First, i have allready posted how your missiles are inferior

Second, when and where do you train with the Pakistani Airforce?

Third, Pakistani Airforce has not engaged in major air to air operations since the 1970's. And only saw limited use as CAS in the Kargil war.

Fourth, how are they better trained? How many flight hours do they get per month? With fighter pilots skill is judged by flight hours. How many do yours have?

Fifth, F-7 does not stand a chance against the Gripen.

#Wrecked

Yes SAAF is wrecked with ONLY 25 missiles shared by 26 Gripen jets, each jet is armed with 25/26 = 0.96 missiles each grin grin

Each SAAF Grioen is armed with less than one missile each, world record disaster grin grin

I have posted photos of NAF and PAF joint combat training again on this page, I hated doing it, it's been repeated on this forum till people complained about the repetition, we should stop asking people to repeat old stuff here, try to show us that you SA guys are not having fish level of memory grin grin

Nonsense.

Your own Air force Cheif said:

- they cannot deploy proper munitions
- they are obsolete
- there are serious serviceability problems

NAF is buying jets because F7s are freezing in a deep freezer. Simple!!

NAF air chief confirms :

Our F-7NI fighter jets doing wonderfully in regular combat action till today.

Our Beechcraft 350ER ISTAR power aircraft are in war zone action all the time needed.

"Speaking further, the officer explained that but for the air attacks, “our troops would have suffered untold casualties, but that was prevented; instead, it was our troops that were killing those who resisted arrest, while most of them either fled or surrendered. There is the A-Jet and F-7 fighter aircraft for air cover and ground attacks. They also made use of the powerful M-24/35 attack helicopters for tactical and ground attacks. That was how we were able to rout them from their camps.”

Speaking in the same vein, a very senior officer of the Nigerian Air Force attributed the victory recorded by the troops to the sophisticated Jet fighters that are being used in the ongoing counter-insurgency operations coupled with the patriotism, courage and the professionalism of the NAF officers.

“We have a set of well-trained officers whose sense of patriotism and dedication to duty is never in doubt. Not only that, the Chief of Air Staff (Air Marshal Adesola Amosu) released all the needed fighter jets to us.

“There are C-130H and G-222 for airlift of troops and logistics, DO-228 for medical evacuation and light transport. ATR 42 and Beach craft mounted with cameras for surveillance and reconnaissance. There is the A-Jet and F-7 fighter aircraft for air cover and ground attack. Finally, we have the dreaded M-24/35 attack helicopters for tactical and ground attack. All these are employed one time or the other as the need arises”.

NAF F-7 jet in photo below shows sign of regular heavy cannon fire against enemy targets, when last did SAAF fire anything against a real live enemy that has ZSU-23-4 deadly 7km max range anti-aircraft guns ? During the fighting in Afghanistan and Chechnya, hits by rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) penetrated the BMP-1's armor in 95% of cases. This often resulted in the vehicle burning until the ammunition exploded.[35] Due to these limitations, Soviet/Russian soldiers customarily rode on the outside of the BMP, sitting on top of the hull while in combat zones.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMP-1

Gee, that free google thingy is great

So, lets get this straight, you are saying:

- an IFV which is used in such a manner that infantry ride ontop (without armor protection) is not a bad thing
- an IFV where troops cannot quickly get out is not a bad thing
- an iFV with bad situational awareness is not a bad thing

lol.

Same way RPG will tear SANDF Ratel, Rooikat, and Badger IFV into pieces, you won't even see your soldiers' bodies to put in body bags.

BMP-2 weapons are superior to SANDF IFVs and BMP-2 can swim a river where Ratels and Badgers turn back to go home !

You said the whole vehical was protected against 23mm (never heard of a 23mm cannon before shocked )

This is false, frontial arc only offers PARTIAL protection against 20mm

Welded steel armor of the BMP-2 provides all-round protection against 12.7-mm rounds. Front arc of this IFV offers partial protection against 20-mm ammunition.
http://www.military-today.com/apc/bmp2.htm

Yeah, maybe you should take some of your own advice and use that free google thing

BMP-2 Hull and Turret both have protection against 23mm cannon so it CANNOT be penetrated.

It is ISR by manufacturer spec data sheet. It can lock on target and relay its full location data to an attacker platform.

"Target acquisition is the detection, identification, and location of a target in sufficient detail to permit the effective employment of lethal and non-lethal means. The term is used for a broad area of applications" Source -Wiki

An ISR that can lock on target and keep relaying it's location accurately is doing Target Acquisition and its ISR becomes ISTAR.

NAF ATR-42 is an ISTAR aircraft along with NAF Beechcraft 350ER ISTAR aircraft, the ATR-42 is multi-role ISR, ISTAR, and MPA all combined
.

Nope ATR-42 has no target designation equipment

@THIZA has posted photos of ordinary gun armed Ratels with NO missiles, most of the photos in the world prove that SANDF has mostly gun armed Ratels, we see that from free internet photos. SANDF website simply used the best photo to represent other Ratels, and to close the case finally, your own respected South African source Defenceweb says you have ONLY about 50 Ratel ZT-3, even a fool will laugh at you, or you want to tell us defenceweb posted fraudulent numbers of Ratel ZT-3 ?

Butt Hurt grin grin

Like DENEL manufactured Mokopa missile which SANDF refused to order because the missile is useless. LOL grin grin

HERE YOU ARE, FVCKING MA.D MAN !

"On 18 May 2014, Swiss voters rejected a government plan to buy 22 Saab Gripen fighters for 3.1 billion francs (US$3.5 billion) to replace 54 aging F-5 Tigers of the Swiss Air Force. In response, Textron Airland president Bill Anderson offered the Scorpion to fill the Swiss Air Force's needs. He claimed it was cheaper than the Gripen and performed 90 percent of required tasks like airspace surveillance and intelligence. Though Anderson suggested the deal, no official offer for Switzerland to buy the Scorpion has been made.[36]

In July 2014, the Scorpion made its first public appearance at the Farnborough International Airshow.[18]

Preliminary discussion have been held with the militaries of Malaysia, Brunei, the Philippines, Indonesia, Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, with Malaysia and Brunei seen as the most likely customers. In November 2014, sources confirmed that the United Arab Emirates had held discussions with Textron." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Textron_AirLand_Scorpion

You said European Militaries were desperate for it. Where does it say that?

Nope 90% of the F-7 is the same as a Mig-21

The title of the artical says it all

The widely exported F-7 was nothing more than a Chinese licence production copy of the Soviet Era Mig-21 Fishbed

NAF is not counting hours to boast, we now count combat sorties, if you count hours, NAF pilots have more hours than NATO pilots today, we are flying every hour combat, logistics, ISTAR, etc missions.

I cannot fond the total sorties for NAF 2014 as the report is deep somewhere on this thread among many hundreds of comments.

However, I will post for one single NAF operation called Zaman Lafiya that had NAF flying over a thousand sorties in a just very few months around May 2014 :

"The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu, who made the observation yesterday at the opening of the NAF May 2014 operations seminar in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, said since the commencement of ‘Operation Zaman Lafia,’ to contain Boko Haram in the North Eastern part of the country, well over 1,148 missions have been conducted in the prosecution of the air effort.
“These include over 644 ground attack/close air support missions, more than 332 for reconnaissance/surveillance as well as over 172 for airlift and troop rotation. This sustained high tempo of operations is unprecedented in NAF and indeed, worthy of commendation,” he said."

SAAF only bought a few as we are going to be using the A-darter which goes into production next year. So from next year we will have an unlimited supply of missiles.

And 25 missiles is more than enough to shoot down every air-worthy jet in your airforce.

And again, what training with Pakistan, when, where? Not just photos.

And again, Pakistan have nothing to teach, their last major air operations was in the 1970's and only limited operations in the Kargil war

Saab has successfully carried out an important stage in the A-Darter missile programme with the first test firing verifying the integration between the missile and the Gripen aircraft.

The tests were held at the SAAF (South African Air Force) test area at Overberg, in South Africa. Gripen was chosen as the platform for these integration tests and has completed the them with outstanding result

The new 96 megawatt (MW) photovoltaic solar power project in South Africa's Northern Cape province is now online and will help the country meet its critical electricity needs.

The Jasper plant, near Kimberly, is the largest on the continent and can produce 180 000 megawatt-hours of energy a year for South African residents, enough to power up 80 000 homes.

The project was completed two months ahead of schedule and is fully operational, SolarReserve, the developer, announced on 11 November.

Jasper is located in a solar park near Kimberly that also includes the 75 MW Lesedi solar power project, which came online in May.

Also on the cards is the even-bigger 100 MW Redstone concentrated solar thermal power (CSP) tower. SolarReserve, along with partner ACWA Power, is bidding for the planned Redstone CSP project, which will use of SolarReserve's CSP technology with integrated energy storage.

As part of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP), a percentage of total project revenues from the Jasper project will be set aside for Enterprise Development and Socio-Economic Development for the benefit of the local communities.
