Exactly my thoughts. But my major concern is whether the US through the WHO will not manipulate our government and Min. of Health and blacklist the drug even when they know it works. They did same to Abalaka when he came up with the AIDS Vaccine so i see them doing the same to Benjamin Amodu.

milehigh06: seems a lot of people just do not get it...you are an independent nation,if USA had given you ZMAP,would any scientist in Nigeria be busy trying to work on a curenoooooooo they said no which led to Nigeria looking inward.....kudos for that but to start calling USA names for what any responsible nation would do is dumb-founding...if una like, when this turns out to be good, dash am to every one and not help your own citizens
It's called blessing in disguise. They deny us the drugs because they want us to look inward

I hope and wish this drug is certified a drug that can cure Ebola so that USA can crawl and beg us.

Its funny how people here think a country that has put a man on the moon, has nuclear technologies is jealous of a country that doesn't even have portable water.

Ebola just like sickle cell anemia is a disease that affects Africans majorly and Africans should be at the fore front of the research and not the whites.

The University of Jos, has received an Eight Million Dollar ($8 Million) grant from the World Bank to establish an African Centre of Excellence on Phytomedicine Research and Development (ACEPRD). The centre is strongly committed to excellence in research on the production of modern drugs from plants. Research will be focused on different African leaves, roots and plants so as to extract their medicinal contents for the use of human beings. The Centre is a collaborative effort of researchers in the faculties of Pharmaceutical and Natural Sciences with an excellent track record in this area of research and development. Members of ACEPRD’s impressive track record for research in this area has led to the production of several drugs for use in Nigeria including - anti-hypertension, anti-diabetes, anti-malaria drugs and anti snake venom.

Professor John C Aguiyi ( Centre Director) works along with Professor J.C Okwuasaba as Deputy Centre Director and a number of unit Heads in the following core areas of research:

Biological Evaluation
Phytochemistry
Plant Science
Biotechnology
Formulation and Production
Clinical trials, commercialisation, and regulatory
Education and Social Sciences

A pharmaceutical research centre in Abuja, Ben Amodu Firms and Research Center, Saturday said it has submitted drug samples to the Federal Government that have the efficacy to tackle Ebola virus.

The Chairman of the Centre, Pharmacist Ben Amodu, said the centre had produced drugs for the treatment of haemorrhagic fevers, which could also be used for Ebola virus.

He said the drugs have been submitted to the committee set up by the minister of health recently on Ebola adding that

“We gave the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and World Health Organization (WHO) samples of the drugs but the WHO later phoned and said they were not supposed to verify Ebola drugs. I gave samples to the committee set by the Minister of Health on Ebola virus and I hope that due process will be followed in

He said the Centre was into research of neglected tropical diseases, adding that the drugs

He said, “We got the drugs that cure Leishmaniasis and they have been previewed. We invented a drug, DAABS 2 which also cures Dangue fever which is viral Hemorrhagic fever and as you know Ebola is also a viral Hemorrhagic fever. Their symptoms include fever, intense weakness of the body system, vomiting, diarrhea, headache and internal and external bleeding. If you remove the bleeding aspect the disease becomes typhoid and

"The International Organisation for Scientific Research based in US, Japan and India have also previewed us for the management of hepatitis A,B,C,D,E and F, of which we have treated so many people. We have a drug that stops bleeding, including those from cervical cancer and uncontrolled menstrual flow. Our drug called SAABMAL was tested by the World Health Organization to have 97 per cent effectiveness in all forms of fever symptoms, including

"Another drug, TAABS 2 also has effects on fever while SAAB 6 has very strong Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties as confirmed by National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD). Also one other drug SAAB is a very good immune booster"

@ bolded statement, Is this guy a pharmacist or a comedian? I am assuming of course that he is a sane human.

I mean how can educated people talk this way?

You're just realising the people who sat down beside you, who refused to ever study or read but complained of lecturers setting "tough" exams, would turn out to be stupid? grin Welcome to Nigeria, bro, take a seat.

"Ultimate Gay CIA Mission" or "Operation America wants To Destroy A Nation No-one Really Cares About" people are going to be praising the Lord all over this thread and congratulating themselves.

I hope Ben Amodu gets a facility and funding to test this drug (first on lab-rats and primates, then human testing). It would be great news if it passes all trials. But I'm not crazy about NAFDAC, he could use another international body. The research hospital in Kenya must have good affliations. Start there.

If your house is on fire, and I manufacture a fire extinguisher that can put out the fire with extra cost, if someone else comes with water solution to the fire, won't my greed make shout that the water is a bad idea?

Of course America is jealous of us, even their slums have 24-hour light while our highbrow Ikoyi and Maitama areas just achieved 21 hours of light this year. Why won't they be jealous that our schools produce so poor graduates they must be retrained before being hired? Americans are jealous of our good values, the one which allows us to revere political looters who don't bother to hide their stealing while fighting NMA and ASUU for demanding for better services for our children and loved ones?

Those Americans. Always jealousing people whose economy is dependent on massive imports of everything including paper and toothpick and foreign investors buying up companies. grin

Anyhoo, nano technology in which its products are mostly electrons Is different from nano silver a drug for bacteria/viruses etc although all under same Nano tech, do more research on that.

By the way, I didn't say Nigerian invented Nano silver, read and comprehend.

The western world hates you and they give you millions of dollars in grant every year, right?

They hate you and practically feed Africa right?

If the west wanted to get rid of Africa two nuclear war heads would have done the magic!

Guy open ur eyes ... those grants and loans by the IMF and the likes are meant to enrich the western capitalist economy.
How many of those grants go into our locak industries.
Most of their grants are channelled into solid infrastractures like railways system, healthcare, energy etc of which they still bring the western companies to come and execute these projects. We are only left with loans to service.

They should take there grants and shove it up their a.ss

Every country has his own office where they can say yes to a drug or now.

We have it in my country and some drugs which I can buy free in germany in a pharmacy in my country I have to go to the doctor that he write me a prescription that I can get it from the pharmacy.

so every country has their own standart and that is good. In America you can buy many drugs in shops but in my country drugs you can buy only in pharmacies because only this people know how you have to take it.

We have also many local herbs we use because they help also and sometimes better than drugs and you will get this also in the pharmacy.

America is a very loyal market for drugs not like we are here in Europa.
