Like it or not that a fact my friend. The is a new defence review document that the minister is promoting and to me and other soldiers across the country is very good to us. That's a job well done to our lady minister.

The defence review that calls the military HIV ridden, and with the oldest Infantry troops in the world.

About that review, the document was completed in 2004, we are in 2014, 10 years on, you guys are still parrotting a non-existent review.

Goodluck with that, day dreamer.

That's a fucken LIE !!! Cause the said light attack jet is still under development and there is only one that as yet being produced - http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Textron_AirLand_Scorpion.

So, if it is still under development it cannot be sold? You are still an amateur in matters of defence. Industries in defence do not make production in advance unless they receive an order because it might be risky. Defence industries do not run business like car manufactures. Cars are always in demand while fighters are not due to the cost involved of procurement.

Oga, stop embarrassing yourself.

You don't buy a fighter which is still under development and untested.

So this is why you only have 8 qualified Gripen pilots for your fleet of 26 planes, since trainings and deliveries began.

Anyway, you're saying the same thing, as I am, only in a long needless manner.

In simply terms, you and the rest of your military personnel are simply to dull to qualify for anything. It's the same message your defence minister was passing across, only in a less hurtful manner.

You're only buying 12 JF-17s..... buhahahah

That's untrue, the defence review committee was convened in 2012 and was tabled before the parliament this year in 2014.

So much for the Su-30

Quote our defence minister saying that

You are confusing sources now

This guy doesn't even know when the reveiw was written or tabled

And yet feels entitled to comment on it!?!

Have you even read the document?

And implementation of then reveiw has already begun if you look at budget allocations for new equipment

JF-17 competes with Scorpion fighter jets.

Henry what is wrong with you?

How many times have we proven we have more than 8 pilots?

And yet you obsessively stick to the line?

It shows you devplved to a truly pathetic state

Show us where it says we only have 8

Your 8 pilots only came from a source which was spread by DA shadow minister of defence who cannot sit in defence meetings other than in parliamentary portfolio committee. However, his assertions were lies after all.

The fighter is no longer in development. It has passed its prototype phase and is ready for sales. Come on man, it is just a low cost light aircraft nothing big about it to go stage after stage as if it will be carrying stealth weapons.

Your airforce Chiefs and Janes are both credible sources

The defenceweb artical is based on quotes from both

Typical nigerian, any media outlet that says something they don't like is either "not credible" or "propaganda"

The guys who developed the scorpion said when they unveiled the plane that they were in advanced talks with the buyer

The plane is fully operational

They equipment you put on it is off the shelf

So yes, the second it was certified to fly in civilian airspace it was ready for sales

Hence why nigeria is desperate to buy them

The first was written and passed in the late 90's

This was one was commissioned in 2012 and finished last year. It was made available to the public early this year and is now before the defence standing committee

. NAF is not desperate to buy them, of a truth we need fourth generation jets to back up CION in the north east but @ d same time we will take our time to get d best, affordable and serviceabilty jets money would buy we,ve learn't our lesson from the jaguar sepecat . That was what I was telling someone what earlier this morning on the thread if no much country are not showing interest that means in no time they might be force to stop the production and making spare -parts rare! You would,nt want to fall into such situation the scorpion jets its new they started 2013 and right now on the U,S.A air guard is showing little or no interest and just of recent nigeria !

First, you dont need 4th gen. You need a CAS platform that is rugged and cheap. This is the Scorpion

Second, the Scorpion is made by Textron AirLand, a massive multibillion dollar company that is not going anywhere.

Third, if your lawyers have any skill, the deal to buy them will include multiple clauses referring to complete life-cycle support for the platform.

Fourth, the Scorpion was not designed for US needs. Its in the same catagory as the AHRLAC. Target nations are those that need CAS and ISTAR but dont have the money for advanced multi-role air-frames. Nigeria falls squarely into that category.

Finally, you need them NOW. There is a war on and you have no CAS platform that can deploy precision weapons. Inter-state deals for weapons acquisitions can take years to get underway - for example we placed our Gripen orders in 2000 and the first batch arrived only in 2006, the last batch only in 2011.

4th generation fighter will take you over seven (7) years for any Nigerian trained pilot and navigator to fly and combat effectively with that machine. It takes time to master weapon system, avionics, manuevrability, countermeasures and weaponry of 4th and 5th generation fighter machines. By that time, insurgency would have ravaged your country.
