don't mind this op ooh! if you really wanna give thanks to God, let it be from your heart. if you think it's not right then follow your heart. whatever way 'a prophet ' deceives people, it's none of my business cos I know God is watching. He is the God of Justice. 1 Like |

It is no longer news that these churches are only business enterprises ran by charlatans exploiting the ignorance of the gullibly religious masses. 3 Likes |

One brother Hillary threaten me last year that if i don't pay tithe to him his god will get angry(not knowing am an atheist), i was so enraged in anger that i travel from ibadan to onitsha to ask him to say it to my face. Am going to say this slowly.... Religion exist when a con man meet gullible people who swallowed his lies, without asking question, they even help him propagate it. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Weeee: It's nt new. Tho it's highly pathetic to see some acclaimed men of God do terrible things in church to take advantage of gullible member. I once attend a church in Ogun state around ewekore. D pastor always ask member to line up with their offerings. Ranging from #5000 a single row, #2000 a single row, #1000 single row. I had over #10000 but it sound stupid and uncalled for to stand and intimidate other members that have less amount. God forgive us all. I say. END TIME CHURCH. 2 Likes |

missyadorable:Not all churches are like that. You should find a good one close to you and fellowship with other believers so that you can be strengthened and also strengthen others. I had a similar challenge when I was working in Lagos. I eventually stopped going to church and was doing my Bible study at home. But when I got to Abuja I made sure to look for an assembly without all this deceit and I found one. There is really no perfect assembly but at least one without these financial heresies but with sound doctrine will do just fine. God will help you please don't be discouraged. 3 Likes |

mrDennis: Thanks so much. You asked if I believed in charms and babalowos and if I do I should believe in God. If you go back to my post you should know that what I don't believe in is that God as portrayed by religious books cannot be the God that created the universe. God as portrayed by religious books is a partial vengeful god who choses who will live and who will die. Who will be poor and who will be rich. A god that will command Samuel and king Saul to kill everyone in Amalek including babies. As for shrines and deities, they are indeed powerful. But ask yourself; why did they allow the white man conquer Africa? Why are some of the things with these shrines and deities archaic such as killing twins? You know what? Gods, shrines, deities, prophets, miracles etc are nothing but the forces of the universe in action. Gravity, electromagnetic waves and the nuclear forces. That's why the African deities are still active but cannot stop the white man because the white man knows the workings of these forces more than the African. There is power behind the universe. We don't know if it's in human form or energies. But God as portrayed by the religions is pathetic. 1 Like |

izzy4shizzy:Thank you. And that's not the only misconception in that sentence. What people describe as the church is actually a mixed multitude comprising of people who have heard that Jesus fed thousands and are hoping to come and get theirs. That's why your phone or even offering can get stolen in the church. A church goer is not necessarily a member of the Christ's body, the church. The second misconception is for a mere mortal to suppose that he can grow the church! It's ridiculous to imagine. Three thousand were added to the church in Acts, in a single day! Not by money but by the power of the Holy Spirit. God does not need money to grow His church. Hard to understand but it's true. Can anything limit God? Money is just a controversial instrument. Sometimes God uses it, other times and I dare say most of times money is not required. 2 Likes |

Weeee: Nothing up there suggests that anyone is being forced to give. "Who wants to give...?" "If you have...and want to?" It is not compulsory to give, I've never seen a 'Church' that forces its members to give; members ought to give wilfully. 2Cor 9:7 Giving is a gateway for more blessings, it is good to give willingly; the bible affirms it. 2Cor 9:6 As for the poor Church members, they are responsible for themselves, one is not poor without his own consent...and yes, poor people should give. Mark 12:42-44 Do you have a problem with people giving wilfully? 1 Like |

Abeg thread carefully. It may neither be here nor there. I know where you were headed but it's easy at the same time to misstep. I usually feel that way but at the same time I normally will refuse to complain. Leave them and God. Church needs money but the way some pastors go about it leave much to desire. But at the same time leave it to God. 1 Like |
