There's nothing wrong in doing gucciflage and tactical pics, infact, it's an important piece of psychological warfare. The U.S navy alone, uploads over 300 high definition photos each day. The Russians upload over 200 H.D images each day, same as other NATO members, even the chinese, Indians and Pakistanis.

It's only in Africa where military leaders do not understand the importance of military propaganda.

We do not know who trained them, as with everything in Nigeria, information is scarce. However the government made us fully aware that troops would be trained in Russia and Belarus.

What if ur jet/choppa got hit by heavy technicals and injected. U will need at least a 9mm, submachine or carbine riffles to survive through hostile part ways to safety.
Even military medical doctors/chaplains are thought in basic training on how to handle weapons......

Everybody is an Infantry man. Chaplains, imams, medical doctors, pilots, cooks et al.

They carry them for self-protection, just in-case they get shot down. Sub-machine guns or 9mm, no carbines or assault rifles.

I wonder what specific training were they given.....russia has a lot of spetsnaz unit....that they blur the line.....so I keep asking was it gru, vympel , omoh or so on that trained our guys. .......if it isn't gru. .......then I don't think they got the right training regarding BH......Russia sometimes commit their paramilitary SF to war fronts.

Regardless of who trained them....... And not getting right training regarding BH.....

The basic fact is our SF is not still well equipped, they still some basic equipment and hardware to hit BH real hard !

Cameroon assails major Boko Haram base in Nigeria ON FEBRUARY 16, 2016;

Cameroon mounted a major assault against a key Boko Haram base in Nigeria last week, inflicting heavy losses on the Islamist group and seizing arms and prisoners, the government said in a statement obtained by AFP on Tuesday. The Cameroonian army offensive took place from February 11 to 14 in Ngoshe in Nigeria, some 15 kilometres (nine miles) from the northern town of Ashigashia on the border between the two countries, government spokesman and Communications Minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary said in the statement. “162 Boko Haram terrorists were neutralised,” or killed, and two Cameroonian soldiers also died, he said. The report could not be independently confirmed. The minister said around 100 hostages had been released, including 15 Cameroonians, in the attack against the Boko Haram command post housing facilities for making bombs and mines. “The command post was also used to brainwash and train teenagers used as human bombs for kamikaze attacks,” he said. Four facilities for making improvised mines were found there as well as hundreds of containers full of explosive devices, batteries, detonator wires and suicide vests, the statement said. Among weapons seized were heavy machine-guns, rocket-launchers, AK-47s, grenades, 100 training rifles, uniforms and thousands of munitions. The assault had been approved by Nigeria and was part of the “Arrow Five” operation involving a multinational force set up to fight Boko Haram that includes Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Benin. In recent years, Boko Haram fighters slipped back and forth across the frontier, often using Cameroon’s remote north as a rear base, acquiring arms, vehicles and supplies there. But since late November, the Cameroon army has carried out operations in several border areas aimed at weakening the Nigerian jihadists. As a result, the insurgents turned away from direct confrontation with the military in favour of suicide attacks, increasingly staged by women and girls. Nearly 1,200 people have been killed since the Nigerian fighters took their offensive into neighbouring Cameroon in 2013, according to government figures. In Nigeria, the group has killed at least 17,000 people and made more than 2.6 million other homeless since the six year campaign began..

AFP and its one sided reportage. The operation was led by NA SF and the Task force batallion. The French guy reporting this completely left out the part where the Camerounian official mentioned Nigeria.

These is what happens when our top brass fail to exploit the power of propaganda. But to an extent images emerging from the operation shows a lot of Cameroonian hardware and the lost on the there part might show there major involvement.

And don't forget BH prisoners where hindered over to Nigerian troops....... . We are waiting for the DHQ statement ,if there is no counter- statement from our top military officials that means there are elements of truth, but to some extent there was a joint operation but the NA troops where not the majority....... sad

TROOPS INTENSIFY EFFORTS OF CLEARING REMNANTS OF BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS "WARNING FLASH IMAGES"

Troops of Nigerian Army in various sectors in Operation LAFIYA DOLE have been carrying out raids, patrols, cordon and search operations in a bid to clear remnants of Boko Haram terrorists in their respective areas of operations.

It was here also that some suspected Boko Haram elements on sighting the troops, ran and abandoned 6 motorcycles and beans looted from the inhabitants of the area.
The same team also recovered 21 motorcycles and Boko Haram terrorists flag at Korode abandoned by the fleeing terrorists. Similarly, a civilian vehicle encountered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at the area which badly affected it. The troops also discovered another IED at Mauvi village which was safely detonated.
In their efforts, troops of 7 Division Garrison, 112 Battalion, Army Headquarters Support Group and elements of Armed Forces Special Forces conducted a joint fighting patrol to suspected Boko Haram terrorists enclave in Gajibo, Maula, Gamai, Gamare, Maiwa, Warsale, Tangli, Tushi, Sowa, Hasanari, Changuwa, Malamaja and Marya towns in Mafa and Dikwa Local Governments Areas.

CONTROLLING THE AREA OF OPERATIONS
We cannot dominate the battlefield if we cannot control it.

The Area of Operations (AO) is greatly influenced by the terrain and the prevailing climatic conditions in which the operations take place. Exploiting and gaining control over the Area of Operations with surprise, speed and firepower ought to be a priority for own forces commanders.

The Operating Environment, also referred to as the Operational Environment (OE), is a combination of circumstances and influences that impact greatly AO and, in turn, on the decisions of commanders and subsequently, the deployment of forces and assets.

As Own Forces control over the AO/OE will place the enemy at a disadvantage and allow commanders to dictate the flow and tempo of battle or operations, the enemy will use every means possible to prevent this control and thereby attempt to impede Own Forces’ momentum and deny Own Forces the initiative.

To gain and maintain control over both the AO, the enemy or insurgent forces must be denied the ability to:

1. Prevent Own Forces access to the AO: The enemy will achieve this by denying, delaying and disrupting own forces that wish to enter the AO. These actions will be strengthened by propaganda, mines, IEDs, ambushes, stand-off bombardments, selective demolitions or a combination of these actions. Access routes and logistical lines will become prime targets to prevent effective deployment and sustainment of own forces within the Area of Operations.

2. Influence the local population: Regardless of the type of operation, the enemy will make maximum use of influencing the local population to his advantage. This advantage can include the gathering of intelligence on Own Forces entering or in the AO, assist the enemy in channelling forces into preplanned killing grounds (this can be done with simple methods such as using children or even livestock to block a specific route) and so forth. If the local population realise that Own Forces will withdraw soon after the operation, they will support the enemy to prevent retaliation after these forces have withdrawn.

3. Disperse forces: The enemy will attempt to divert the focus of Own Forces commanders in order to preserve his combat forces. This will be achieved by deploying his forces over a wide area/front whilst exploiting terrain of strategic and tactical importance to stage smaller actions aimed at inflicting casualties and confusing commanders. These actions may induce commanders to attack enemy forces at a time and place favourable to the enemy, thus causing casualties amongst the local population and unnecessary collateral damage. This will turn the local population against the attacking forces. Dispersion will, furthermore, prevent Own Forces commanders from accurately determining the enemy’s Trinity of Gravity

4. Impede momentum: The enemy will exploit every weakness in the advancing or attacking forces thrust in order to slow down the momentum. Ambushes, nuisance minefields, IEDs and such will prolong the conflict whilst drawing forces into terrain that is favourable to the enemy. By impeding momentum and thus prolonging the conflict, the enemy will attempt to survive tactically in order to achieve a strategic victory over the advancing or attacking forces. Logistical supply lines - along with static forward bases - will become prime enemy targets, being subject to assaults, raids, stand-off bombardments and even suicide bombers. These actions do not only lead to Own Forces casualties but may deprive commanders of the initiative.

5. Neutralise strengths: The enemy will attempt to neutralise the attacking forces by occupying villages, towns and other complex areas in order to divide the forces and attack them at a time and place of their choosing. Using villages to shield their actions, the enemy will be able to inflict casualties and even achieve small tactical successes. As the enemy will often know the AO better than the attacking forces, he will use the terrain to his advantage and strike high-visibility targets to gain a propaganda and psychological advantage. Retaliation by the armed forces may result in excessive collateral damage, resulting in increased local support to the enemy and the resultant propaganda proclaiming the enemy is “everywhere”

6. Deny safe areas: The enemy will make every attempt to deny safe and secure areas to the attacking forces during all phases of the operation. Using indirect and direct fire, landmines, IEDs and so forth, the enemy will target laager areas, temporary bases from positions that prevent Own Forces retaliation, such as villages, towns and so forth

7. Achieve surprise: As the enemy will in many instances be more familiar with the AO than the attacking forces, he will use every advantage he has in order to gain a strategic or tactical surprise. This may include the use of deception, feints, raids, stand-off bombardments and other actions to confuse the Own Forces commanders.

8. Gather intelligence: Good OPSEC measures as well as counter intelligence techniques must be used to prevent the enemy from gaining a clear understanding of Own Forces’ strengths, weaknesses and TTPs. Avoiding routine, alternating routes, night operations and so forth can be used effectively to confuse the enemy and deny his understanding of how Own Forces operate.

Climatic variations, although having a significant impact on operations within the AO, are beyond the control of both Own Forces and the enemy. Like terrain, it favours the one who “reads” it correctly, and uses and exploits it.

Whereas air power is crucial to achieving air superiority, conducting aerial reconnaissance and providing Close Air Support, air power loses much of its utility when the enemy make use of towns and villages to shield his activities.

Controlling the AO should therefore not rely exclusively on air power but rather rely on soldiers who are correctly trained, equipped and deployed to ensure domination of the area.

TROOPS DESTROY BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS CAMPS IN ALAGARNO AND SAMBISA FORESTS

The Nigerian troops has continued its offensive operations of destroying all  Boko Haram terrorists remaining camps and enclaves around Alagarno and Sambisa forests. Today, (Tuesday), troops of 81 Battalion and 251 Task Force Battalion patrol team, cleared Boko Haram camps located at Komala, Dole, Kumshi and Moadori around the fringes of Alagarno forest.

The troops killed 2 Boko Haram terrorists and captured 2 notorious terrorists; Mustapha Busuru (50 years old) and Usman Abubakar (56 years) at Dole village and brought down all Boko Haram terrorist flags hoisted in the village and destroyed them. They also recovered 2 Toyota pick up vans, 40 motorcycles, Improvised Explosives Making Devices (IEDs), stockpile of foodstuffs and fuel dump. The patrol team also recovered horses and donkeys used for transportation by the terrorists.

In response to a distress  call of an attack by Boko Haram terrorists on Kuda village along Butuku road, troops of 143 Battalion swung into action, unfortunately the terrorists fled after setting the village on fire that led to the death of an elderly woman. The escaped insurgents regrouped and  attempted to cross through Magar bridge but they were pre-empted by elements of the Battalion who killed 2 terrorists and wounded several others.

Sadly, 3 soldiers and 4 locals sustained injuries, while the troops recovered 1 Toyota Buffalo vehicle mounted with an Anti-Aircraft Gun with registration number 081375, one General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) with registration number 132042, a loaded G3 rifle magazine and 30 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunitions link.

Both military and the wounded civilians are receiving treatment at the unit’s Regimental Aid Post.

TROOPS AMBUSHED BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS

In continuation of their exploits against the Boko Haram terrorists, troops of 81 Battalion and 251 Task Force Battalion, have intensified offensive actions against the terrorists.
Last night, the troops laid ambush against some elements of the Boko Haram at two of their crossing points at Komala and Musafanari general area coming from Sambisa forest.
The ambush party decisively dealt with some terrorists on motorcycles in which a number of terrorists were killed and a few others flee with gunshot wounds. The troops recovered one AK45 rifle with registration number 56-2614519, in addition to a magazine containing 9 rounds of 7.62mm (Special), 6 motorcycles, 2 bags of salt and other assorted food items as well as various Improvised Explosive Making Devices (IEDs).
The recovered items clearly shows that that the terrorists were out for a nefarious mission which was aborted by the timely ambushes. Consequent upon this, we wish to implore members of the public to kindly oblige us with timely information on the Boko Haram terrorists to enable the military and indeed the security to deal with them decisively.
The troops in various axis of the theatre are poised for the clearance of the remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists in our country.
You are please requested to disseminate this information to the public through your medium.

Only thing it tells me is weapon familiarization, which is necessary.
Are you saying it is proper to spend so much to train such an elite team and send them into actual battles with legacy Ak47?
