There is one crooked group that is determined to maintain and retain the act of fleecing Nigeria of her common wealth, this group is the Corrupt Elite aka the Cabals. This group of people inherited their 'Cabalism' from their predecessors who they packaged as 'heroes of Nigeria' to ignorant masses. This group has been in Nigeria since 1960, and are determined to pass it on to their offsprings and proteges in same way they inherited it from their own 'masters'. These men and women has successfully hijacked "Project Buhari 2015" just as they did "Project Yar'adua 2007" and "Project Jonathan 2011".

Pre-Project Olusegun Obasanjo:
The annulment of the June 12, 1993 Presidential election and the eventual Abacha coup provided opportunity for progressive Nigerians under the umbrella of National Democratic Coalition(NADECO) to come together with a sole demand that maximum dictator Sani Abacha steps down from office as the illegitimate Head of State and handover power to the acclaimed winner of the election and 'President-elect' Chief Moshood Kashimawo Abiola aka MKO Abiola.

Sensing that the demand for return to democracy was at its peak, Abacha announced on October 1st, 1997 to return democracy in October 1998. Not to MKO Abiola but to Abacha himself with the scheme of the cabals. All FIVE registered political parties adopted Sani Abacha as their Sole Presidential candidate for August 1, 1994 Presidential election. The parties are United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP), Grassroot Democratic Movement(GDM), National Center Party of Nigeria(NCPN), Democratic Party of Nigeria(DPN), and Congress for National Consencus(CNC). Of all FIVE parties, the UNCP was the defacto Abacha party. Who were the prominent people in UNCP? They are:

Isa Mohammed (National Chairman), he went on to serve as Senator for Niger Central from 1999-2007 under PDP; Ikemba Odimegun Emeka Ojukwu(yes, the same Ojukwu of APGA); Ibrahim Mantu(Publicity Secretary) the same Mantu that later became Senator(1999-2007) and Deputy Senate President under PDP; Ali Modu Sheriff(National Treasurer), the same Sheriff that was Governor of Borno under ANPP(2003-2011); and Bode Olajumoke (Nat Vice Chairman), he became Senator under PDP(2003-2011); Emmanuel Iwanyawu, who pitched tent with PDP.

Other prominent Pro-Abacha Presidency were late Abubakar Olusola Saraki(the father of Bukola Saraki who pitched tent with ANPP and later PDP in 2003); Abacha's foreign minister Tom Ikimi(who pitched his tent with ANPP/APC until 2014 when he moved to PDP); Gen Buba Marwa(who now masqurade as change agent); Atiku Bagudu(Former Senator under PDP and now Governor of Kebbi under APC); Lamidi Adedibu(late strongman of Ibadan politics and PDP Chieftain); Chief Tony Anenih(fmr Works minister under Obasanjo and exBoT Chairman of PDP); Arthur Nzeribe(Senator under PDP until 2007) etc The list is endless...

Worthy of note is the coordinator of Youth Earnestly Ask for Abacha, Mr Daniel Kanu who pitched tent with PDP, APGA and now a member of APC, he's also SA to Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state.

Project Olusegun Obasanjo 1998/9
After the death of maximum dictator Sani Abacha in June 1998, Abdulsalam Abubakar dissolves all five political parties, but the exercise was mere change of name. Abacha's men infilterated the PDP, APP and AD.

The PDP that was conceived by pro-democratic PDM led by Shehu Yar'adua and G34 led by Alex Ekweme was COMPLETELY hijacked by the cabals and their military boys to pave way for Obasanjo as their candidate for 1999 election. The Nzeribes, Adedibus, Atiku Bagudu, Anenih, IBB etc found solace in PDP.

For the APP(later ANPP) it was Ali Modu Sheriff, Tom Ikimi, Ojukwu etc that held sway.

The AD refused itself to be taken over by any cabal. They presented candidates that participated in the struggle for offices and jointly/with APP presented Olu Falae for President in 1998. They 'collaboed' with the Atiku group to form AC, later ACN and again with the full backing of the cabals from PDP(nPDP) and ANPP, they formed the APC(in 2013).

The cabals in 1999 successfully installed Obasanjo and consolidated their hold in power under "PDP".

Project Musa Yar'adua 2007:
Of course Nigerians were dissatisfied with the state of things between 1999 and 2007 of Obasanjo's PDP Presidency. The cabals packaged Musa Yar'adua/Goodluck Jonathan, two fine gentlemen with no historic antecedents. They bankrolled them and brought them to office through a flawed process. But their administration was to favor the cabals at the masses expense. When Yar'adua went on vegetable state the cabals took full control of state of affairs and even prevented Jonathan's succession. The masses wanted them out to pave way for a gentle Jonathan, who many saw as FRESH AIR...

Project Goodluck Jonathan 2010/11:
In 2010 the cabals never wanted Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari(his ANPP had earlier sabotaged him in 2007). GEJ was seen as an 'outsider', while Buhari was seen as an anti-cabal element. However, because Nigerian masses wanted a 'Fresh Air', the cabals capitalised on it and queued behind Jonathan. Jonathan on his own wanted to serve two masters by pleasing two conflicting interests; the cabals and the masses. For instance, he complained that the cabals were cashing on the subsidy arrangement(which is treasonable) but REFUSED to thoroughly prosecute ANY of them. Most PAINFUL was the fact that Jonathan honoured Abacha, IBB and others as "Heroes of Nigeria". Jonathan's bid for second term was seen as unfavorable to the CABALS, and they(cabals) jumped ship to APC after 'helping' GEJ destroy his government and the PDP acronym.

Project Muhammadu Buhari 2015:
Again, they saw that Nigerians were 'tired' of successive PDP administrations (which they were active players), they moved base to APC and Buhari, who many saw as the incorruptible and sincere General that has zero-tolerance for anything corruption. Just like his predecessors, Buhari has technically dished what he once stood for to please those that 'Brought him to power'. Appointing same people into position of authority and moving around with these worthy allies that helped brought "PDP" down. None of his promise to Nigerians has been fulfilled even after SIX months in office. Again Nigerians are wondering whether they made mistake on March 28. Though a huge disappintment, Buhari still has the luxury of three and half years to put things right.

Their Modus Operandi:
Their modus has always been to nominate candidates for appointments and push their proteges to the National Assembly as a form of "check-mating" the President who they brought to power. They have their boys in States Government Houses to safeguard their home front and also in States Houses of Assembly to put their boy-Governor in check. The media hail them as people with "Heavy Financial War-chest". In party politics, they are firmly in control in any party they choose to align with. They employ ethnic/religious sentiment to whip Nigerians on their own line. Make no mistake, a reminant of these cabals are still in PDP and other prominent parties.

We Have To Act As A People
For us as a people to beat them to their game and install a proper democratic society that will favor all of us, we MUST define what we want and support credible FRESH people to aspire for offices irrespective of political affiliation, instead of recycling FAILED politicians. When they(cabals) see that Nigerians are more interested in the affairs of Nigeria, they will gradually move into extinction. If we don't put them where they belong, they will continue to recycle our problems.

May God Bless Us All

Not true....

As much it feels like things are not moving in the right direction with respect to the Nigerian/Buhari Project, 6 months is too early to conclude on the direction of the present administration. Consider the fact that the previous government's policies needed to be reviewed, as well as the previous contracts which were awarded to people with vested interests.

May I remind you that the GEJ led government justified his election on the premise that he needed a second term to make considerable progress, despite the fact that he had approximately 6 years. The current administration has not asked for two terms, neither have they resigned to fate in the delivery of governance, we are only making baseless speculations with an undertone of biased allegiance, which when closely observed smacks of a deliberate attempt to malign the FG without recourse to fairness.

There's a reason why the word "mid-term" is coined in first place, why don't we wait until mid-term before making conclusions, rather than jumping the gun after six months. even if the aim is to hound the government into submission, 6 months is too early to build a fool-proof case against the Buhari led federal government, and by acting this way could be counterproductive for the opposition. Because, they would have shown their cards too early in the game. The same schoolboy error made by Gov Wike's camp in the Rivers state case, where he was basing the acceptability of his elections on that of the state legislators, which was consequently checkmated through the nullification of their elections too.

My submission is based on the article.

You alluded to the fact that:
None of his promise to Nigerians has been fulfilled even after SIX months in office. Again Nigerians are wondering whether they made mistake on March 28. Though a huge disappintment, Buhari still has the luxury of three and half years to put things right.

Hence my initial response.

The key players in this write up referred to in this case as the "Cabals" are unfortunately a necessary evil that we might have to live with until our institutions are weaned totally of partisanship and corruption. Because how else do you explain the show of shame currently going on in the case of the senate president at the CCT.

Most of these people have their hands deep in corruption and can bring the country to a halt if not carefully handled. This has often been attributed to Sun Tzu and sometimes to Niccolò Machiavelli or Petrarch, but there are no published sources yet found which predate its use by "Michael Corleone"
- keep your friends close but your enemies closer.

The FG has been in the control of these people since time immemorial, and anybody irrespective of party affiliations who wants to make an appreciable impact in governance at the federal level needs to keep them close, to have any form of control over them.

Take the key players in the APC for example, most of them have not had a total access to the FG controlled institutions, because they've always been in opposition. The implication of this is that, it is near impossible to cut ties with these powerful individuals without applying tact. This also meant that they (the APC) lack the wherewithal to deal with some key issues at the federal level, all thanks to the partisanship of our security institutions. It just like marmite "you either learn to love it or learn to hate it".

Thanks for this. The painful aspect is that the people that were in support of the Abacha became the ones that pocketed our democracy and still the people in the corridors of power. They use different names and party. On the other hand, those that spoke for democracy and fought for it were never recognised. Olusola Saraki(Saraki's father) was a key pro-Abacha. This is what he said in 1998...
... Abacha is a pleasant fellow, humble and respectful... if he contests, 1 will give him my support because we need somebody of honour and dignity, intelligence, somebody with enormous experience that can steer the ship of the country to success for president.’

He was made to appear as a "hero". While Sunday Mbang former CAN President that played active role and even risjed his life was pushed away. Hear Mbang...
I don’t believe in (the transition programme). It is full of inconsistencies... I don’t care if I am arrested for saying the truth. I don’t believe in the transition programme because there seems to be a hidden agenda.

Shekh Nurudeen Ajani Bello, a Chief Imam in one Ansar-udeen Mosque in Kano refused to pray for Abacha soul. See his reason...
Why should we pray over Abacha’s dead body and the repose of his soul? Was he a Muslim when he was alive? Abacha was a satan sent to punish us.

The same group of people and their proteges are now in Camp Buhari.

There is no Cabal that can be like PDP cabals. We shld b glad we even have a running government. With average price of oil at 108 USD a barrel during jona's time Nigeria had 70 recurrent expenditure so at ~50 USD a barrel you tell us how this admin shld embark on what jona couldn't. For the people not to be on the street now is an achievement on its own. PDP was planning to increase VAT, stop Amnesty and remove subsidy.

Bros, this your argument hold No Merit. It is very flawed. This same thinking of "you can't offend them" was what GEJ(and some supporters) had end eventually we saw the outcome. The crux of the matter is that there exist two conflicting interests; the Cabals and the Masses. You can't please both! You MUST please one and displease the other. Today, we have Buhari appointing same group of people and even defending them. Buhari of old won't tolerate corrruption, hence the elite hated him. But same man, the elite brought to power. What positive step have he taken since May 29? Six months already gone!

He has 3 and half years to retrace his step or he will end up like those before him.

The OP, the chief wailing wailer, is a typical example of "akasoleri." In the past, among the Yoruba, were a people called akasoleri who moved with cloths on their heads. Their stock in trade was moving about, looking for where people were mourning. They joined those crying and at the end of the day they got paid.

The OP is mourning for Buhari and APC even when the Presidency is not mourning. "Oku n sukun oku, akasoleri n sukun ara won."
