Trash this bro, you don't and can't negotiate with a terrorist. Secondly, Buhari comparing book haram with Niger delta militants shows that he does not understand the security challenges posed by this insurgent and as such will surely do a poor job handling them.his comment was highly irresponsible coming from an elder stateman like him. I'm not sure he can deal with boko haram the way he boast about solving it.

Finally, president Jonas comment about that was unfortunate, but I think he didn't convey his message properly and that is why it sounded distorted and out of place.

We negotiated with MEND.. THEY ARE A TERRORIST ORGANIZATION. According to our president, they even tried to assasinate him on Oct. 1st.

MEND Fought the Federal government for control of Oil resources..
BOKO HARAM are fighting the FG for control of their region and the setting up of a Caliphate.

If we negotiated with MEND that killed thousands of Niger Deltans and kidnapped hundreds more, crippled oil installations and sabotaged oil pipelines, attempted to kill the President on Nigerias independence, why then cant we negotiate with Boko Haram. grin

CNN is all about sensationalism no deep thinking or research at all. Anything that can sell(usaully) is okay with CNN.
Don't be surprised that those two soldiers were actors hired by CNN to perform for them.

Does that look to you like something that was politically motivated?

Goodluck Jonathan has proven to be weak and useless against corruption and insecurity. It would be extremely stupiid of us as a nation yo return this man to office for another 4 years.

I don't believe Buhari is our messiah, but he is a change in tactics and methodology. If after four years he also fails to deliver, we will keep switching up until we find the right fit.

Down with Goodluck Jonathan..
Buhari already had his 2 years some 30 years ago and he failed woefully.

Over one trillion in defence budget in the last 4years. Where is this money bike? The governor of Bornu State complained one time that our military can't match BK and people shouted him to shut up. We have seen or soldiers fled to Cameroon and Niger. That's the result of corruption. It a pity people here are still defending this govt reasons best known to them.

No one is defending anyone. Cut through the clutter and go for facts. For example the military has a medical corps and some of the best equiped hospitals in the country and some of the best specialists working there. And they donot have industrial unrests. As for personal kits the army at least provides a standard set but a serving soldier can pay to have additional ones made for him which the military is always wary about due to misuse and abuse. Yes they keep kit circulation tight. These are facts.

Islamic extremists have presents themselves to be a great treat to peace all over the world and timely and plain reports of their activities is used to track them and predict their possible next move.

Nigeria however, failed to stop them and also failed to give credible reports of their actions. though never owe CNN any reports but. they owe her citizens but failed to give unbiased report.

I am opportuned to meet a. friend of mine while is in the NA that narrated a moment in the battlefield with the bh when neither sides makes no advancement, he said the soldiers with their very own eyes saw a NA helicopter delivered harmo to the bh which had them withdrew from forefront and countless other similar but different occasions.

I knew something deadly is happening from my own perspective though, when soldiers run away! to neighboring country from battlefield plus those several occurrence of mutiny.

Nigeria government is hiding something

I stand to be corrected

I hate responding to your quotes because they are completely idiotic most of the times. But if we were to put premium on this post, one would first ask:

Did Buhari say they shouldn't be killed "because they are muslims" as you said?? The answer is "NO". He admonished negotiation just as was done with the ND terrorists.

Secondly, what do you have to say about the president who said he can't kill or send the army to wipe out the terrorists because "they are his siblings and family members"??

Do you now see how idiotic your post is
What are you saying? When have you seen or heard Buhari since his ouster in 1985 discuss issues beneficial to the whole country if not the ones relating to his muslim and northern brothers? Did Buhari ever commented when MEND who had genuine cause for agitation were being hounded by the federal govt? I will repeat that Buhari is highly sectional and a religious bigot not fit for national leadership. I hope you know how his fanatical and violent utterances have influenced the surge in the activities of the boko haram sect? Have you forgotten how his unpalatable utterances after his election loss in 2011 led to violence and deaths in the north? I know you still rely on his flash in a pan achievement during the military regime, but I tell you, time has revealed the true personality of Buhari. You need to see beyond your nose, dear.

February 14 election is not an election between GEJ and GMB but is an election between GEJ vs all the millions of unemployed graduates and youths, is an election between GEJ vs all those innocent graduates that were murdered during the last immigration exam, is an election between GEJ and all the relatives of the kidnap chibok girls, is an election between GEJ and all the victims of Iyanya, Kano and other bomb blast, is an election between GEJ vs all the failed small business that has been short down due to shortage of power supply, is an election between GEJ and all those who lost their love ones during health workers strike, is also an election between GEJ and all those university undergraduates who has spent more than their stipulated years in school due to strikes and hike in fees. Finally is an election between GEJ and the general masses who are suffering from the clueless decisions of this government.

As for me am supporting and voting for BUHARI because I can't support a president who fraudulently extort money from young graduates all in d name of giving them jobs only to end up killing lots of them. And this is a government that has not in any way imparted positively in the lives of our youths, rather they steal in billions of dollars from the common man.

People don't even see the bigger picture.

Tompolo has a subsisting security contract with the government for the patrol of our water ways and "importation of arms" (according to NIMASA).

Nigeria's army is underfunded and outnumbered, yet we hear trillions have been spent on defence!!

How much arms has been made available to state actors through Global West Ltd??

Who has been the beneficiary of the imports made by the company above when we are sure it is not NIMASA, the NN, the NA, the NAF, or the NPF??

Is Jonathan deliberately making the Nigerian Army handicap while he equips the militants using state funds through GWL

Think about it guys....

The military is an institution bigger and older than the government itself. Its hands cannot be tied by any individual in it. Stop all these irrelevant speculations. This war simply cannot be won by force of arms alone. It is ideological.

If the situation is this bad, how can the soldiers do well in the face of a rabid enemy. I use to think that when bedevilled by a regime in slumber, the cry of the populace usually results in change in momentum. But here we are discrediting a report put together by a network with no stake in our country. The evolving scenario in this BH insurgency has shown that we have three sets of enemies militating against a possible triumph. They are
1. BH itself
2. those who try to suppress, ridicule or casts aspersion on complaints of inadequacy in the military, and
3. the BH members in GEJ cabinet.

The government has tried to negotiate with boko haram as excerpt below shows. Last effort resulted in them being duped yet again (and we have intelligence services ko?). Obasanjo made an effort and has criticised Jonathan for not following through.

...
Since August 2011, the government has undertaken "back-channel" talks with the Islamists, according to Jonathan's spokesman, Reuben Abati, based on recommendations by a panel tasked to negotiate with the group and provide amnesty for those who renounce violence.

On 16 September 2011, former president Olusegun Obasanjo held talks with some Boko Haram members in their birthplace and stronghold, the northeastern city of Maiduguri, where they tabled demands for a ceasefire which included an end to arrests and killings of their members, payment of compensation to families of sect members killed by security personnel, and prosecution of policemen responsible for the killing of sect leader Mohammed Yusuf in June 2009.

"Obasanjo submitted these demands to the president who promised to look into them but he has not implemented any of the demands," said Sani, who facilitated and participated in the meeting between Obasanjo and the Boko Haram members.

But since then, trust has not been forged on either side. "The major obstacle to dialogue with Boko Haram is the involvement of scammers," added Sani.

"Most of the proposals for dialogue are targeted at getting money from the government and the president has on a number of occasions been duped and deceived by people in the corridors of power who usually present fictitious peace proposal that ends up as a scam."

There are lots of moles in the Nigerian defense. The Northerners are croocked people who want to have that power by all means to destruct that nation further. If Buhari by any chance become the president(which I don't see happening) there will be another terror happening in the South because the Northerners have laid down the hate right from time when they were dictators without offering the nation anything. That nation is in problem even if Buhari is in power! Those in the South will not allowed their resources to be squandered by those who stole their oil blocks owning almost all the wells. Are Nigerians that blind?! Jeez!

I don't like Buhari!

I'm sure you don't even know today in history. For your education, today is Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Nigeria, a day in which military men both dead and living are remembered and celebrated for their selfless service to the nation hence it was very appropriate for the president to have done the ceremony for the dead military men in Abuja and also go to the battle front to appreciate the efforts of those keeping the peace in the troubled area of Maiduguri and others. Note that Jonathan did not go there for electioneering campaign.
It is because you can not reason like a human being that is why you have military mentality, looking for a bully to set your faculty straight. Nonsense.
