She can apply with her age and also if the nabteb can be verify online like waec result then she can make use of it..

If not, I suggest she sit down for waec Gce for this year and next year she can apply because I haven't seen any USA schools asking for nabteb but waec it neco result

I recently converted my Nigerian drivers license to the US one and having a Nigerian license helps you to skip having a learner's permit first before the actual license if you didn't have your out of country license and you were applying as a fresh driver. I was actually in Virginia yesterday where I bought my new car from a dealership. I obtained mine in Maryland, and Virginia and Maryland being border states I guess the process will be similar. As one who's converting their out of country license, you would first take the 3 hour drug and alcohol class, take the test and pass it. You can take the class online at your convenience and whenever you're ready to take th test, go to the nearest drug and alcohol test center near you and take the test. They charge about $50 or so to take the test but you'll only pay after you've passed the test. You'll be given your certificate valid for 1 year from the date you passed.

Next you go to the nearest MVA near you for the online skills test. You'll need your original SSN card, proof of address here (if you have a bank account, you can print out one of the monthly account statements bearing your address, that should work), proof of lawful status (your I-20, I-94, etc.), proof of identity (your international passport) etc. Make sure you go with all required documents. Also, is your drivers license the original one? As in straight from Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Nigeria that bears the embossed seal of FRSC? If not, it may be rejected because when it gets to your turn the official will check it for originality. So many Nigerians I know that tried to convert theirs got their cards rejected because their licenses were not original. They had to apply as new drivers. However, mine was accepted because it's the original one from FRSC. To prepare for the online test there's a driving manual which usually can be downloaded from online at the MVA's website which you'll need to study for the test. Here in MD, you'd need to get at least 22 questions out of 25 correct to pass. About 50% pass and 50% fail the test at first attempt. After you pass the online skills test, the final step would be scheduling your drivers road test appointment. Right there at the MVA you would schedule a date for the actual road test. There's also walk-in for the road test if you don't wanna book a date but getting tested on any given day you go to the MVA is not assured due long queues of other walk-in candidates.

Any which way, before your drivers road test, be sure to go to a driving school near you to have them brush you up on your driving skills. Driving in the US is totally different from driving in Nigeria. There's a lot that you won't know from driving in Nigeria that applies to driving here and small things like that can make you fail your road test. Some schools charge like $70 for 2 hours and they'll brush you up and prepare you on what to expect on that day and they can also drive you to the MVA on your test day assuming you don't have a car of your own. Note this: driving to the MVA in a driving school's car helps you a lot as it shows your examiner that you have gone through necessary US driving lessons. Or you can have a friend drive you to the MVA with their own car but you must have had someone brush you up on your driving skills for the US. This is very important. Please do not skip this critical aspect of the process. Some schools may be booked up for the entire month but you can always ask them to refer you to any of their drivers personally that could do the same for you. In case you're unable to get a school or driver, let me know and i'll refer you to the driver that prepared me for my road test. The guy is extremely good.

After you pass your road test, then you can pay for your drivers license back at the MVA and it is usually processed immediately right there and given to you. Or if it's going to be mailed to you, they give you a temporary one to use. Congratulations on getting your drivers license! Remember, driving in the US is a privilege not a right.

I passed all my tests at first attempt starting from the 3 hour drug and alcohol test to the online test to the road test. They are not hard once you prepare for them.

Safe driving in the US. Don't drink and drive! Watch out for those crazy drivers and make sure you get your car insurance with full coverage, not liability only, for a new driver to the US especially for your first 6 months of driving here.

I just confirmed at https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/drivers/#eligibility.asp, scroll down to New Residents. The process for MD I just outlined above is the same for VA, except for the 3 hour drug and alcohol test part. Looks like you don't need it for a VA license, just go straight to the MVA/DMV. Let me know if you have any questions. Goodluck buddy.
Hi bro, Is it a crime to drive in the states with a Nigerian or Korean drivers licence?

Because in Korea, you need to get Korean drivers license b4 you drive

I want to ask few questions.
1. You do mentioned of monthly phone subscription. Do they give unlimited data and calls to both local and international numbers.
2. What can you say about Victoria, Texas and Florida because I applied to several universities for my undergraduate degree in computer science at university of Houston, Victoria. And am awaiting their admission response.
3. Which city in US is a high tech hub aside California and schools in Silicon Valley
4. What are my chances of succeeding as an inventor like facebook's Mark Zuckerberg considering the fact that I am not a permanent resident nor citizen. Do they support international students in the area of invention and startup.
5. What general advice would you give me considering my aspirations

1) Depending on the network provider and the plan you're subscribed to. Usually most phone plans come with unlimited calling and texting to US numbers and maybe to Canada also. Some may also give you some minutes, say 45 minutes, of free international calling to Nigeria. If you call Nigeria very frequently, then you would need to buy international call cards such as Boss Revolution where you get 2hrs and 15 minutes for $5. Depending on the plan ($19, $29 etc.) you could get 500MB of data, 1GB or unlimited data. I currently use Ultra Mobile for $29 every month and I get unlimited calling and texting to US and Canadian numbers, and 500GB of data (I do not really use my phone data that much because I have Wi-Fi at home and there's fast Wi-Fi on campus for when I was going to school), and 45 minutes of call time to Nigeria. Good thing is after I exhausted my 45 minutes of call time to Nigeria, my provider gave me an extra 2 hours again which I am still using.

2) Texas is generally a good state to school in and I recommend Texas but I can't say the same for Florida. A few of my friends who originally attended a semester or two in Florida have transferred out of the state to somewhere cheaper (both went to Texas). For one, Florida can be expensive to live in and their tuition rates are quite high. Second, Florida is mostly a retirement spot/area for the rich people in America where they go to live out their retirement years, thus properties there are expensive. With that said, there are not that many job opportunities in the state for students after graduation. Thus, I would pursue my Texas admission fervently.

3) The Greater Washington DC area (i.e. the states of Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC proper, also called the DMV area) is the next technical hub of the US after California. There are so many IT companies and jobs around here for IT specialists.

4) America does give you opportunities to achieve whatever you want to achieve. There is always a way to go about achieving what you want. Not being a permanent resident does NOT bar you from starting a company in the US. This is because you are creating jobs for the economy which is what the US government wants! Also if you invest up to $500,000 or $1,000,000 depending on which and where, you are eligible to obtain your green card through that category. Infact, the US government actively encourages foreign investment in the country and you do not need to be a resident nor citizen to set up a business in this country. Some schools often have business preparatory incubators that coach you in successfully establishing a business in the country especially at the start up stage and the necessary tools that you would need for success. My school does have one. Also there are tons of business mentors, individual and company, out there willing to help you succeed in your business venture.

5) I am a huge supporter of one following one's dreams. If you are dreams are too big that it scares you then you are in the right direction. Sometimes it is only you that is able to envision your dreams and it is difficult for others around us to imagine our dreams when you tell them about it. There are people you tell of your dreams and all they can see are ways by which you'll fail and there are those you tell of your dreams and they suggest one or two ways by which you can get there. Some people will tell you immediately, 'you can't do it. This life is hard', not necessarily because you can't do it but because they can't imagine doing it themselves, and some will tell you, 'yes you can do it and here's how'. It all depends on the individual. Be mindful of who you reveal your dreams to. Surround yourself with like minded persons that will help you get to where you want to do it. Success is yours. Cheers.

For the US it depends on the state. In Maryland, for example, you are legally allowed to drive with your international driver's license for up to 1 year but not all police officers are aware of this. In MD, you have up to 1 year to drive with your license after which you need to get a MD license. There are some police officers that may give you a ticket for 'not driving with a US license' when you are legally allowed to within 1 year of getting here. That is for Maryland. You definitely want to check with the driving rules of the state you are in or intend going to.

Thanks a lot. I appreciate. Another question I would like to ask is, is West Virginia different from West Virginia and what is Texas known just as California is known for high tech and entertainment in respect to Silicon Valley and Los Angeles. I do hope to transfer to Harvard University after a semester. What are my chances of getting admitted because I researched their site and found out there is funding for international students who can't afford the fee. Can my essay and interview do the magic because I never attended an international school like lekki British school nor corona. Truly that's my dream school.
