Military authorities should adopt a more friendly approach to destroying seized crude and tools because their burning operations pollute the environment. Custom Service authority should either auction or incinerate confiscated frozen foods instead open air burning. Let us stop destroying our environment.

You can not steal what naturally belongs to you. I have 14 oil wells at my backyard, and I have no clean water, no land to farm and the roof rust per second. These are caused by the black goal which naturally belongs to me. Yet, I am not allowed to fetch the oil that comes from my land ?

People need to understand that in the marshland, no one drills for the oil, but the oil floats naturally on the muddy waters, so I am not allowed to fetch, cook and filter and sell ? So that I can afford to buy fish and garri which I need to cook and eat.

I do not understand why the North and the West and the East and all other places that are enjoying every natural thing from the soil, have the rights to enjoy their God-given natural soil ingredients, yet I am not allowed to touch mine. If the Federal Government said they spent money to drill the oil. What about the one that floats freely on the mud ? Why is it a crime for a poor man to fetch it, cook it and sell it ?

May the Natural God of our forefathers, punish the Federal Government, who has provided nothing for the Niger Deltans and yet takes away of our natural gifts of resources.

Amen!

I can relate to this post. Especially the part of crude flowing in the marshes. But sadly it is illegal.

I understand your frustration though. I've seen people living near springs make money by fetching, distilling and packaging it into sachet and bottle water. Same goes for gold mining, people even fall trees in their backyards to make or sell firewood, or tapping rubber or palm oil etc. There are many scenarios in Nigeria where Nigerians make their living off natural resources found in their land, but in the case of oil, its illegal.

I've seen crude in all its thickness flowing, but because it is illegal, despite being on your land, you can not fetch it. The most you can get is a settlement from any of the multinational companies or government to get the land off you and make it into a 'legal venture'.

Yea and NAFDAC are there to curb and close any illegal bottle or sachet water producing company or whatever they call it, so as you can see there is no honor in illegal business no matter how you try to make it look
They should also grant the illegal refineries operators licenses to become legal.

what's their business with what happens in our land?

They use their groundnut money on themselves, then try to tell us how we should do with our oil..

Why can't he make the refineries legal and let the boys employ themselves..

But no, he doesn't want to see that happen...Even the ogoni cleanup is still on paper..This man doesn't mean well for south south..

Anyway, he should enjoy it while it lasts...

When we are ready for him, he will know that an abo.ki is fit just for cattle rearing and nothing else...

Encourage them to do it better! they have passion for investment but little capital. Oil in their land. Lots of people making millions off their soil and you expect them to just sit and watch. Lets apply some sense. Encourage them. Legalise them by encouraging them to get the right document to operate and ways to doing the business rightly without affecting the environment. In Texas, ISA, its not the government processing oil its individuals under the umbrella of company. After all a farmer doesn't even need licence to operate in Nigeria while in other countries they do. If you can encourage a farmer or cattle rarer why not them. I see this as injustice!. Better still get them licenced and school them on ways to do the business rightly. Its on their soil and they should feed from it also...
