For example, neither Christianity or Islam condemn slavery. Both the quran and the bible's Old Testament encourage slavery. The New Testament admonishes slaves on how to be better slaves. But a completely earthly body in the form of UN has been working very hard to eradicate slavery! Legal codes recognize that justice and fairness to all provides the best environment for collective human progress, and there lies the basis for morality.
