5 reasons north has poor IGR... After being in power for 3 decades..its quite obvious 1. They are parasites 2. They are aggresive parasites 3. They are unrepentant parasites 4. They are eternal parasites 5. They are genetically parasites During elections.. They will remember dat kano is more than lagos.. Now kano competes with Ebonyi with IGR.. Nonsense 6 Likes |

The are simply performing poorly because of the easy money from the Niger delta Oil flow. Thats why APC is desperate to control the key OIL producing states of Rivers, Delta and Akwa Ibom using the tribunals to annul elections they lost. The average Northerner is not used to paying tax and their leaders dont want to pressure them either. 2 Likes |

Many southern states perform poorly too.Firstly you have to define objective measures of "Performance" before making sweeping generalizations. There is this tendency in the south to look for "evidence" which confirms their prejudice and ignore anything contradictory whether in the area of population, literacy, development or contribution to commonwealth and so those who are motivated to enter this thread are those who are not interested in genuine examination of reality but reinforcemnt of preconceived prejudices. Kwara state,Kaduna State,Kano state,Kogi State are all northern states with relatively decent IGR figures. Not all states have the same population or other relevant variables and so for any comparison to be "rational" there must be a basis for comparison not just the absolute quantum of revenue. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Awareness is increasing. Good!!! "The most crude oil blocks in southern Nigeria were moronically ceded to northerners and any slightest perception to change the balance must meet unforeseen opposition from northern elders and shakers. As in the case of GEJ, the perception was as good as one can get hence to make Nigeria ungovernable, the born of Boko Haram and other riots in northern region of Nigeria were acceptable political tools. Most people from southern Nigeria are irreparable goons who have labored to retain the British blunder called Nigeria. If the crude oil were to be located in northern region of Nigerian instead of southern Nigeria, the British blunder called Nigeria would have been a history subject taught in Elementary Schools, the north would have been Islamic state and shall remain out of bound for none Muslims" 7 Likes |

the only thing wrong with the north is that the north is too hostile, because of this there religion something, if they don't kill u for election/political excuse, there is a very high chance that you would be killed for religious excuse. 1 Like |

Your points are valid, but the biggest factor is underdeveloped private sector. Most of the northern states have nothing outside government jobs. I'm however surprised at Kano and Kaduna, with many companies, banks etc having regional offices there and having decent economy. |

The causes are: They are brain washed to believe poverty is from God. Their elites need to remain poor so there will be few rich people to share their resources. They have rejected education. No need, listing them sef! They are just morons even in this century #spits# |

U said the best capitalist? More like a state/country capitalist.....he is mere rent seeker. Feding on govt favour or contract. Check all the arab billionaires...its difficult to find one without a state connection in one way or the other! quote author=omowolewa post=39373426]The beauty of it is that Northern states can still bounce back if they can leverage on Agriculture. The best capitalist we have in Nigeria is a Northerner mind you. Rise in IGR doesn't necessarily mean a rise in standard of living, unemployment level or purchasing power of the citizen. What is necessary here is to look at every other standards to measuring if Northern governors needs to go back to the drawing board. Lets take for instance, Nasarawa which is closer to Abuja should have leveraged on that to improve its IGR. When the North is ready to leave the 'ranka-dey-dey' way of life, bull-shit the National cake, take their destiny into their hands then you will see the improvements. You made a nice observation.[/quote] |

godwinkessi: Martins301 is right. 40 decades is 400 years.. Reason?? Coz 1 decade = 10 years. Take note Meanwhile, I see people bringing in religious and tribal sentiments here. Like I always say 'You don't have to believe in your Government to be a good Nigerian. You just have to believe in your country. Bleep this tribalism shit'. God save us all either as a united nation or not.. Our ignorance is killing us, we never borrowed a cue from our founding fathers... 2 Likes |
