Why Are Some Jonathan Fans Still Hating?? by tbaba1234: 9:42pm On Apr 16, 2015 |
I remember when GEJ won the election in 2011, I did not support him but I really hoped that he proved me wrong. The progress of Nigeria was paramount on my mind. For Nigeria,I got behind Jonathan. Buhari's win has not been met with the same kind of sportmanship. In fact, some GEJ fans are openly hoping for his failure. Some have gone as far as to wish him death. It is terrible to see the kind of hate that exists within these people. If Buhari is successful, you are successful and we are all happy. For now, they should be given the benefit of the doubt. They can be given constructive criticism when they take over. 12 Likes |

tbaba1234: Precisely what I have been saying also. Many of us initially got behind GEJ, for the sake of Nigeria, even if we doubted his ability to deliver. Should Nigerians, even for the sake of self-preservation, not wish Buhari succeeds? Well, let them keep hating. That will not prevent Buhari and other well-meaning Nigerians like Fashola et al working hard to make Nigeria a better country. 13 Likes |

barcanista: You have lost a lot of credibility in the eyes of many so it is difficult to take you seriously but i'd respond. I. You can not be constructive with pre conceived conclusions. That already spells prejudice. Ii I am not a politician like you so my talk is directed to average Nigerians. Opposition parties say what they want if it benefits them. Iii. Nigerians can gauge the direction of a government within the first few months but before then they should be given the benefit of the doubt. 23 Likes 3 Shares |

sCun: Please what "hypocrisy" are you talking about? Even these posts you dug up shows I was entirely honest when I say I got behind GEJ and wished him well and even gave advice on how I thought he could succeed despite not supporting his candidacy. I even gave my own little contribution as per what I felt GEJ must do, given that he had offended so many and needed to get Nigerians on his side. Go on confess to us whether GEJ led Nigeria for ordinary Nigerians or if he made his Presidency about abetting the "born to rule " elements from the North in his own Party who vowed to make life difficult for him as I warned he must not do. Amosun has just shown that if you get the ordinary man behind you then you stand a chance of overcoming. I am glad you dug these posts up so Nairalanders can see I predicted it would not be easy for GEJ yet suggested precisely what I felt he shoud do to succeed. Non of which GEJ did to the point I can now say "the rest is history". If only haters of Buhari, if they have the progress of Nigeria in mind as I did, can take an example from my post below and offer their honest and heartfelt advice to the President-elect instead of only announcing he will fail. At least I mentioned what I thought GEJ should do. He did not do those things so I stand vindicated when I say GEJ squandered the goodwill many, including those who did not support him in 2011, g=had for him after he won the general election. My advice to GEJ is that he must ditch his "all things to all men" style . He must refrain from trying to pacify everyone with important and influential office to recognise that it is strong men in strong institutions who can make his Presidency a success . Men like Col. Umar should be brought in while the likes of Anenih must go . Interestingly , Umar, so far, is the only prominent Northerner who has come out to praise the election and appeal for calm. 14 Likes 1 Share |

sCun: If you are honest with yourself, you will see all I advised GEJ not to do, because it would be detrimental to his Presidency, is al he was interested in doing. Everything I suggested he does, revolving mainly around leading for ordinary Nigerians and getting them on his side, he rejected. Amosun survived and overcame a vicious political gang-up because he delivered for the ordinary people and they did not abandon him in his time of need. Did GEJ do that despite being a very lucky chap placed far above his station? Did GEJ even show gratitude or lend a listening ear to all who agitated to get him sworn in when Turai Yar Adua hijacked the Presidency? What Nairaland can see with these post is proof I am totally about the progress of Nigeria to the extent I gave commonsensical advice to a President I did not believe in yet wanted to succeed for the sake of my Country. Perhaps you and others can learn from that i.e focusing on what matters most , which is the progress of Nigeria, rather than obsessing about individual leaders who come and go while Nigeria still remains. Do you not see how I warned GEJ that he should not think his "divine emergence" is enough and he must match that with integrity, utmost bravery and unflinching political will before Nigerians start seeing through him thus losing him goodwill and destroying the whole 'goodluck' divinity Nigerians were obsessed with back then? Jonathan would have probably had a better Presidency shunning the Okupes and Omokris of the world to listen to the commonsense advice from ordinary Nigerians he chose to turn his back on. Those who want GEJ out will have been encouraged by his weak style , in the face of crisis ( both political and physical) aimed at appeasing everyone . "Divine" emergence that is not matched by integrity , utmost bravery and unflinching political will can only get you so far before people begin to see through you . We enter an unpredictable dawn from tomorrow . I was gracious enough to wait patiently to be proven right about Yar Adua . I am certain GEJ is another Yar Adua or worse. If he gains another 4 years , then I hope , for the sake of the suffering masses , I am wrong about him. Nothing is personal for me . It is all about the progress and greatness of Nigeria. 10 Likes |

barcanista: There is no sense in this post. constructive criticism should come when he has been sworn in. The last time i checked otuoke dullard is still the president. About laughable promises, why dont you wait and see? to some of us impossible is not a word. lastly at people wishing buhari failure they have forgotten that failure of a president affects the citizens, most of them are either retarded or still living under their parents. if you foot bills and also responsible for upkeep of others you wont wish any sitting government failure. if i was better of than 2011 why will i want Gej out in the first place? i guess common sense is a rare attribute to pdp supporters 15 Likes |

sCun: Go and read my postings back then comprehensively to know I am no hypocrite. I stated it clearly who the "born to rule" are and still believe they remain the same till today. They are the likes of Ciroma, Atiku, Yakassai et al who insisted Jonathan must hand over to the North. I never included Buhari and Ribadu in that category. In fact, since you are talented digging up old posts, I challenge you to look further into the archives to see I stated that Buhari, while "born to rule" Northerners sought to disqualify GEJ from running in 2011, spoke up to say Jonathan is constitutionally allowed to run for the Presidency. Do you know what that action from Buhari means and the personal integrity the man had to take such a stance at a time even Governor Lamido was foaming at the mouth against "dishonourable" GEJ running "on the slot of the North"? I am motivated by the progress of Nigeria. This means that I am consistent in utterance and thinking because I understand that players come and go yet the game remains. 12 Likes |

taharqa: Taharqa, when are you going to grow up? Did I not suggest what may happen to Jonathan and how he should avoid such happening? Yet you insult me because GEJ deliberately chose to go against what those genuinely interested in his success suggested he did. Did GEJ not focus on appeasing those trying to bring him down while he ignored leading for ordinary Nigerians? You have been here long enough. You saw, as one example, where I implored GEJ to go after and destroy the scam aspect of the fuel subsidy instead of punishing suffering Nigerians with torturous subsidy removal. You guys will never see that. you will never note we offered solutions, alongside our criticism, which GEJ chose to ignore. Instead you will come here with your insult after GEJ destroyed his own Presidency leading for the elites, the corrupt, the AGIPs, the political jobbers and those plotting against him while he spurned ordinary Nigerians. I pity you. I will continue hoping you will grow up one day and reject the empty stubbornness that makes you blind to reason always. Do you not see below where, unlike you and others are unwilling to do for Buhari, I gave GEJ the benefit of the doubt and decided to see his cabinet appointment before judging the 'tone' of his Presidency? Some of you guys are just incorrigible. My advice to GEJ is that he must ditch his "all things to all men" style . He must refrain from trying to pacify everyone with important and influential office to recognise that it is strong men in strong institutions who can make his Presidency a success . Men like Col. They can be bitter for all most of us care, after all, bitterness has been part and parcel of their daily lives since time immemorial. Their perpetual companion. The kind of nasty hate campaign they preferred against the General in the last months leading up to the defeat of their principal at the poll pitched them against well meaning Nigerians. It was the most scandalous mode of politicking we've ever witnessed in the country that saw decorum relegated to the back stage while vile personal attacks assumed a life form with them. We all expected reason and common sense to prevail after the elections had been won and lost so much so that I even edited my siggy to reflect same (which is still standing), but Noooo, there is no such thing called common sense in the lexicon of PDP and her supporters! They just couldn't wait for the Gentleman to even assume the position before their tongues, or do I say fingers, start wagging. So in the spirit of fairness, we have chosen to respond to them in equal measure. When they make up their minds to become reasonable and act like human beings, we'd pretend to believe they've indeed seen the light and act likewise. But in the meantime, I say it is a fist for a fist and a slug for a slug. Na dem go tire. 10 Likes |

omenka: GEJ and PDP fans, after the PDP lost the Presidential election, have unravelled as very wicked, vengeful, unpatriotic and evil enemies of Nigeria's progress. All they know is to insultingly join issues with other posters while never suggesting anything positive or progressive that can move Nigeria forward. Look at the chap who brought up my old posts, which predicted how Jonathan will fail, to discredit me. Yet he conveniently pretended not to see the part where, alongside my prediction of the problems GEJ would face, I suggested how Mr.President could prevent those problems ruining his Presidency. Did GEJ do a single thing he was asked to do by progress-minded Nigerians? Big NO !!! Yet his fans can only attempt to discredit others while they fail to acknowledge that Jonathan brought himself down by leading for the elites and those who did not mean well for him while he turned his back on Nigerians as some of us warned he must never do. To be honest, I am really tired of GEJ/PDP fans and wish most can take up Afghanistan citizenship because they are really not useful to Nigeria. 5 Likes |

tbaba1234: You people that rejoiced at every calamity that befell Nigeria, castigated and insulted every thing about (President Goodluck Jonathan) Federal Government and what it represented, extolled Bokoharam and magnified their exploits, demoralized our military and have nothing good to say about Federal Government's achievements because you people were in the opposition, are now talking about patriotism? Hell No, it can't happen. This is now how opposition politics will be played in Nigeria till thy kingdom come. May I ask, why are you people behaving as if you people just defeated the Eastern Nigeria in a civil war with the election of Mohammadu Buhari? You are yet to see anything until Buhari is sworn in and takes the position as the most insulted President in the world history. Gbawe:They can be of no use even to Afghanistan because they are hardly useful even to themselves. Their spiteful outbursts cannot resonate beyond the limits nairaland.com. and that is really where their "usefulness" is limited to. The only time I ever supported their principal was during the Yar'Adua saga when he (Jonathan) was pocketed by the late president's wife. I supported him not because I felt he was the right man for the job, but because transferring powers to him was indeed the right thing to do. He never gave me any reason to believe in his ability looking back at his days in Bayelsa government house. Often times then when my friends engaged me, I insisted Jonathan didn't have what it takes to govern a country as vast and as complex as Nigeria. No sooner did he assume full powers than he started proving me right and them wrong by accentuating our fault-lines, fragmenting the country along ethnic and religious lines, ultimately sowing seed of prejudice and mistrust whose effect would be felt for years after his exit. Despite his agonising misrule, Nigeria endured and has chosen a leader who stands a very good chance of bringing her out of the woods and charting a new course for redemption. Most Nigerians are united in that belief irrespective of class, age, ethnicity and religion. The least those louts could do is give him time to see how his policies pan out before castigation, after all, only a mad man would want to cast aspersions on a subject that is non-existent. We will continue to engage them as they come. Hopefully, Buhari would put up a show that would silence them forever. 6 Likes |

I think the real fear of these guys is that they went for broke with GEJ, who will now go down in history as a horrid misruler and weak leader, while it is those from ethnic groups they despise immensely who may actually succeed in leading Nigeria into an age of progress and aggressive socio-economic development. I don't envy them sha.
