The question is:
Can cheating be considered as a mistake ?
Cheating contextual usage = Verb
Mistake: contextual usage = Noun.
Basic rule for English grammar you cannot substitute the meaning of a word as a verb for its meaning as a noun.

I.e Barge(noun), Barge(verb).

barge - /bärj/
(noun)
1. a flat-bottomed boat
for carrying freight,
typically on canals and
rivers, either under its
own power or towed by
another.
(Verb)
1. move forcefully or
roughly.
2. convey (freight) by
barge.

His definition is the correct version.
Noun for noun,
verb for verb, etc.

His question is still unanswered.
His question has been answered.

Yess it does..

It's called remorse.

And why pick such an extreme? I fail to see the correlation.
Do you get punished even when you show remorse? Is punishment supposed to be an act of wickedness or as a way of making you know what you did was wrong and would not be accepted by society?

In general I agree that if a person does not feel trapped in a relationship, then cheating is a sign of deeper psychological issues and that person is likely to cheat again in the future unless she or he goes through some kind of counseling, But I definitely do not agree that in all cases, "Once a cheater, always a cheater." I do not agree!

"A cheat will always be a cheat"

I hear this saying making rounds on social media but I think it is false. Nobody is born a cheat. A person becomes a cheat when he/she is placed under certain circumstances.

A faithful husband that has been denied sex for long periods of time is more likely to cheat than if he has sex regularly. A girlfriend who is denied love and attention constantly by her lover is more likely to cheat with him over someone else. This would have been different if her boyfriend was more loving and attentive. A poor guy that shows his love, support and attention to his girl is more likely to have a loyal babe than a rich guy who hardly shows his girlfriend any attention.

Saying a cheat will always be a cheat leaves the relationship open to do whatever you like, thinking that your partner will always be faithful no matter what. It also prevents you from forgiving your partner even if he/ she makes a mistake because you think once they have started cheating they will continue cheating all their lives no matter what. That assumption is baseless.

Of course there are exceptions to the rule but should we use the stubborn few to punish the vast majority?

Please dont even go there. You put in the OP that "cheating" is a mistake.

That is what I called you out for. And you have not answered my question which you promised to answer and whatever other question I have for your answer.

Can you steal a piece of meat from the pot by mistake?

Punishment does not change the fact that the offender may have repented.... most of the time, they only serve as a deterrent to others....

Good.

So if punishment can also serve as a detergent to others, it means it can be avoided when you remember the punishment.

So how is it a mistake?
