My brother/sister, don't always be in a hurry to post a comment. Understanding is key. The poster you responded to is only making a general comparison between those days and today. He/She is not saying that Lagos should provide those with its meagre allocation. Of a truth Mr President was on point. His generation has failed you and I. And that generation includes Fashola, Buhari, GEJ et al. What they enjoyed in their days has eluded us today. In all your getting, get understanding. Thank you.

OLUJOSHINS:

So all this should be provided by the state government with its little allocation?

Just before Fashola becomes boastful about his records he should take a drive around Lagos

Lagos is not yet New York

While we still have poor people who can not afford to eat 3 square meals, while we still have people in Ikeja who can not afford to eat at any joint in VI then we must be level headed about our records. There is still a lot of work to be done!
so fashola should shook breast inside their mouth cos they are hungry? I'm happy you said there is still a lot of work to be done. But you will also agree wiv me tht fashola has done a lot too. He is obviously leaving lagos bettr thn he met it. Wish I could say same for Jona

The poor will always remain in your midst. He has done very well in the past 8yrs, for Lagos to get to New york level......it will take more than 8yrs to fix

Lol. That's funny.

But why was he hanging on those words unnecessarily? We all know the president said that out of modesty since he was addressing youths. It's not uncommon for people to say our future depends on the youths nor for them to suggest that the youths will do much better.

Pro Fasholas, is he the only governor from APC? So who and who constitute his own generation which has not failed? We seem to be settled with the little we're giving.

Nigerian politics is childish; goes to show how behind Africa is.

I don't know y Nigerians don't have respect for their leaders. And yet we want to be leaders someday. For God's sake Goodluck can not please everyone, no one can, but that doesn't mean that we should abuse them.
People here abuse their leaders and yet they want to lead other people. It baffles me.

I wonder what he 'Fashola' learnt from the talk where politicians were advised against taking swipe at themselves. Next minute, he's in a town hall meeting throwing tantrums at GEJ. So what did he learn there, because I clearly saw him sitting in front.

Too bad, our politicians will never learn!

Educate them my guy. You are so objective and so on point in your submission - people live a lot in denial. I have noticed that lack of understanding is majorly a key factor. Some people hurriedly post comments here mostly based on their parochial and primordial sentiments and without proper understanding of the fact of the matter. Some too post theirs because they want to make front page - no understanding. Once again, thank you for a well articulated post. I wish many others can learn. Kudos.

NB : You will see that people who are guilty of what I have said will respond negatively as usual. Watch out!

U tell me?

Is everyone in Lagos employed?
Are all the state roads in Lagos ok?
Are there no homeless people in Lagos?
Are there no thieves, pick pockets and armed robbers in Lagos?

The definition of success and failure here is somewhat subjective. For every example of failure you can direct at Jonathan, you can also make the same accusation to Fashola.

Lagos is not New York, it's not some el dorado, it is still a state within Nigeria faced with the same challenges as everyone else.

So when the President challenges the next generation to rise up and own their destiny because his generation has failed, it should be seen as a call to action and not an object of politics. It should not form the basis to insult the President.

Lagos is not New York or London and will not catch up with any of these cities in the next 20years by which time Fashola and Tinubu will be nearing if not already in retirement!

So there is nothing wrong in the President saying his generation has failed and this generation includes Fashola and Tinubu!

They say the number one step to solving your problem is recognising that we have a problem. Fashola and Tinubu seems to want to live in denial!

The failure of GEJm is a clear picture of lack of common sense. With all the knowledge of Practical, theory differences. With all d knowledge of the bible saying a man must head his home. With all the knowledge of love your Neigbor the way you love your self. GEJm.has never applied common sense in applying these basic principles to government. Instead, he
1. Listened to his illiterate wife
2. Listened to NOI who has incomplete brain. We still need to verify her certificate. How can someone apply what she reads in American book to Nigeria economy. Abeg is nigeria, America? She must be jailed for stupidity.
3. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, instead, GEJ who is not the holder of mrs petrol has found beauty in her. She has deceived him in daylight and maybe night sef. Not sure if he even saw her levels. Look but don't touch. (Mugu)
In her pretense and self centered attitude, has milked all d subsidy, upto the level that private jet is now her baby's toy. Well, when the chips are down, I hope we will find her in the country to explain many untold stories in Krikri
GEJ blaming min of info. For not telling the truth about the feelings of Nigerians. A big shame.
All these guys should be prohibited from leaving the country until cleared by the incoming govt. their passport seized. because all we going to hear is that they are all going for medical checkup.

What reasonable development took place under 6yrs of jonathan's retrogressive rule? The nigeria of 6yrs ago is far better than we have it today. Can you compare the price of fuel, rate of dollar, level of security, corruption and infrastructural development pace of both periods and not vomit? Fashola has opened our eyes that lagos can be great by taking a giant stride without blaming past lagos state governors unlike GEJ who believes he inherited nigeria's problems from past leaders so nobody should blame him. What was he thinking before he took the job? grin Was it not for him to come and solve the problem? This is someone in your own generation telling u, that in know way has he or the generation that he belongs tp failed. Rather Its GEJ who has failed himself and the nation.
One would expect that as a responsible leader he for once takes responsibility.
The mantle of power was accorded to you s however you wheel is totally up to you, whether you decide to walk in the path of impunity or graciously its entirely up to you.
The bottom line is that you must give account of your stewardship.
Which at the point isn't something to write home about.

I have followed GEJ closely since this campaign period and realized the man reeks of nothing but incompetence and lies. I've never seen a leader who continously puts blames on others for a job he failed woefully at. It's high time we stopped letting sentiments becloud our judgements. It seems many of you are blinded towards Fashola, this is the main man that makes most Nigerians realised that if you vote for a competent candidate you can have a better government. This is election time that's why Fashola is blowing his trumpet.
