God blessu jasper for ur selflessness. I hv sm acres of land at Ogun state and I intend to start farming on it this year. I know u said u cannot say wot the cost implication will be cos of diffeeence in areas n people. Wot I want is an estimate of wot u spent wen preparing ur land till u harvested. Just so I can make an informes decision and compare cost with wot I already found out here at ogun state. Thanks

how many acres do u have? From going through this thread, my rough estimate is about 200k per Acre. There is no way to say how much it will cost. But you can work with that number in mind.

It's okay... If you can answer the following questions I think i can give you a rough estimate. Is there water in the land? is it a farmland or a virgin land? Do you have an estimate for the cost of labour in the area?

maybe, or insufficient water. try to increase quantity of water, especially from this stage. and check if there's a difference. @House. I hope we are learning?

Dear Jasper, I am so proud of what you are doing. You are an inspiration. I will make my contributions too. I was a cucumber grower too in the past. I stopped because of staff challenges. I will be restarting again, this time I will be doing cucumber and water melon. At my first trial, I did Drip irrigation, like you experienced, it was very challenging because staff just won't make it work. I had drip tapes for 5 hectares. Here are pictures of my nursery using cocopeat. What you have on the picture are 5 day old nursery.

To be honest, I didn't. I was frustrated by staff ineptitude. I have since addressed the issues. I currently do fishery and piggery, I will be using the waste water from the fish ponds and the pig manure for the cucumber cultivation. I was on a short training at Songhai too. I saw the marvels. I use DC solar pump to get water on the farm, that addresses my water needs.

I guess the cause of slow growth is the hamatharn, cos it retarded the growth of plant, in fact if care is not taken most seeds during hamatharn will not germinate.

Pls how/where did you get the stuff you are using for your nursery (i.e. where you panted your seeds)? Also what is it called? Thanks

very very true... the the relative humidity is low during harmattan season. that's why we encourage the use of mulching film.

That's the price. The retailer has to add transportation costs and her own mark up. Sometimes, It takes them time to dispose their stock, some of the cucumber will rot

let me just cut in here. just as lagbaja said, 3k is okay for feedback. but if 100 cucumber fills up a bag, then it must be a very small specie. A bigger specie will be at most 60 a bag
