President-elect Muhammadu Buhari over the years has promised to appoint credible Nigerians into his cabinet. In fact, he is expected to come on board with fresh ideas and technocrats to help achieve his promises. However, a look at his Presidential Inauguration Committee gives one cause to question whether some of the members could really effect change that Buhari preaches. They are...

1. Timpre Sylva- Chairman Buhari Inauguration Committee

In February 2012, EFCC instituted lawsuit against Timpre Sylva for N5billion money laundering charge. Sylva fled Bayelsa state shortly after being sacked from Bayelsa state Government House by the Supreme

court. Corruption charges against him was filed in absentia.

saharareporters.com/2012/02/24/efcc-slams-money-laundering-charges-against-former-bayelsa-governor-timipre-sylva

May 2013: EFCC arrested and detained exGov Timpre Sylva for corruption charges that runs into N48billion. In fact, when the EFCC operatives swooped on Sylva's house,

his aides told them that Sylva was away, while he was inside. In the words of EFCC Source(as reported by Vanguard)

“Ironically, the ex-governor, who was said to be out of town, was later found hiding in a dingy corner in the upper chamber of his expansive mansion.

“He was immediately whisked away and is currently being interrogated at the Abuja headquarters of the anti- graft agency,”
.

Sylva had earlier been on the run in his bid to evade arrest.

N/B: Sylva's Corruption Case is still on as at July 2014 and still on as at today...

2. Kawu Baraje, Member Buhari Inauguration Committee

He was a Former National Secretary of the PDP and a founding member of the party. He served as Chairman, Nigeria Railway Corporation. On November 2013 the Board of NRC passed vote of no confidence on Baraje for his "“inability or refusal” to convene board meetings, as statutorily prescribed, had stalled progress of the board in the discharge of its duties.” Though he eventually resigned voluntarily, he never denied nor refuted the allegation against him.

tribune.com.ng/news2013/index.php/en/news/news-headlines/item/26191-pdp-crisis-nrc-board-passes-vote-of-no-confidence-in-baraje.html

3. John Shagaya, Member Buhari Inauguration Committee

A retired Army General that served as the Internal Affairs Minister under IBB administration. He was also a member He was a Senator under PDP platform between 2007 and 2011. During the Military era, he was a core "IBB" boy and he declared at one time that "he was proud to be called IBB boy" at his 66th birthday. Shagaya also participated in the 1966 counter coup

saharareporters.com/2009/03/20/ibb-boy-john-shagaya

4. Babagana Kingibe, Member Buhari Inauguration Committee

He was the running mate to Chief MKO Abiola during the 1993 Presidential election that was annuled by IBB. Kingibe later turned his back against Abiola to join the Abacha's regime at a time when Abiola was fighting for his mandate. He was rewarded with Ministery of Foreign Affairs and later that of Internal Affairs . He was also appointed Secretary to the Government by late Musa Yaradua in June 2007, but was fired barely one year later for disloyalty to the government. Tribune Newspaper had reported that Kingibe had said in 2008 that "in the event that the president could not continue in office, power should not be handed over to Jonathan" as he insisted that a Northerner should act as president

http://www.tribune.com.ng/09092008/news/news1.html

5. Alhaji Babachir Lawal,Member Buhari Inauguration Committee

He is the National Vice Chairman (North East) of the APC. He shamelessly condemned the impeachment proceeding against exGov Murtala Nyako that bothers on corruption rather than address the allegation against the exGovernor. In fact he said impeaching Nyako will mean plunging the state into a state of utter despair instead of challenging the exGovernor to respond to the allegations of corruption against him. The Impeached exGovernor has been on the run since the day of his impeachment(to evade justice)

Is that it? These gus can't compare to the career criminals GEj surrounded himself with. Do you know what an inauguration committee does? They arrange all the owambe for the inauguaration. That's it. As long as Buhari does not appoint fraudulent guys as ministers, we are happy. Let them head inconsequential committees...

People barcanista criticized has NOTHING to do with defection but CORRUPTION; a cardinal point of buhari campaign and APC campaign of calumny against Jonathan...But because you're biased, you read with anger and no comprehension due to your prejudice against the person of barcanista...

Attack his message not his person which has NOTHING in common with the topic of this thread...

Of all he criticized, only Silva has a taint of corruption allegation which has not even been proved.

He condemned the others on either being guilty of corruption by association or on credibility. As such, my using his own case as an example is perfectly in order.
What I am basically saying is that will it be in order to say that barcanista is not qualified to hold a political position in future given that his "jump-about' has tainted his credibility? Please answer the question sincerely.

I have given a proper response to his original post. Here it is:
PassingShot:
Firstly, an inauguration committee is a ceremonial committee which does not have any link or connection with the direction the incoming government is headed.

Secondly, of all the names you analysed here, it is only Timpriye Silva that has a taint of corruption on him which is even possible that it was politically motivated. If not, why has he not been brought to justice since 2012? This is even a bigger indictment on Mr. Dunno Clueless from Otuoke.

The grounds on which you "disqualify" the rest is very subjective and should be dismissed with a wave of hands.

Like I've told you on several occasions, save your energy till GMB starts his work. It is his policy direction and how he manages his team that will tell us how to react.

I kmow that the effect of the poll loss is very annoyingly devastating for you and your co travelers but there is unfortunately nothing we can do about it.

APC Govt. Keep saying they will expose corrupt politicians/political leaders, as far as I know 80% of corrupt politicians I know of are now in APC camp, those people that defect from PDP to APC have one or two cases in EFCC so when they are exposing they shouldn't hide any character.

This is why I keep telling you that I prefer barcanista to Passingshot a million times. One knows what barcanista stands for in any camp he is. He supports their rights and criticizes their wrongs hence effectively ensuring growth and progressive development of his camp.

This goes against sheepish and cult followership by Passingshot & co. Who even in the midst of glaring evidence still shamelessly supports ills of their camp which jeopardizes common sense, logic, sanity and progressive group.

Today, Silva's case has metamorphosed to mere "taint" according to you. You suddenly remembered he's not yet convicted by any court. Kindly answer me which of the corruption cases you scream against Jonathan has been proven or substantiated by any court of competent jurisdiction ...Which of the ministers & appointees you hypocritically insult and emotionally blackmail and wish imprison terms here online, has been challenged by any court talk more of conviction

Kawu Baraje had a vote of no confidence passed on him even while still in PDP but it is a positive development for you because he's now APC...

Kingibe betrayed his boss. Blackmailed him and went against their mandate; which shows a man without character, principle, or any sense of justice, morality or uprightness. He was booted out by Yar'adua barely one year after appointment yet it means nothing to you because he's APC... sorry, but you guys are sick upstairs cool ...There are stuff you will rather keep quiet than shamelessly defend tongue

Finally, to your question; it is ONLY a nonentity and ediot that would refuse to change his/her position in the face of SUPERIOR INFORMATION which negates all he/she stood for in the past. Barcanista gave his blood for APC but when he saw through the smokescreen, he moved on. That's a man of courage, principle and strong conviction; who's ready to confront the odds whenever his convictions are trampled upon. He's not a rubber stamp or a man for sheepish followership. Ingratitude to him for his service while in your camp cum blackmailing his person because he moved on is a demonstration of what a devilish and insincere group APC is...

And don't you think 80% of APC strongmen and leadership beginning with your national chairman are PDP folks hence shouldn't hold any office too having defected too hypocrisy is killing you bro tongue

BTW your purported response is skewed and empty hence I have trashed it out in one of my quotes of you cool

Thank You for these words. I never wanted to join this conversation because I wouldn't want to join issues with some pained folks that can't draw the line between patriotism and partisanship, and between followership by conviction and cult-like followership. Indeed, one our politics have really taken shape and the PDP that was once the cancer of the country has shed a super-majority of the cancerous folks to the APC especially between its inglorious Years of 1999 and 2010. I have been reading some of their insults and character assassination, their lies and propaganda against my humble self, it only confirms to me that these people stand not for progressive change nor are democratic. Rather they are all to kick-out the outgoing incumbent and perpetually remain in power by deploying every form of propaganda against real or imaginable critics, as well as controlling views of Nigerians. We have a major challenge in our hands, we can't afford to give in. Very soon Nigerians will get the true picture of things.

grin grin grin grin ...nawa for APC and its blind supporters...
They committed the offence directly not by proxy or any association as you would like to put it bro...

If anybody today is guilty of CORRUPTION by association; then it simply BUHARI. How did he raise his campaign funds shrouded in secrecy...Punch and other APC minions were busy fabricating lies about Jonathan campaign fund while ignoring buhari...hypocrisy is something that will destroy you all tongue

Vote of no confidence is a positive attribute to you...

Blackmail and betrayal for selfish reasons is more like it to you...

Support for corrupt officials is a gain to you today. All because APC guys are the culprits. You need help bro tongue

Even when international organization proved Jonathan presidency less corrupt than in the past; you chose to believe APC propaganda & lies because it favours your myopic stance. Today, you remembered that it is right to allow courts to convict persons before blacklisting them because APC is being hunted by their shadow tongue

Believe me, buhari will get as much support as he gave Jonathan. Unfortunately, this is the law of nature which is incontrovertible. Just see the how subsequent days will unfold...its gonna be fun bro grin grin ... We know he blackmailed rather than support or constructively criticise or offer any reasonable suggestion as former head of state. Between 1983 and 1985, Peter Onu of Nigeria was Acting Secretary-General of the OAU.At the 1985 Summit in Addis Ababa, statesmen like Julius Nyerere, President of
Tanzania, lobbied for his election as substantive Secretary-General. However, there was a major stumbling block to Peter Onu’s candidature: his Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari, was campaigning against him.

In the election of the OAU Secretary-General in 1985, Buhari voted against Nigeria and for Niger instead. He secured the election of Ide Oumarou, a Fulani man from
Niger; as opposed to an Igbo man from Nigeria. By so doing, Buhari became the first and only Head of State in the history of modern international relations to vote against his country in favour of his tribe.
