BroZuma: Huhmnnn? BroZuma, I no dey receive at all. In fact, I have been giving and happily too. A few years ago, I saw the need to put a cousin, just a cousin, in a better secondary school with boarding facility. I just came back from Youth Service. On December 24 of that year, I took him to a big market and bought every item that was in the new school's prospectus. That trip left a huge hole in my pocket. I saw him through school. He is now a mechanical engineer. See, this thing is like a cycle:at some point, somebody looked out for you, so why won't you do so for someone else? We are Africans, not Europeans. 1 Like |

erico2k2: They always asked for money. Barack Obama (former American President) had the same problem with his family members from Kenya. He wrote about it in a book. I understand not every Nigerian will fully understand the issue the OP raised. The problem is real for many people. 6 Likes |

Op forget all these things you are saying! Na only person wey get time go dey carry other people burden for head. What If the first child has absolutely nothing and can't even feed himself? Of course the younger siblings are depending on him because he is giving them. If him nor get shishi for hand, other siblings too go find their way. 3 Likes |

The only sure thing is moral upbringing and thats the key plus its priceless. |

This is why I don't support pro-life, If you a parent and poor don't make the mistake of giving birth in short if you are a guy and you poor don't get married wait tin you blow besides our sperm is always fertile you can marry anytime giving birth to innocent children and then they come to the world just to suffer is not just worth it. 1 Like |

ivolt: God bless you. You hit the nail right on the head! Some respondents here are making the issue look like it is about parents having too many children, which it is not. Whether the children are 2 or 3 in number, the issue is what is the role of the eldest child towards his/her other 1 or 2 siblings? Do parents force responsibilities on their kids that they cannot handle? I doubt it. 1 Like |

I still dont get it..Maybe na cos of family mentality sha..No Body,I repeat Nobody fit push one brother or sister make he come dey live with me or make i come carry hin bills for head as if say na me born am.My immediate younger brother that schools at the polytechnic ibadan..he schools in the same area as i live..Dad and Mum first said he should come live with me.I said a Capital NO..cos i would have to look out for him every now and then when i never marry..I got an apartment for him in a place closer to school and i dey give am money and buy stuffs for him every now and then..my two little brothers..the last born wey dey U.I is the most understanding..he fit no ask money from me from months,na me dey even call am say how far, shey you go come carry foodstuffs or make i help you send money.. Parents still pay their sch fees, give them foodstuffs..they no dey talk say go meet ur brother every now and then..They did not make any one of them my responsibility while they are still alive. What i give them willingly na Jara..Just bought a Phone for one of them recently when he's phone got lost That is how it should be and not be held down by unnecessary family pressure.. 9 Likes |

Richy4: So to go with your line of reasoning, only Sudanese should have an issue with it since they are the only ones that are really "black". What an adroit way of living in self denial and avoiding to deal with facts that you may otherwise consider as unpleasant. The Europeans that first saw your ancestors called them black. You readily accept that label (I bet you don't go around arguing with people that refer to you as black) yet here you are giving me a little song and dance. 2 Likes |

Osahon7: Bros, the number of children has nothing to do with it. Before the 4th or 5th child is born, the parents normally would have started the first born in school, handiwork, etc. So normally he/she would come of age and start making money before the others. In that case, should he/she turn his/her back on the problems of the family? |
