This is a clear loss of identity, one of the many implications of too many Hollywood movies. Nigerians are fast shedding their identity/culture & adopting the foreign alien ones they see in movies. Did the father of this guy propose to his mother like this? I see 3 possible reasons here 1 - The girl is one in a million (Nigerian chics are usually not worth the time of day, so this one must be pretty special) 2 - The guy is a fool 3 - The girl has a voodoo/black magic grip on him.
