GSM/voice calls was once like this. When it gets to internet, we are not there yet in Nigeria, a reason for the breaks. In the states, it's way better. It just pennywise sometimes.

I hate Whatsapp call too. not clear and always disconnecting and reconnecting. Nigeria data service is not ripe for Whatsapp audio and video calling
