hakeem. "Just take it easy like I usually tell you, you know you're an asthmatic patient, I keep telling you!" Uthman said. But, since they've been dating, Hakeem had never for once supported his friends, he'd keep saying she loved him. +++******+++ -Sunday.- ALHAJI was sitting in the living room as his son, Hakeem walked in. He prostrated and picked up the newspaper on the centre table before taking his seat. He was about asking after his mother and Halimat- his sister when they both walked out smiling. "Brother!" Halimat rushed to him and greeted him. He also greeted his mother and dropped the newspaper he was holding. "You called me, Dad." He said to his father as he glimpsed at Halimat. "Yes, I called you to know what you are doing against your singleness. Don't you think its high time you got married?" He adjusted his reading glasses as he faced Hakeem properly. "Dad, I have someone.." he grinned as he drawled the sentence. "Aishat right?" His mother cut in. He dimmed his face, he surprised at how his mother got to know who Aishat was. At the same time, he glimpsed at Halimat and Alhaji simultaneously. "Yes now." Halimat grinned. "How did you get to know her?" He asked his mum beaming. "I told them about her." Halimat cut in. How did she get to know her? I didn't tell her about Aishat now.. He wondered. "Is that the girl you wish to marry or you are just joking?" Alhaji asked him. He smiled and was downcast. "Yes." He replied shyly. "It's a no from me. I've heard a lot about her, a girl you beg to love you? A girl that treats you like a maid? I reapeat, no." Alhaji stood and walked in. ++++***++++ "Aishat." Tomisin called as she stepped out of the kitchen. "What is it again?" She dropped the remote control she was holding. "Why on earth haven't you released Hakeem's car?" She sat beside her. "Please Tomi, I hope this is not a path to start abusing or questioning me again." She glimpsed at her and faced the television set. "This is not a matter of questioning or abusing you, why on earth did you behave that way? You said he hugged a lady before you, what is the big deal? You know Tofunmi, you can't date someone like him." She picked up pineapple from the plate she was carrying. "See, that's you and Tofunmi. See, this is Hakeem and I so please don't interfere." "But wait, do you know you can never meet any other guy as gentle as this guy? If not, how may guys do you think will agree with you to carry your bags, open the door, call you everytime and other stuffs like that? This guy has been good and gentle, I pray you're not going to loose him with this your aggressive manners." She hissed. "You know what I hate most is hearing that word 'aggressive.'" She hissed too and walked inside the house angrily. ******* Hastrup came down from his car together with his own lady- Aminat. He smiled as he glimpsed at her. "Is this place?" He asked. "Sure." Aminat also smiled and walked to him slowly. Hastrup was a young and tall guy, not really handsome but had a good stature and dress sense. He had been in relationship with Aminat since his 400 level in the university. His father had be bothering him likewise over the issue of marriage so he decided to start his preparation soonest. He had informed Aminat that he'd come with her to her parents' house just for brief introduction as her friend. Both walked in holding hands until they got to the front of the main door and seperated. Aminat knocked at the door and glimpsed at Hastrup smiling before her younger brother came to get the door. She walked in with Hastrup. She told him to sit down and walked in to get her parents to the living room. Some minutes after, she came out again smiling and sat beside Hastrup. "They are coming." She said. "Alright." He smiled and gazed at the wall clock that was tickling softly. Not later than then, Aminat's parents walked out with smiles on their faces. Hastrup behaved gently as he greeted them and sat down again, just smiling. "What's your name?" Aminat's father asked him as he sat. "I'm Bello Hastrup." He replied confidently, he was sure the name would ring a bell. "Bello? Is that not Alhaji T. Bello?" The man asked. "Yes sir." He grinned, happy he was known. "What? Will you stand now and leave my house?!" The man stood and roared angrily. Hastrup's eyes popped open so wide as he stood instantly and looked surprised. ******* Hakeem walked into Aishat's compound and sighted his car. It was still at the exact place where he parked before taking Aishat out with her car, the previous day. It was Tomisin that came to get the door and she had been smiling to keep him lively because she knew Aishat would definitely destroy the mood very soon. He walked into the living room and tried to force a smile as he sighted Aishat. His mood had already been ruined by his family, he was still wondering who could have told his sister about Aishat that made his father walk out on him. He remembered the scene again and tried to get himself together as he got before Aishat. "How are you?" He smiled and sat down on the stool by her front. Aishat hissed and sipped the wine she had in the wine glass cup she was holding with her right hand. "Aishat now, why are you like this? What have I done wrong now?" He tried to be soft even though he wasn't happy. "Go back to that lady you hugged yesterday." She took another sip of wine. "For God's sake I didn't hug her, she hugged me... It's been long I saw Azeezat and I had to endure her behaviour. Should I call this jealousy?" He grinned. "Who's jealous? What am I jealous about?" She clapped her hands together mockingly. "Anyways, I'm sorry." He smiled. This guy! What should I even call him? Is he dense or just in love? Tomisin thought as she stared at him from her seat. "Hakeem please leave me alone, you're really annoying, you've never for once treated me well." "Alright, I'm sorry but where's my car key?" He smiled. "So you want to start leaving? Have I told you I have forgiven you?" She looked more serious. "You just like fighting over minute things." Hakeem hissed. "How dare you?" She hit the glass cup she held on his head, Hakeem started bleeding. ******* 2 Likes 1 Share |
