NairobiWalker: This time am done for real. I've always come across threads like this and I never comment because I really don't see the point of comparing both countries. To be honest, I have never painted a picture of Nigeria as a giant till I joined this dumb thread, the idea is clearly hopeless, we don't even have stable electricity to claim that ish. Till then, am done Cheers 3 Likes |

Henrydone: Dude stop embarrassing yourself you clearly can't read. The graph and title clearly states "FASTEST GROWING" and not your own ego inspired "highest purchasing power" designed to sooth your ego.Clearly the light blue dots all with growth projected above all the orange dots . Any wise economist or investor will go for higher growth(all 3 kenyan cities are projected at 200% - 300%growth ) over a slower growing saturated or stagnant larger market.Nigerian cities are at the bottom with slower projected growth of about 50%. 1 Like 1 Share |

naijalander: South african economy is sofisticated, no one is really super rich, because almost the entire economymis owned by pensioners or pension money. white people might be at top position or CEOs but they dont own the businesses 100%. you must google PIC, this is a government company which administer the entire government employees pension. They control around $200bn, they are majority share holder in MTN, PPC, Vodacom. and they also own 5% of SABMiller which has been bought by AB Inbev with $104bn, that means they are going to get around $6bn from that deal. Its difficult to find a company in SA being owned by individual or an individual who owns more than 50%, its always a multiple shareholders in almost all the companies. 2 Likes |

obaaderemi: So what is your point of argument? If your country Nigeria is a hell hole dont stack it up together with countries that are actually trying to make progress... Not unless the countries you mentioned like latvia and Slovakia you suggest dont have challenges et al. Latvia has been suffering from recession while Slovakia has severally been embroiled in civil/political turmoil and unrest at particular periods, but the way this countries pick up the pieces determines their progression and growth. Eastern African countries are moving steadily in developing infrastructure and implementing billion of dollars in making East Africa one of the biggest business hubs. Current projects o that are turning heads are:- LAPSSET(Lamu Port South Sudan Ethiopia) project - This multi-billion dollar project starts at the Kenyan Coast at Lamu where the biggest free port in Africa is being built to cater for the larger Eastern African landlocked countries, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, DR. Congo and mainly Kenya. SGR(Standard gauge railway)- This will be the first longest inter connecting railway line between 4 countries in Africa capable of catering for 50m metric tons per year of cargo to wider east african Region. Electric Train- The first African electric train connecting 2 different capital cities was launched this September between Ethiopia and Djibouti Nairobi train Metro System- To be completed by July 2017 5 Likes |

@kenyastar,my point is that if nigeria is a hellhole,so is kenya.dont come here polishing shit.u spoke about big projects in kenya, have u heard of eko atlantic city?i doubt it u have something as audacious as that in east africa.kenya is a small country and small countries are better and easier to manage than big ones.hence, ireland does better than usa on hdi.kenya and nigeria are ranked among the low hdi countries.kenya with its small populatn and small landmass is ranked 145 out of 187 while nigeria is 152.nigeria exports whats under the ground[oil] kenya exports whats on it[flower and tea]so whats there to celebrate in the two.ur pple are not well catered 4,if they were u wouldnt have a low hdi.enough of ur lies.latvia that u deride exports electronics and computers,is europe,s fastest growing economy and its currency is stronger than the euro and the dollar. 3 Likes |

obaaderemi: I know the disappointment of your countries situation is making your bitterness protrude to bullying other African countries coz of the simple reason that they are trying to make a difference while Nigeria is in fact stagnated completely.... Those Europeans countries you mentioned are structurally strong simply because they are surrounded or neighboring countries that are politically, financially and economically strong in all sectors. A stronger neighbor and with strong economic values tends to have a trickle effect to its neighboring countries, reasons why when Europe was under recession countries that depended on tourism as their mainstay like Greece went bankrupt. The same to Kenya, when neighboring countries like South Sudan, Somalia, Rwanda, Burundi and DRC are facing political instability the Kenyan economy takes a massive beating. Take for example the Kenyan Currency 2 years ago the Kenyan shilling vs Major African currencies Kenyan Shilling African Currencies 1 Ksh 2.5 Naira 1 Ksh 20 Ugandan Shilling 15Ksh 1 SA Rand 30 Ksh 1 S. Sudan pound 2016 currency rate 1ksh 4.5 Naira 1ksh 33 Ugandan Shilling 7ks 1 SA Rand 15Ksh 1 S. Sudan pound The issue of stability in neighboring countries ensures regional stability as a key ingredient to a stronger Kenyan economy export market necessitating Kenya to spend billions of their own money(taht would have helped its own people) in trying to stabilize this countries by providing peaceful resolutions to war and political stalemate. Kenya has single handedly fought the Al shabaab menace in Somalia while the neighboring countries provide peace keeping forces. Our Kenyan government resolved the recent Burundi clashes that almost plunged the country into civil war. Kenya has been spending billions hosting refugees from across Africa. Kenya has alot to loose without a peace full Africa. 9 Likes |

About your Eko atlantic City We have our own bigger and better versions, infact 2 cities that have far more economic ramifications. Konza City- This is equivalent to the Silicon valley in the US, it goes by the moniker Silicon Savanah. All the technological multinationals are partners in a private-govermental funded program where the first African technology city will be built. Microsft, samsung, HSBC, Huawei etc. You can google the rest will set their base in Kenya. 3 Likes
