For decades, fuel scarcity frequently crippled Nigeria.

Jonathan became president and stopped fuel scarcity all the six years he was in office.

Jonathan planned to remove subsidies to fuel so that fuel shall become buy as you can. You said no.

Election time, you voted out Jonathan.

So what do you really want?

You protested your way into one chance, now you voted in Baba one chance....It couldn't get any worse.[/b]
seems GEJ is on a revenge mission, they used the north to sabotage his government right from when he was announced the winner of 2011 elections, seems he too is using electricity n fuel scarcity to sabotage the incoming government before he even hands over. I am beginning to enjoy this cheesy

When will APC get it that their negative utterances too is not helping the matter. Spending every minutes on air or social media to run Jonathan govt down is not helping matter. Everyone has stopped doing business with this government because they don't want to lose all when the new government comes in. All I have heard APC does is to totally paint this government black and paint themselves as people who have answer to all problems and messiah. Now everyone who ought to cooperate with this government are scared, they have withdrawn their operation and all apprehensively look forward to May 29. Everyone who have a legitimate claim wants to get it because they don't know what to expect Buhari. APC should please be positive and assure Nigerians they are not coming to just senselessly throw people into jails. Thats the message people seem to be getting. The problem on ground has gone beyond Jonathan. Only positive body language from APC will solve it.

Betterment:
The All Progressives Congress has said President Goodluck Jonathan is handing over a nation in deep crisis, even as his administration continues to contrive more crises without making any effort to solve any of them.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, the party, , appealed to Nigerians not to lose hope, despite the daunting challenges they are currently facing in this atmosphere of contrived chaos.

It said help is on the way.

“In a few days’ time, President Jonathan will hand over to President-elect Muhammadu Buhari,” the APC said. Never in the history of our country has any government handed over to another a more distressed country: No electricity, no fuel, workers are on strike, billions are owed to state and federal workers, 60 billion dollars are owed in national debt and the economy is virtually grounded.

“Today, Nigerians are roaming the streets, jerry cans in hand, searching for everything from kerosene to fuel to diesel to power their homes, keep their vehicles on the road and keep their businesses going. They are paying as much as 300 Naira per litre for fuel, if at all they can get it. Yet their government is not saying a word about the situation.”

APC said while the Jonathan Administration has “arrogantly” told Nigerians that it remains in office and in power till May 29th, all it has been doing is sacking people and making new appointments as if it had been deprived of the opportunity to do so in the past six years.

“They are not interested in how to end the fuel scarcity that has paralysed the socio-economic lives of Nigerians,” the APC said. “They are not interested in how to raise electricity production from its unprecedentedly-low level of 1,327 megawatts. They are not doing anything to end the strike by blue and white collar oil workers, or to stop the impending one.

“They say they are in office till May 29th, but they do not care how workers in 18 states, who are owed a total of 300 billion Naira in salaries under their watch, or federal workers who are owed N400 billion, will be paid. Yet they are running a budget of N1trillion deficit.

“They have deliberately stopped meeting their obligations to oil marketers, which is now around 200 billion Naira, hence no one is lifting petroleum products anymore. If the current energy crisis is not solved soonest, the telecommunications sector could even be grounded in a matter of days as service providers will have neither electricity nor fuel to power their base stations. Of course the aviation sector has already been left comatose by the fuel crisis. The whole scenario reeks of sabotage.”

APC said before PDP and Jonathan Administration’s spin doctors distort its message, it is important to let Nigerians know that the party (APC) is not engaging in lamentations but simply keeping the citizenry informed of the situation on the ground, with just five days to handover date.

‘If we thought the nation was being well managed and there was no problem, we would not have embarked on a campaign of change,” the party said. “While we are ready, willing and able to begin to address the mammoth challenges facing us as a nation as soon as we assume office at the centre in a few days’ time, we will not hesitate for a second to keep Nigerians informed of how we have been brought to this sorry pass, with a view to avoiding such a tragic turn in the future.”

It expressed sadness that the nation has been on auto pilot for the past several weeks, as the outgoing administration has shown neither the capacity nor the willingness to resolve any of the crises it has contrived and foisted on the nation.

”This is the most vivid manifestation of the old saying that literally translates to a departing office holder defecating on the chair he is vacating,” APC said.

We Nigerians are so predictable!!!We are just currently acting out the script as directed by our almighty Marketers.
The marketers said that they are being owed 200b which includes 131b in subsidy and 69b to take care of Naira depreciation that moved against them.
These Marketers have been pampered so much that they are now blackmailing the Nigerian nation.
Personally I dont believe that there is any subsidy especially since oil lost 50%of its value in the international market.
I am a businessman and i believe that its criminal and immoral to ask us Nigerians to pay you additional cost because the foreign exchange moved against you in your importation business, its the height of arrogance and obvious disdain for fellow Nigerians. Its obvious that this wicked scheme is as a result of fear of marketers that the robbery that they have been carrying out against Nigerians is anout to be exposed hence this deparation to collect all their loot before 29th May2015,if not why the hurry?.If they have legitimate claims the incoming administration will pay them because no matter how magical the administration of Gen Buhari is,he will still need their services for at least the next 120days.
We need to call the bluff of these marketers for the next 5 days or we remain their slaves for a long time.Open your eyes and see whats happening.Their plan is to cripple our movement, cripple our electricity and make it impossible for us to power our generators so that we can pressurise the government to pay them and its already happening here.
The short term solution is to remove the so called subsidy and then open up the importation of fuel to many players as against the cult like ones operated currently by PPRA and this will result in massive importation of products and that way, prices will become competitive
The longterm solution will be building a lot of small capacity refineries inseveral parts of the country so that the prices will come down naturally

Or do you mean groundnut, cocoa, cotton, kolanut, rubber etc revenue? grin grin

Get real man or get lost!!!

I forgot Niger Delta owns the oil because they discovered the oil, brought in investors, liased with IOCs, carried out regional evalution, did the exploration, oil well appraisal, built the refineries, laid the pipelines, created the PTDF, the ECA, the Niger Delta ministry etc.

Heck, both the president and the oil minister is from Niger Delta, even in their worst mood, they can never say its Niger Delta Oil.

You better wake up!

Get real man or get lost!!!

Please what's your take on this issue being discussed?

As much as I'm well aware that it has become a highly nutritious food for the APC to discredit Jonathan, I for one, am not particularly impressed that we have not heard officially from the current administration over the scarcity issues we now face.

Oh wait, Okonjo said they were being blackmailed by the oil marketers.

As much as folks want to direly believe that GEJ is doing all he can to ground Nigeria, I beg to differ in a totally opposite direction.

I mean, what good will it do him to be named a hero of democracy only to ruin it by knowingly and clandestinely throwing Nigeria in such economic and life-threatening chaos....

Something's not adding up somewhere, and for that, I won't demonize him just yet.

The glorified hypocrites on this thread have come out to begin their usual blame game which can be to say the least, so sickening...

There is a root cause of all these, the finance minister has spoken about it.
It is glaring to all of us.
Shouldn't someone start an #OccupyNigeria campaign already?

Last I checked, a similar campaign happened when Jonathan removed subsidy....
I needn't remind the change chanters and indeed, a large section of our populace, the role we played.

Someone said something earlier about the impending subsidy removal by the incoming administration as the reason we are going through this hardship, the young man was shouted down and drowned in his own post.

If I've not walked a person's journey, it is very unlikely to see me judging their story.

That said, I hereby reiterate my gut feeling that it is not Jona's wish to see us going through all this just so that he can get back at APC, if he didn't deem our blood as worth sacrificing for his ambition unlike one incoming president, then surely he doesn't deem our welfare and collective good as a nation (and ultimately our lives) as worth sacrificing, just to score expensive revenge points against the APC.

I stand to be corrected....

Time, time only is our arbiter.

Contrived or not, the APC should be grateful to God that Jonathan, by his failings, is offering them a chance to deregulate the downstream sector of the oil industry without much opposition like he faced. In a few days, they shall be in charge and that is why I expect them to silently offer thanksgiving prayers that they have been offered an ample chance to administer the first bitter pill on Nigerians: removal of fuel subsidy!

Removal of the subsidy is a good motive, but the 1st attempt was ill-timed and despite that Nigeria was debt FREE, even when we were buying at N65, now tell me what happened after 5 yrs, $60bn debt?
