What's there to be happy about? The in-thing to be asked is how have the oil been beneficial to the host communities and nigerians at large.

I find it funny that aa country shouting about diversifying her economy is still shouting and making merry about crude oil discovery.

Even if oil is discovered in the North in commercial quantities, it is in their interest to keep Nigeria one.

Because they need to export the oil....and if Nigeria is split, much of the exporting would have to be done via pipelines.....through a foreign country or countries ....which means payment of access fees....which can lead to crisis.

Better Nigeria remains one...and the oil can be exported without additional extra costs.

Sudan and South Sudan had that issue when they split. Sudan was demanding $32 per barrel of oil exported as access fees from South Sudan (South Sudan exports its oil via a pipe that passes through Sudan). South Sudan was saying they could pay $2 per barrel of oil exported. They almost went to war over the issue.

Dis is what d North wants,,,may we go our separate ways now??
