Engineers that do IT in computer centre, no wonder many of then pick ICAN form some years after graduation.

Medicine Rules!!!?

I said it earlier that the system is in a mess.
The reason why you see all those foreign expatriates is because of corruption to steal more money.
Nigerian doctors on the other hand are no better. An average Nigerian medical doctor graduate is useless abroad. They don't know anything. They have to go through series of training before they are allowed to practice. It's not the same for a foreign trained medical doctor.

All you people just do is to cram books written by someone to just pass. No critical thinking.

Only poor and average Nigerian with no choice make do of Nigerian doctors. Our politicians knows how ignorant u people can be.

You are right, Medicine is an Art, Medical students are like Apprentices, they learn from various teachers both dead and alive till they too advance in knowledge do more research and write their own books. It continues like that, that's why diseases such like malaria, measles, polio are no longer life threatening as they once were.

Nigeria Engineering school is nothing to write home about, you people are not being taught much, and the little you are being taught you can't even apply it to anything. I was never an Engineering student but i have experience with them from both BUK and OAU.

Your lecturers just give you handouts, set some tough questions for you, fail you and brag about failing you.

How many times do you go to the Laboratory in a week, what equipment do you have there? Are they useful and up to date?

Finally, do you know how many half baked Engineering graduates are being churn out on a yearly basis by a single school? You only get paid from where you work. Only few of them can be absorbed in the few industries we have in Nigeria, while majority will be posted to schools to teach science subjects.

It is jealousy and envy that will kill u.

Firstly, how many years did engineers spend in school pre nysc, just 5 years. Compare it to the number of years doctors spend in school pre nysc, 6 years, plus extra year for housemanship. And don't forget that 5 out of doctors 6 years are continuous, there's no semester break, unlike engineering students that have so many semester breaks and holidays, so by medical school standards, engineers spend less than 3 years in school.

Compare the cost of studying medicine and the cost of studying engineering, they pay higher tuition and their textbooks are d most expensive.

Finally, note that ur pay is based on ur productivity. If nysc engineers were serving in engineering and manufacturing facilities as professional engineers, then maybe their pay can be increased, but since they are working as teachers, then they ought to b paid as teachers. Nysc doctors serve in hospitals, doing their jobs as professional doctors, therefore, they are paid as doctors.

And for saying that doctors are useless without u pple because u made d machines they use, are u aware that u will not be alive today without doctors because sickness and disease for don kill u.

And how dare u compare mth and mee courses with with medical courses, engineering courses are childs play when compared withe medical courses. Seems u haven't seen ANA301 and PTH courses.

Lmao!

Furthermore, it's not a question of what you studied, but the kind of service you offer. A medical doctor working as a doctor in a busy clinic can't be compared with an engineer teaching secondary school physics twice weekly in one village school

If you are an engineer in the telecom industry, you will work thrice the time because all base station must be up 24hours not minding if there is a mudslide happening in the area. As you work, you solve new problems everyday from your head.

But in medicine, if there is no cure for a particular ailment, no doctor can improvise. They will leave the person to die.

Wow see stupid mentality that should be addressed. What Is there In medicine that yo re shouting,is it to cram and put down all the shiit
Have crammed or wht is special in theoretical courses
Yo spend all yo years reading and cramming what has been put down by someone without subjected to critical thinking and evaluation
Yo make use of book as if yo life depend on it because yo yoself don't even understand what it contains

Come to engineering field and see real analysis and thinking
Or do yo think engineering is just knowing a secondary school fundamentals calculations

And have it in mind all those medical courses yo just need to have yo 50percent and pass it
Because they don't make use of cgpa
And if yo aint very smart and brilliant at the same time yo could end up spending 7years taking engineering course which would have resulted from carry over
And who told yo that pple have not bn surviving before the damn existence of those medical crap we called doctors

And buying expensive textbooks means they would be using it even after their studies
Buh every textbook used by tech stdnt In any semester of his years of studies would never be used for the next semester
Thus yo must have known everything discussed on each textbook used for a particular semester

Bros I feel you.......According to the law of thermodynamics which express that if you are not in the system you are out of the system........Doctors are out of the Engineering system that's why they wont know what is happening there......I don't really blame them much but the "Nigerian Society of Engineers" Medicine is a child's play when it comes to Engineering they need to check out documentaries to see what we Nigerian Engineers are doing in the sea....they will learn to respect engineers....They should also know that Engineering is a practical thing and continuous changes with methods not an Orthodox as the case of medicine

I believe we have more half-baked so-called doctors than engineers.

Engineering is not all about what they teach you in school, it about critical thinking and inventions.

Medical students only learn from what is written in the book by someone (a researcher).
Engineering is INFINITY.

Modern medicine of today is made possible by engineers.

The most notable people that have impacted and shaped life are engineers.

They should also let Engineering graduates observe their NYSC in Engineering Companies or Science & Technology Research parastatals #IMO
That is the problem. Engineers corpers work as teachers.

And there is no way you can expect to be paid as much as people who work in a hospital.

If the FG starts posting engineers to oil firms, refineries and food manufacturing companies, doctors salaries will no longer look special.

The main solution is to stop posting graduate engineers to public schools.

you calling medicine a theoretical course shows how silly u are. Medical students that do practical everyday, infact, the course it self is practical compared to engineering students who do nothing but copying from textbooks..........come and tell us how many practicals u pple do...........what do u Nigerian engineers have to show for d so-called practicals.

In medicine, if u get above 70, u dont get pass, u get distinction. In medicine, there is no room for carryover, if u fail a course, then u repeat that year, fail it again, them u withdraw. Unlike engineering when u can carryover anyhow, infact in final year, the department even waives off carryovers for most students. Engineering courses that pass mark is 45, even primary and secondary schools have higher passmark. FYI, medical school does have semesters.

If u ain't smart, u can spend 12 years studying medicine and even b withdrawn in the 12th year.

Are you implying that engineers don't consult textbooks after school? Suffery lie na.

Have pple not been surviving before invention of lights, cars and other things.

Upon all d so called analysis u do, yet u nigerian engineers cannot make anything, so incompetent that we have to import technicians from India and China for most engineering work. Common toothpick, we import, cos our engineers have failed us.....

Like I said before, since Nigerians have seen u pple worthy only to working schools, teaching during nysc, then u will continue to b paid like teachers during nysc.

I will not waste my time arguing with u.....................but deep within u, u know medicine trumps engineering

bro take it easy, I used to think of it the same way as you, but on a closer look its not the fault of the medical students but largely that of the so called NSE and Coren all they care about is collecting money from ppl to do exams so you can finally be one of them. If you are not partnering with schools, helping with their curriculum, making sure whatever is been fed the students is what is really needed, if you are not exposing the students to practical workplace experiences, how would you expect me to pay such graduate something meaningful as salary.
You may claim swep, siwes, and I.T. have done that, but wait a minute, how many of my guys did the last siwes program and how many are going to participate in the I.T. program, most of that time will be spent playing games, some looking for money, and I actually don't blame those looking for money cos they know some of you will do I.T and not get the money from I.T.F government promised you and the companies won't even pay, that's if you even get a company in the first place,

Y a medical student already as a place to gather as much experience as possible, the so called NSE and COREN can't make school partner with companies in their region so every student as a placement for all attachment programs and are duly monitored during d program.(not the type that I already knew my supervisor from school will be coming next week then I make sure am present when he comes)
and on government's part they could have done more with their NUC accreditation stuff by really monitoring schools and seeing to it that engineering graduates have really been thoroughly bred.

I think things will continue this way, except the engineering regulatory bodies first take the future of the profession serious, after which it will be easier to make demands from the government,

for me I do want more than the 19800 bt it will be unfair to castigate the medical graduates over our regulatory authorities inefficiencies.
