Tottenham considering £8m raid to sign Nigerian wonderkid from London neighbours
Posted by EPL Guru May 9, 2016

According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing 18-year-old forward Ademola Lookman.

The Express report that Spurs are primed to make an £8 million bid to sign the Nigerian wonderkid from the South Londoners.

The tabloid proceed to note that the teenage frontman is one of the most highly rated players outside the Premier League, although the Addicks face a battle on their hands to keep hold of the youngsters.

Charlton dropped down to the third tier of English football after being relegated from the Championship this season, and with their reduced revenue, it remains to be seen whether the Londonders—who lost manager Jose Riga at the season’s end—would be able to refuse such a hefty bid from Spurs.

Wandsworth-born Lookman, who is of Nigerian origin, has been a rare ray of light for Charlton this season, having scored five goals and contributed one assist in 24 Championship outings.

Able to play on the left flank as well as as a central striker, Lookman could well be encouraged by the recent progress of a series of young talents at White Hart Lane should Spurs make a formal offer for his services.

The likes of Harry Kane, Eric Dier and Dele Alli have all become stars at a relatively young age in recent seasons, and Lookman may just have the talent to follow in their footsteps.

That is not true. Manu fumbled period. What and where did the home boys take us to. We should not use excuses like this to cover Manu's shame please. Was Nigeria the only country that feature foreign based players?

We need the best in our U20. And all the stated names can do a good job for us. Most of them will displace some of the players in camp if they continue with their current form. Forgiveness, Dominic Solanke is not on this list gringrin

This na another hot debate oo. we need to test them in competitive match situation before drawing conclusion. All are good to go for now.

All I can say now is that Osimhen has been tested while Sadiq has not been tested in the green white green.

Fulham Starlet Tayo Edun Called Up To England Squad

England Under-18s coach Neil Dewsnip has named an 18-player roster for two friendlies against South Korea at the Icheon City Stadium in June.

The Fulham starlet Tayo Edun is one of the five midfielders that made the squad list for the games that will be staged near Seoul.

He would have represented the England U17s squad at the 2015 Fifa Under 17 World Cup but was forced to withdraw from the squad after picking up a groin injury.

Born in London on May 14, 1998, Edun offers great versatility as he can play as a modern day full-back and a winger.

England will square off against South Korea on June 3rd before facing the same opponents two days later.

Coach of Nigeria’s U-20 Men’s football team, Emmanuel Amuneke has said the foreign based players invited to the team must adjust to the conditions of camping but insists much of the work has been with the quality available.

Nigeria is preparing for the first leg of the 2017 Afcon U-20 qualifier against Burundi and the coach stressed he has been working with a few foreign players while more are expected in much later.

The Flying Eagles coach mentioned that two more players will join the team but he remains committed to giving opportunities only to players who will add value to his current squad.

End of season is near, so soon foreign based players would be available. All we need is the best of our players at this age grade level whether locally based or foreign based, Nigerian born or Europe born.

And please don't apply favoritism to your team selection by giving preference to your 2015 U17 boys. We need the best available players conditionally or unconditionally.

Porto give chance to another Nigerian

Chidera Ezeh already at Porto

Top Portuguese club FC Porto are to run the rule over Nasarawa United defender Ifeanyi Nweke this summer, the player's agent informed AfricanFootball.com

Nweke impressed Porto scouts during a talent discovery program held in Abuja a couple of months ago, and the Portuguese club have since invited him to train with them with a view to agreeing a deal.

He is expected to travel to Portugal in July, when he will train with the Porto squad ahead of the 2016/17 Portuguese season and will sign a deal if he impressed.

The 18-year-old is naturally a center-back, but has been playing as a right-back for Nasarawa United in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

He was a member of the Nigerian U20 set of 2015, but missed out on both the 2015 U20 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup.

If he eventually signed, he will be the third Nigerian player at Porto, with Chidera Ezeh and Chidozie Awaziem already with the former European champions.

Heartbreak For Emmanuel Adebowale As Sheffield United Lose On Penalties In Play-Off Final

Charlton Athletic U18s won the Professional Development League 2 on Monday night after beating Sheffield United 4-3 on penalties at the Valley.

With the Blades leading 1-0, defender Emmanuel Adebowale was thrown into the fray in the 76th minute but he could not prevent Ahearne-Grant from equalizing two minutes before the end of regulation time.

The Addicks would have gone ahead in the second period of extra time when Adebowale hit a clearance into the side-netting after an overlapping run from Alfie Doughty.

Sheffield United lost two of their spot kicks while all the other penalties were converted, and the Stratford-born center half did not take part in the shootout.

Adebowale was with West Ham United before signing a scholarship deal with Sheffield United in May 2014.

Nigerian talents Jacob Njoku, Chidera Ejike, Suleiman Muhammad and Charles Ezeh ended their trials with English Premier League side Liverpool on Sunday, May 8, and will discover in the coming weeks if they will be offered contracts.

According to Jos-based intermediary Babawo Mohammed, ex-Porto youth-teamer Jacob Njoku and Gee Lec Football Academy winger Suleiman Muhammad caught his eye during a test game but a decision on whether or not the players will be offered deals has not been made.

“They finished the trials this Sunday, Liverpool will have to go through the report before deciding whether to sign them,”said Babawo Mohammed to allnigeriasoccer.com.

“I watched one of their trial games, they all did well, most especially Suleiman and Njoku. They will return to Nigeria next week.”

If eventually they are offered contracts, the youngsters will join the likes of Sheyi Ojo, Jordon Ibe, Tiago Ilori and Ovie Ejaria, who all have Nigerian descent, on the books of the Reds.

Man City Defender Tosin Adarabioyo Proud To Make Debut Against Chelsea

Manchester City defender Tosin Adarabioyo has reflected on his debut against Chelsea in the FA Cup back in February, saying it has been his proudest moment in a City shirt.

The England youth international was named Man of the Match by the City fans after the game at Stamford Bridge even though the defense leaked five goals, with coach Manuel Pellegrini resting several first-teamers ahead of the Champions League tie with Dynamo Kiev.

“I played a game with the first-team and that was an amazing experience to make my debut against the champions – I’m really proud, ” Tosin Adarabioyo told City’s official website, mcfc.co.uk.

“It was a bad result but it was good to hear their support after the game.”

Tosin Adarabioyo made the 18-man squad for games against Juventus and Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Champions League but failed to come off the bench.

Flying Eagles Jet Out To Burundi Next Wednesday Aboard Ethiopian Airlines; Calabar To Host Return Leg

Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that the Flying Eagles will tackle the Burundi U20s at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar in the return leg of their Africa U20 Cup of Nations qualifier.

The Nigeria Football Federation initially wanted the game to be staged at the National Stadium in Abuja but later had a change of mind, and has contacted the Cross Rivers State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Asu Okan, to start preparations to receive the team on their return from Burundi.

The Nigeria U20s delegation will fly to Burundi on Wednesday, May 18th aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight, three days before the contest against Burundi.

Upon their return to the country, the team are likely to spend two or three days in Abuja before heading to Calabar.

The Flying Eagles are the defending champions of the Africa U20 Cup of Nations after beating Senegal in the 2015 final.

Nigeria U20s Coach Will Not Call Up New Players Ahead Burundi Clash; List Of 18 Players Sent To CAF

The Flying Eagles will meet Nigeria National League side Kaduna United on Wednesday afternoon as part of their build-up for the Africa U20 Cup of Nations qualifiers against Burundi, with the game scheduled to start at 1600 hours at the Fifa Goal Project in Abuja.

Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that a list of 18 players, that is the eleven youngsters that will start the game against the East Africans and seven subs, has been submitted to the Confederation of African Football.

Thus, suggestions in the media that coach Emmanuel Amuneke will call up two more players to join the squad before the qualifiers against Burundi are incorrect.

The former Zamalek and Barcelona winger had already invited defender Lukman Zakari and planned to call up an unnamed player based in the Italian Serie B after he was recommended by his scouting team but later jettisoned the idea.

Burundi will host Nigeria in the first leg of the second round 2017 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday, May 21.

When ever I see this Kelechi Nwakali, I see a legend in the making. His performance against Mali at last U17 final can't just go off my mind. Men.. the way he dispossessed the opposition and initiated counter attacks. Midfielders like that only come to Nigeria once in a decade.

I rate Nwakali higher than all our current midfielders, Iheanacho,a great player but he need to start practicing how to score free kicks to be among the elites players, I can't wait to see when these 2 KKs will lead our new golden generations, one attacking weapon and one midfield general

Spot on bro. Recall I said players with such abilities come around once in a decade: Okocha came around in the 1990s, Mikel came around in 2000s and K.Nwakali has come around in 2010s.

I am usually conservative when rating young players. I didn't even rate Iheanacho this highly but this K. Nwakali is such an exceptional player.
In him Nigeria and Arsenal have a great asset.

Wolfsburg Trainee Osimhen Finishes Off Brilliant Team Move As Nigeria U20s Beat Kaduna Utd

The Flying Eagles defeated Nigeria National League side Kaduna United 1-0 in a scrimmage held at the Fifa Goal Project in Abuja on Wednesday evening.

It appeared the two teams will go into the interval level but Wolfsburg trainee Victor Osimhen came to the rescue of the Nigeria U20s.

On 40 minutes, skipper Kelechi Nwakali sent a through ball to Orji Okonkwo, whose pass to Osimhen split the Kaduna United defense and the Fifa U17s Golden Boot winner bit the offside trap before slotting the ball past the goalkeeper.

In the second half, the Flying Eagles dominated possession but could not convert their chances, with Nwakali and Kingsley Michael narrowly failing to extend the lead.

The Emmanuel Amuneke-led side beat Katsina United 3-1 in their last game before today’s meeting with Kaduna United.

Osimhen, Bamgboye Score As Flying Eagles Come From A Goal Down To Beat Nigeria U23s

The Flying Eagles continued preparations for their Africa U20 Cup of Nations qualifiers against Burundi with an impressive 2-1 victory against the Dream Team VI on Thursday.

Samson Siasia’s side took the lead in the 22nd minute when Daniel Etor’s freekick needed a deflection before sailing into the net, but the goal has been awarded to the Enyimba striker.

The Nigeria U23s were pegged back ten minutes later by Funsho Bamgboye, who received a pass from Wolfsburg trainee Osimhen before tapping home from close range.

On 65 minutes, the Flying Eagles launched one of their trademark counterattacks. John Lazarus’ whipped ball towards the Dream Team’s goal found Victor Osimhen, who slotted home from six yards.

The Nigeria delegation to Bujumbura will depart Abuja on Wednesday, May 18 aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight.

Victor Osimhen To Undergo Scan After Picking Up Shoulder Injury

Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Flying Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been scheduled to undergo a scan on Thursday night after picking up what appears to be shoulder injury during the second half of the 2-1 win over the Nigeria U23s.

As at the time of this report, the Wolfsburg trainee was having dinner with his teammates, and will take a bath before his appointment with the medics.

The test results will only be known as from tomorrow, Friday, but in the meantime officials have insisted that the attacker will be patched up for next weekend’s game against Burundi, stating that he was treated immediately after the injury occurred.

Osimhen will not take part in the squad’s recovery session on Friday evening and won’t train on Saturday.

The 17-year-old can only be reassessed on Monday morning as Sunday is non-training day for the Nigeria U20s.
