Nice move but what is next after this? Salaries and other recurrent expenditure is never ending and this is the time the nation need to sit and resolve our financial mess once and for all. The era of federal handout to states and local government is long gone... We need a lasting solution because bailout is temporary.. |

Good move But any governor who can't pay salaries should be impeached. These governors can't hire a manager that can't generate profits for their businesses. Why then should we allow them to run our states to the ground. 1 Like |

thinkdip: So he wants to further deplete excess crude account. What were APC changeoid chameleons accusing GEJ of last time? Of depleting excess crude account, giving money to governors? If GMB does exactly what GEJ did, it sai baba, good one BUT GEJ clueless. That states that squandered money on 25 special assistants and cannot think of generating revenue internally should have more billions thrown at them. Is this the fiscal discipline APC promised? Why are people such hypocrites? If by chance PDP won all governorship seats, would GMB release this money? |

What happens next month? States are suffering from a 50% reduction in their allocation because of crude oil prices? This is not a solution, because many states will be back here in 60 days. More spending and increased debt is not going to help. Paying off their past due only to start incurring more debt. |

While this is a welcome development, what has been done to check the financial recklessness of these affected governors? Misuse funds and get a bail out |
Re: Buhari Approves N400bn For Workers’ Salaries by Nobody: 7:21pm On Jul 06, 2015 |
clevadani: Nigerians are not holding their various state governors accountable. The governors are praising PMB now because he is sharing the money as demanded by these state execu-thieves but will later ask him to account for this same money when their friendship gets sore. |

Rilwayne001: Other than that people are going to be paid their salaries, why should anyone be happy over this, that states have to go aborrowing to offset their wage bills. It's rather a very sad news. |

I am sorry for Nigerian workers. How will the governors pay the money back? They will simply tax it all back, siphon some using the ghost worker techniques and kick the can down the road for future generations to put up with. This is how Greece ended up where they are today: borrowing money for public sector spending on recurrent expenses. Yet Greece that doesn't produce jack still pays a minimum wage of 560 Euros a month while in Nigeria it is 75 Euros a month. And people are jubilating. |

Its not about releasing money, but any state that dosent pay or try anything funny. Those involved should be arrested and their bank acct freezed |
