The ironic part is that Nigerian accent is the 5th sexiest language in the world.... Far ahead of English... It's only French, Spanish Italian and Portuguese that rank ahead of ud |

Not true, most Yoruba guys toast their babes with their local dialect. Infact you can't get a babe from that part if you can't speak the language. I experienced this first hand when I served in Oyo state. 2 Likes |

fratermathy: There was a secret camera there and you were on set Jenifa's diary. The guy in question is called Sege, or Falz, and lady is Jenifa. It's a shame you didn't wait to hear her talk too. Oh no, you missed oo. Anyways, I'll be on the look out for you in one of the next episodes of Jenifa's diary. People would think you acted as an extra. Lolz. Eh eh, outside of the set, no Nigerian talks like that. |

You wey dey blow grammar dey call suya kebab. No be only kebab na stick meat. What happens if I'm Igbo and the girl is Hausa, I should come and go and learn Hausa to toast her. Yarinya mai kyau! Ina so n ki!! Toh shikena... English is our lingua Franca and if she can't understand it, just use the universal hand gesture of putting the index finger of one hand into a hole formed by the index and thumb of the other hand. 3 Likes |

I believe at first, when you're still at the formal and familiarity stages English is seen as a language to show courtesy and respect, and when you realize the light is super green English still helps you once more to pass those dirty slang and informal messages you'd rather not want to in a local dialect. But most importantly we just assume English is a standard in passing information. As asking a lady out or "toasting" as it may be require you to pass your information as direct and short as possible without offending the lady. I really don't think our local dialect gives room for all the dirty slang used in "toasting". Cos unless you are Olamide, Phyno or Zaki who can say anything and get away with it, you'd either get a slap in a worse case scenario, she simply walks away or not give you attention at all. #myopinion 1 Like |

An0nimus: Kebab is not even English. Its either Arabic or Turkish. And Kebab is not exactly suya, it's barbecue that is suya. Kebab is like suya but not suya. The meat is grilled differently and when it is ready, it is served in a pocket of pitta bread, with some mayonnaise and ketchup used to garnish it. 2 Likes |

I don't see anything wrong in a man speaking English while wooing a woman. I only have a problem when the guy is speaking English that is worse than pidgin. 1 Like |
