* Chief John Odigie Oyegun,
Tinubu, Oshiomhole, Oyinlola, others urge Osun electorate not to vote for prisoner as governor

* PDP mocks mega rally, says it’s a colossal failure

* DSS: We will not be involved in politicking

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Party (APC), Chief John Odigie Oyegun, yesterday in Osogbo Osun State, promised that the party will set up a parallel government if the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) attempts to steal peoples’ mandate during the 2015 presidential election.

Speaking at the final governorship election rally at the state stadium, Oyegun also warned that any move by the PDP to tamper with a single vote will mean that battle line would be appropriately drawn.

According to him, “Nigerians as well as the APC would no longer accept any stolen mandate as people of this great county wants a change in the political dimension in this country.”

Oyegun stated further that Nigerians and the people would no longer be intimidated with the recent deployment of personnel of the Directorate of State Security (DSS) and the military in the nation’s body politics.

The national chairman posited that PDP had started intimidating the people of the state, stating that Governor Rauf Aregbesola must continue with his good work for the good people of the state because “I have seen that
Aregbesola is loved by the people of the state.”

Oyegun therefore warned that the PDP should not make any mistake by causing chaos in the country, saying: “love and orderliness will assist us to develop as a nation and for our respective states as well.”

Also speaking at the event, former Governors of Lagos and Osun States, Bola Tinubu, Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Isiaka Adeleke and Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, jointly urged voters in the state not to vote for criminals as well as prisoners that would not bring any meaningful development to the state.

However, the former National Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, noted that President Goodluck Jonathan has no leadership qualities that he can use to manage the affairs of the country.

He also remarked that the president has not done anything in the state, saying all efforts would be taken to ensure that PDP did not destabilise the country as well as the state.

Also at the rally, Oyinlola was formally presented with the flag of the APC by Oyegun, where he (Oyinlola) pledged his loyalty and said the people of the state should not vote for selfish person who will not carry them along in the process of governance.

He noted that the PDP candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has no tangible plan for the state, saying he was onl=y looking for his own interest and that of his friends in the party.

Present at the rally were the governors of Ogun, Oyo Edo, Ekiti, Kwara and Imo States, as well as stakeholders in the party.

But the PDP, while commenting on the mega rally held in Osogbo by the APC, described it as a “colossal failure and a jamboree of rented crowd.”

The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, in a statement yesterday, said the rally was “full of hollow and meaningless speeches, symptomatic of a sinking party desperate for survival.

“Nigerians are aware that at the rally was a crowd mobilised from other states to join APC officials who were forced to relocate to Osun State to create an impression of massive support for the party and its candidate.

“However, we invite the APC to note that it is only the people of the state and not their hired crowd and horde of entertainers that will vote on Saturday.”

Noting that a big humiliation awaits the APC, the PDP lampooned the leaders of the opposition party who experienced a foretaste of the bitter fate ahead, when the indigenes of the state booed and jeered at them, calling their party “one-chance bus” as they arrived the state with their rented supporters.

The party once again thanked the people of the state for the support and solidarity shown its candidate, Omisore, while urging them to remain vigilant ahead of the Saturday’s governorship election.

dozzzybaba: The same way Theodore Orji won the election in your state without rigging. So much so, Abia state is now a cesspit. Funny enough, you fools will still vote PDP again in Abia despite how terrible and horrible the PDP government of T.A Orji has been

I detest being insulted. Please take note.
Also, stay on topic. We are not discussing Abia politics now.

What a shameful statement by Apc leaders. They don't have any power nor mandate to form any illegal govt whether Jonathan rigs or not. The law must take its course. It is only the court that has the final say. Except there's a public uprising.

Btw: What is oyinlola saying? He's part of the mess in Osun state(and Lagos)

barcanista: What a shameful

Bro, i'll check my PM and respond today. On holiday at the moment and in lazy mode.

@Post
About time. Clearly Nigeria is not working and will remain on skid row while we have the likes of GEJ in charge. The supporters of GEJ are very clannish but not intelligent at all. They shout 'achievement's while even a bright child, with an analytical mind, will know that GEJ has taken Nigeria backwards in relation to the specific perennial and major problems that have kept and will continue to keep Nigeria horribly underdeveloped.

Politicians, the ones who still mean well for Nigeria, should stop talking and begin acting. They should shun self-servitude and lead the people, at least those who want it, to agitate for changes the regressive FG-led centre has always rejected such as true fiscal federalism and/or regional governance. Let everyone go back to their region and develop it commensurate to their readiness for hard work and insular devotion to a better life for people they are affiliated with.

Bro, you will find that Oyegun's utterance may mean anything and certainly not what you are thinking. A parallel government , since the APC would not have the executive mandate to control finance and forces of Nigeria, would have to rely on the people. It would most likely be a people-led agitation to force the ruling and legitimate government to make concessions and/or step-down totally. We have seen it elsewhere , in Nations far better off than Nigeria, so let us stop deceiving ourselves in Nigeria, where everything has broken down and our nation is almost failed, with this talk of "law take it course".They have rigged before and gone to court to 'win'. They thus legitimise their actions using our 'cash and carry' judiciary. Such can always happen because the Nigerian judiciary, one of the most corrupt in the world, can always let Nigerians down if the price is right.

We cannot trust the judiciary. It is as simple as that. Where the future and continued survival of the "biggest black nation on earth" depends on it then the political leaders who mean well for Nigeria will just have to put it all on the line, if they are willing to, and gain the concession/changes needed or we all continue to 419 each other in a nation where lack of strong and independent institutions means the ruling government can more or less control the armed forces, judiciary and virtually all important institutions partisanly.

A free and fair election is the right of Nigerians. Like I've always stated earlier any proven evidence of rigging next year shall surely lead to civil war. The reason is the proliferation of social media. It is just a matter of posting videos of people rigging election or soldiers assisting a particular party and the nation goes boom.

APC has again proven that they are bad losers, they are already anticipating defect, why don't they try to win the election instead of planing to cause mayhem when defected, its a shame that the leadership of the party would come out and make such statement, this goes all long way to show the characters and composition of the APC, a bunch of power hunger individuals its obvious that their agenda is definitely not in the interest of Nigeria

Making such statements is just as bad as anything else in a civil setting. Nigeria is so "multi-tribal", the people won't go to the street on behalf of politicianns because they see all as one and d same. Our best bet is @ the poll, the APC should preach guarding of votes and insist on credible election observers rather than such statement. I am confident that APC will win if it fields the right person. PDP has no business in Aso Rock

Barcanista, at times in an attempt to balance your comments, you misjudged issues and play to the gallery. How do you expect APC to guard their votes with bare hands, and as well they shouldn't protest if the elections were rigged? In the eventuality they got killed, in trying to guard their votes, you lots would still come here and blame APC for cajoling their supporters to resort to violence, when they can always go to court. While do you guys celebrate PDP's brutality and illegal means of achieving political goals and frown at APC attempt to deter them with mere statement of consequence? Had Al-makura of Nassarawa rolled over for them, without fighting dirty, and I am certain you would have called it democracy in action as you did in the case of Adamawa State? Do you think the Journey to Aso Rock is akin to booking a stress free flight to Abuja? Henceforth, I urge you to remain a loyal party member as you have chosen, and allow the Party Think Tank navigate the ship safely to Aso Rock! Thank you!
