If dansuki said we bought only 14 or 16 t72 tanks ; then with pictures that I have seing and t72 tanks have seing around suggest we purchased close to 100 units, both variants I mean.

Recycled photos of same T-72 tanks in different locations....equipment moved around towns....Tanks have wheels, they just need a driver to relocate from one area of operation to another....no let them scam you o ! Dasuki is reported to have admitted in November that the total number of T-72 tanks he imported is 14, that was in news report last month. The BMP-1 IFV we bought 4 units. Meanwhile let's wait for court case final judgement next year 2016.

I can tell you confidently that I have valued ALL the weapons/equipment reported on SIPRI as imported 2014 into Nigeria, all those ordered in 2014 are less than $300 million in value, most are second hand and I know market prices.....out of the $2.2 billion cash given out, $1.9 billion is not accounted for !

However, there will be costs of rifles/small arms/infantry light weapons, ordnance/ammunition, air and sea transportation/importation costs, soldiers daily tour of duty pocket allowances, feeding, fuel/oil/diesel/petrol, repairs and maintenance of equipment, special foreign training for special troops, logistics/sleeping tents/mosquito nets/power generators, medical supplies, etc. All those will be part of expenses on the war effort, but they will not cost too much.

How much is bullet when you buy in bulk? Cheap ! Fuel can come direct from NNPC, cheaper ! How much is gari, cow meat aplenty in the north, blood/glucose/morphine/injection syringe/antibiotics/antimalaria....the doctors and nurses are free...army medical corps soldiers. All these will never add up to the missing $2 billion, maybe they will total about $500 million for 2014-2015, so $1.4 billion is still not accounted for !

Give up another $400 million for stuff that we do not know about and let us assume they were purchased not disclosed or services paid for not published, like a few surveillance equipment, radars, cameras, consultancy fees, field engineering construction contractors, etc....

Then finally at least $ 1 billion naira is still NOT accounted for !!!!

Never mind that we did not even add the money they got from state government donations and monthly state of emergency federal cash deductions at source from the accounts/statutory allocations of the 3 states under emergency, Yobe, Borno, Adamawa every quarter/3 months or 4 times a year....for the past two and a half years !!!!

As an accountant/trained ex-KPMG auditor/military researcher, if I audit those government officials and the physically visible equipment delivered into the armoury/field, many soldiers and civilians will go to jail.

grin grin shocked cool...... so why are you insisting that we only purchased 16 t72 MBT. My point is that sometimes you can't only use SIPRI or even defence procurement source to base your judgement, am not saying these websites/sources are not good. But Just get your sources and gather facts that's all.

If SIPRI knows all sources why the number of BIGFOOT MRAP and the REVA APC is missing and some other NAF procurement. The reason is simple they only make use of open source made available.

Chief, I salute you.

SIPRI record confirms 120 Bigfoot MRAP and 48 REVA MRAP.....our second hand NAF Alpha jets were airframes only, the engines are Nigerian old engines, we imported Alpha jet Korofo....SIPRI missed our Korofo, how do you report sale of korofo aircraft body without engine?

If you buy tokunboh toyota body with no engine at Owode Onirin market or Apapa berger near tin can....can we say you bought car ? grin grin

Yeap they have wheels and they move/transported from one frontline to another. And I can confidently tell you that the t72s without ERA armor (M1)are more than 16 talk less of the t72AV.
On the BMP-1,I also disagree with you on the numbers, dansuki in a response gave the number as 20units.
Of course with that kind of money/budget we should av gone for state of the art equipment, and it's every bodies dream that his thrown behind bars.

Lol.... I haven't checked Wiki for a year now. I'm explaining things on ground. Ask around about the second hand tanks imported into this countries and ask how they are showing all over the theatre Bro. It's conspicous for all to see and verify Mate. Even, go and check Sipri website.
It's really worse than you think Oga Bidexii. We've argued about that for months until reality dawn on me about the actual number we are currently operating. Only 14 have been accounted for. Or do you think that if we have over 100 T72 as you said, we won't have roasted those "messengers-from-hell" to thy kingdom comes How will they over-run a military post/base with atleast 2 tanks on standby? Haven't you wondered why there are "retreats" from the military, isn't it obvious they lack what can toast BH technicals and VBIED(s)?
We are told that over 20 helios would be bought but just 2 has been accounted for.
Research on this Mate and you will see why the Military can't EVER meet the December deadline Final push(more like pull).
How many tanks do you think was shipped by air and sea? I mean the emergency purchase that would and have leads to headache for our engineers. The handwritting is on the wall...very saddening. Oga Canonleo, come and tell us what you know about the number of T72 tanks in operation.
Oga Bidexiii, the highlighted words says it all. What am trying to say is that, THAT IS THE SITUATION ON GROUND. Meaning....... Only 14 has been ACCOUNTED for. Period!!! That is the actual number being fielded and purchased. An impeccable source VERBALLY stated that before i even saw it on SIPRI and heard that from Dasuki. We disagree to agree. Let's forget about all the pictures circulating about, we know they are only for stunt and propaganda.
They moved those tanks all over the theatre where threats seems high.

Accounted for how..... by SIPRI..... you'l say most of the sources you want to believe in? With most t72 M1 & AV av seing around and pictures, to show how source are conflicting some say 14 and some 16.
If we where to go with what is on ground, then the numbers of t72(M1 & AV) is more than 16 units!

I have proven my own source :-

Nigeria bought T-72 tanks from 2 sources.

-Ukraine

-Excalibur group, a Czech republic defence contractor.

The Ukrainian tanks are T-72AV. These are the ones with ERA. The other Tanks from Czech republic are T-72M1s these tanks do not have ERA. They were purchased from Hungary by Excalibur from Hungarian surplus stock.

The Czech deal only cost Nigeria a paltry $8 million, that is, only a handful of tanks and 16 other types of vehicles.. The Antonov that delivered the vehicles made only 3 trips to Nigeria.

Local Residents said there was an exchange of heavy gun fire and artillery after Al-Shabaab militants ambushed the soldiers.

Nigerian army captures Boko Haram's 'chief cameraman'

Nigeria’s army says it has detained a wanted man believed to be the chief cameraman for the country’s Boko Haram insurgent group.
The military on Saturday said the man -- identified as Abdullahi Abubakar Sadiq -- along with at least four others, had been arrested in Uba town, northeastern Borno state.
Sadiq was 58 on a military list of 100 Boko Haram targets, said army spokesman Sani Usman.
"Troops also arrested two other suspected Boko Haram terrorists along with two other terrorists at Rumirgo and Kilakasa," he added.
The Nigerian army is hunting 100 people wanted for being the major force behind the insurgency that plagues the region.
Abubakar Shekau, who is the main leader of Boko Haram group, tops the list of wanted persons. A number of these 100 suspects have been captured since the list was released a few months ago.
Boko Haram has emerged as a serious threat in Nigeria. More than 1,700 people have been killed since President Muhammadu Buhari took office on May 29, according to the Nigerian government.
Since then, more than 100 have died in suicide bombings in Borno and Yobe states.
In recent years, Borno state has been at the epicenter of a deadly insurgency by the Boko Haram militant group, which is known for carrying out frequent attacks on civilian targets.
A large part of Borno state was captured by Boko Haram last year but much of where the militants captured had since been liberated since March.

Sambisa Forest battle: 3 soldiers killed as Nigerian Army commences attack on Boko Haram

Three soldiers were killed as the Nigerian military commenced an attack on Boko Haram deep inside the Sambisa Forest, a major stronghold of the group, an official has said.
Several terrorists were killed during the attacks were many people were also rescued, the Army spokesperson, Sani Usman, said.
He also stated that three soldiers sustained injuries in the various military operations against the Boko Haram, whose activities have caused the death of about 20,000 people since 2009.
Read the army’s full statement below
Military Commence Strikes Deep Into Sambisa Forest
The Nigerian Army has commenced strikes deep inside Sambisa forest which is believed to be the remaining strong point of the Boko Haram terrorists.
Various units of the Army have advanced deep into the forest clearing most of the camps therein, rescuing persons held captive, arresting some terrorists and destroying most of their weapons and equipment.
Advancing troops of the Nigerian Army, supported by the Nigerian Air Force were able to clear and destroy Boko Haram terrorists camps at Shuari, Adembe, Yerimari Kura, Yerimari Gana, Gonin Kurmi, Kore, Mainya Kore, and Lopere. Additionally, the Multi-barrel Rocket Launcher Regiment has destroyed the terrorists camps at Dure, Dure Kore, Jokwa, as well as several other camps.
The troops recovered foodstuff, motorcycles, flags, Improvised Explosive Making Devices (IED) materials and military uniforms. Among other discoveries were the terrorists tunnels, weapons and equipment. The soldiers also recovered 2,000 cows rustled from various persons over time and rescued women and children held captives by the Boko Haram. While the animals have been moved to Kanwuri, the rescued persons have been evacuated and are being given all the necessary support and assistance.
During the encounter with the terrorists at Yerimari Gana a number of Boko Haram terrorists were killed and some suspected terrorists were arrested who are being interrogated. However, a soldier sustained gunshot wound and fracture on the leg.
Similarly, while advancing to destroy Nefari terrorists camp, troops discovered and cleared 3 IEDs laid along the route. The camp was successfully cleared and troops have continued their advance while a blocking force has been deployed to prevent infiltration and possible escape by the terrorists.
Unfortunately during another encounter with the terrorists along the axis of advance, 3 soldiers made the supreme sacrifice, while an officer and 2 soldiers were wounded in action.
It is instructive to note that the troops morale is very high and being conscious of their set objective, they are unrelenting in their determination to defeat the Boko Haram terrorists.
In a related development, troops have also destroyed Boko Haram terrorists camps Bulagaije and Disa, Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State and recovered motorcycles, Dane guns and ammunitions.

Nigerian Troops have intercepted and killed many Boko Haram insurgents while trying to escape the onslaught on the Sambisa forest.

He said troops had, on Tuesday, also recovered a Toyota Hilux vehicle , two boxes of 7.62mm ammunitions and some Improvised Explosives making Devices cords during an encounter in Buni Yadi general area.
