Even in the diocese in my state, it is like that. Any priest that seems to be the Charismatic type gets transferred into one local village. Why do the big Fathers and Bishops always have problems with this type of radical fathers? This is why catholics jump from one prayer house to another because the one with that gift is never allowed to exercise it. God have mercy. 1 Like |

This is why I don't most times like nl , a lot of "children" are on this platform..am sorry sometimes it seems to me like "children forum". Issues are not articulated and exposed instead myopicness is glorified. Nevertheless, am glad the thousands of news that emanates from the forum. It is one-stop. |

calabardick: Actually he took the the decision that he believed that was best for him. I know these people, they don't like taking orders or corrections. He swore to listen to the Bishop. Some people are like that. They don't like to be under anyone but they want people to be under them. Pride has gotten better part of him. He lacks the humility it takes to be a Catholic priest. In the Catholic Church, you don't do what you want. You do as the church tells you to do. It's a free world. He was not called by the Bishop or man but in every church there are rules and regulations, and for you to be a pastor or member in any church you must the rules and regulations. 2 Likes |

Nofuckgiven:You should have read well and try not to speak too authoritatively about such issues. After submitting a resignation letter to the bishop he has to submit another to the Vatican and even with that he still isn't free to marry, he has to be separately dispensed from the vows of celibacy by the pope. This is canon law. CHAPTER IV : LOSS OF THE CLERICAL STATE Can. 290 Sacred ordination once validly received never becomes invalid . A cleric , however, loses the clerical state: 1° by a judgement of a court or an administrative decree , declaring the ordination invalid ; 2° by the penalty of dismissal lawfully imposed ; 3° by a rescript of the Apostolic See ; this rescript , however, is granted to deacons only for grave reasons and to priests only for the gravest of reasons . Can. 291 Apart from the cases mentioned in can. 290 , n. 1, the loss of the clerical state does not carry with it a dispensation from the obligation of celibacy , which is granted solely by the Roman Pontiff . Can. 292 A cleric who loses the clerical state in accordance with the law , loses thereby the rights that are proper to the clerical state and is no longer bound by any obligations of the clerical state , without prejudice to can. 291 . He is prohibited from exercising the power of order , without prejudice to can. 976. He is automatically deprived of all offices and roles and of any delegated power . Can. 293 A cleric who has lost the clerical state cannot be enrolled as a cleric again save by rescript of the Apostolic See . 1 Like |

Nofuckgiven:let me burst your head a little. Submitting the letter to the bishop doesn't even do anything, the person who can laicize a priest is the pope so until he submit his letter to the Vatican and his case is accepted he is just AWOL. Finally the vatican will not accept your laicazation case if you are not over 40yrs, so fr edet is just AWOL for now , when he wishes to resign he knows what to do. |

Ubenedictus:Hmmm. This is Christianity too? Where in the Scriptures can we see this? |
Re: Patrick Henry Edet Resigns From Catholic Church In Akwa Ibom (pics) by Ubenedictus(m): 10:04pm On Aug 03, 2017 |
701ecilana:There is no provision for resignation in the bible, infact the Church only allows it because she knows we are weak and doesn't wish to tie someone to an unpleasant situation, as such Church laws apply. The church is empowered to make such laws as matt 16 & 18 say "whatever you bind on earth is bound in heaven whatever you lose on earth is loosed in heaven" That gives the Church the powers to make rules for order as at when necessary. |

Re: Patrick Henry Edet Resigns From Catholic Church In Akwa Ibom (pics) by UnchangeableGod: 10:31pm On Aug 03, 2017 |
concho:It doesn't matter how long he has been in the system. Let's assume he has now discovered that he has been in error all these while? So he should still continue because he passed through virtually all the stages. Is the priesthood a cult? Do you know it is personal conviction and eternity that is at stake here? |
Re: Patrick Henry Edet Resigns From Catholic Church In Akwa Ibom (pics) by UnchangeableGod: 10:39pm On Aug 03, 2017 |
Pato23:You sound as though the priesthood is a kind of cult. Even at that, I've read of people who virtually dined with Satan that later came out. Sometimes, it is the divine plan for one to go a long way in evil or error before being brought out so as to know the deep secrets of Satan. So let the man be. |

Re: Patrick Henry Edet Resigns From Catholic Church In Akwa Ibom (pics) by UnchangeableGod: 10:58pm On Aug 03, 2017 |
9inches:There are living saints and there are departed saints. It is only the living saints that can pray for anybody (though not the dead). Departed saints (those now in heaven) do not have any business praying for or answering anybody's prayers. Leave Mary alone. She has lived her own life and gone to glory. Your best bet is to become a living saint by repenting of all your sins and accepting Christ into your heart as your personal Lord and Saviour. Then you live right by His grace, follow and serve Him till the end. Thus you will see Mary and other departed saints in heaven at the end of your life. May it be so for you and for me in Jesus' name, Amen. |

Andy2274:Sin is sin no matter which popular or unknown 'man of God' or which denomination is involved. "A sinner is not a Christian and a Christian is not a sinner". BTW, how do you know that people did not talk in those instances? Maybe you have not been following events. Please stop defending denomination and face Christ, the only Saviour. Get the salvation He procured for you at Calvary by repenting from sin and surrendering your life to Him. It is well with you. You shall not perish I J N, Amen. |

chipower:Please this vow he broke does it condemn him in the sight of God or man? You judged him as being disobedient, so you have become his judge. Please, I want to ask: What is a sin in a minister of God getting married and having sex with his own wife? This is what some people have been insinuating. If the man left the Catholic Church so that he can marry, IT IS ABSOLUTELY BIBLICAL. He needs experience as a married man to serve God and minister to others. Please read 1st Timothy 3:1-5. Verse 5 specifically rhetorically asks "if a man knows not how to rule his own house, how can he take care of the Church of God?" |

Nofuckgiven:You started your post well but ended it somehow. It is not the population of a denomination that counts, it is the number of people within that fold that are genuinely born again and have their names in the Book of Life. My friend, it is not all Pentecostal members that are after miracles. Of course, I am serving a miracle working God. He has done a lot for me and will yet do more. However, I am primarily after the truth that saves and keeps till the end. I want to serve God acceptably and get to heaven afterwards .It is also not all Pentecostal pastors that are after peoples' money. I am after sinners getting saved and getting to heaven. Thanks. |
