so in essence one can comfortably become and manage for instance a bank without any basic knowledge of banking or economics or accounting and then you can rate his performance at par with those that posses those qualities? How about being a driving tutor without knowing how to drive?

There is a difference between managing people and teaching people. There so many people in the banking industry that have no bizness there. Buh they grow in rank to become managers.

Bros, everything is just plain propaganda... Maintenance should be a normal routine, so I see nothing exceptional there.

Yes i agree with you it's not a big achievement and it should be routine, the snag is this particular routine maintenance was not done in the past 20 years until this year,
However, every knowledgeable and smart person out there know you can't conceptualize, design, build and commission a new 400 MW plant in 10 months, so it's our job to help the ignorant to understand this concept not join them in expecting new power plants overnight.

The only way to give quick intervention is to repair the units abandoned for a long time while new plants are under construction.
Do you know 400 MW out Ughelli power plant's 700 MW is shut in and idle simply because there is inadequate gas for obvious reasons. The company recently shelved a 1000 MW expansion plan this year since they still have idle capacity they can't fire due to gas supply constraints

Exactly!!! how did he add? I was looking for where he said he built new power stations, the alleged addition was from maintenence and because of rainy season that means it's not new! only in Nigeria that political office holders shamelessly boasts and wants to be praised for doing their jobs!! what a Shame!!!

And if they ask people who attended school to raise up their hand, the above poster to will join. To conceptualize, design, construct and commission a 400 MW power plant in 10 months shocked shocked shocked

But seriously, why is a large section of educated Nigerians this ignorant? Is it our stars or our educational system is so watery?

It's so disheartening and annoying that Fashola could sum up courage to make a public speech that power has improved.
It gets better today but gets worst for months.
Most of the transformers are old and obsolete.
Fashola should not use vandals as an excuse for poor power supply, 'cos there are many more alternatives to making sure Gas Turbines get adequate gas supply. Its either someone here is not thinking or not willing to accept suggestions!

Some people wont like this... grin

They prefer headlines like,
"Power drop to 0megawatt in the last two weeks"

Awon mofos

Those haters want Nigeria to die but yet, they can't boast of another country other than Nigeria. They will only die in millions like it has happened before any attempt to declare another Republic within a Republic.
F00lishhh morons. Dan banza kowai...

FASHOLA SPEAKS !!!

"Our government of yesterday expressed its preference for providing ‘infrastructure of the stomach’, giving handouts instead of real infrastructure.

“This is how the seeds of today’s recession were sown. For those who say that today’s government should stop talking about yesterday, with due respect, I disagree.

“Yesterday will remain relevant in understanding today in order to make choices that make tomorrow different and better.

“I once used the allegory of the patient, and I think it deserves repetition. If a patient complains about stomach pain, the first question that the physician is likely to ask is: ‘What did you eat yesterday?’

“The answer helps the physician make a diagnosis and choose a prescription first to solve the problem, and to recommend further dietary habits about what to eat and what not to eat. This is what the current leadership is addressing.

"That we wasted our money, we did not invest in roads, highways, bridges, schools and hospitals. Money was taken out of the larger society and invested in private accounts. The economy began to shrink, construction companies laid off workers, who in turn lost income, which resulted in shrinking demand for goods and services, and in turn led to national under-productivity.

“That was what we ate yesterday. The stomach pain is comparable to symptoms of bad dietary choices that manifest in the recession we now deal with.

“The solution is to spend on infrastructure, which has started. The recovery time is a function of what we can spend and how quickly it will go round… If an arid area of land has not witnessed rainfall in two to three years, you know what happens when the first rain falls. It literally disappears into the ground.

“In order to reach a point where any moisture is visible in the soil that may support the germination of a seed to be planted, more rain water needs to be injected. This is the best analogy I can offer for where our national economy is......."
