I could not hold back tears after i saw this thread on frontpage...https://www.nairaland.com/4394781/congolese-man-beats-wife-death If there is one thing I'm most certain about,it is the fact that the signs have always been there but this lady probably ignored them. Many ladies have been advised to stay with a violent husband for the sake of the children or to avoid what people will say but I see this as a very dangerous advise that may cause the lady her life. If you are a lady in an affair with a man whether dating or marriage and he raises his hands to hit you and he apologizes please forgive him and assume it's a mistake if that is his very first time but if he does it again please run cos it is a habbit he may never stop. If he comes back begging and you are not yet married to him please forgive him but don't risk it but if you are already married to him please make him sign an undertaken in any human right center or police station that he will never raise his hands to strike you again.Dont allow foolishness in the name of love make you stay with a violent man cos your life is far worth more than a miserable union. No woman should disrespect her husband or man in anyway but no man has any reason to raise his hands to beat any woman because it is an act of insanity and any man who does that is a beast that should not live among humans but in the jungle with wild beasts like him. And same goes for the violent ladies who are fond of destroying items or threatening with knives or dangerous object whenever they are angry...Any man faced with this type of woman should also run as far as he can if she exhibits such act repeatedly. I hope this makes sense. 37 Likes 2 Shares

The major problem is that partners of these days no longer pay attention, learn and observe the necessary things they are suppose to observe from their partner while courting and dating. They date with misplaced priorities, they don't put to test to dictate some possible unforeseen trauma. 37 Likes 3 Shares |

No woman should disrespect her husband or man in anyway but no man has any reason to raise his hands to beat any woman because it is an act of insanity and any man who does that is a beast that deserves to live in the jungle Your spouse must 'disrespect' and annoy you in several ways [he/she is only human]. That's why marriage is for mature, understanding and tolerant people. If the 'disrespect' turns into abuse and every means of addressing/correcting it fails...please leave and live. The earlier you leave, the better for us all. There is also no need to flex your muscle on anyone, male or female...except in self defence. Note that you can't defend verbal/emotional abuse with punches or knives. This applies to the men battering their wives and the women stabbing their husbands. 58 Likes 5 Shares |

I beg to disagree. Please ladies if a man raises his hand to hit you, RUN. I repeat RUN!!!. It's never a mistake and there is no excuse for that. Don't ever take it from any man. If he likes let him apologise for 10years don't listen to him. Do not ever think you can change him and do not make excuses for something that is wrong. There are several ways of dealing with anger and hitting a woman IS NOT one of them. 51 Likes 4 Shares |

912: Bad advice because it is liable to mislead. Anyone can lose it, even God (as recorded in the Bible). Yes, it can become a habit but only for those who are predisposed to violence. There are various forms of spousal abuse and many of us are guilty of it even without knowing. An example of spousal abuse is leaving home because your wife annoyed you and putting her in emotional distress. If everyone acknowledges these examples of spousal abuse, then no one would be qualified to marry. 22 Likes |

BluntBoy: Well said. Sometimes you're truthful . So many of us, if not all of us are guilty of one form of abuse or the other. Some men get their own for body, what of always refusing to eat wifey food...when he knows it hurts her psychologically. That's why I said, your spouse must disrespect you. when it defies all means of reconciliation, then they can go their separate ways. It will take a lot for me to hit someone though... 7 Likes 4 Shares |

Ladies! When your fathers were beating you. You did not run?! When your Mother was beating you. You did not run?! When your friend slapped you for gossiping about her. You did not run?! Okay. Why run Now?! Infact The only thing that should make a woman run. Is the size of her husband's preek. 13 Likes |

Toks2008: Yes, it is better to leave but it should be for positive reasons and not merely to put the woman in unnecessary distress. Some men leave simply to punish their wives. However, I think the best thing to do is to resolve the issue right there and then. 5 Likes |

AntiBrutus: Don't mind those ones Some elderly men even give younger men such advice: "When your wife annoys you, don't eat her food or refuse to have sex with her". Disrespect just can't be ruled out in relationships. It would happen, except when one of the partners is a robot. No one is perfect and our imperfections would always reflect in our relationships with one another. 8 Likes 3 Shares |

BluntBoy:what of if the woman is yelling at u and clapping her hands at ur face or even hitting at u.its like u haven't met some psychotic drama queens.bros its better for the man to pick his car keys and quietly leave the house for the woman so she should cool off and if need be for him not to explode. 23 Likes 1 Share |

BluntBoy:the only time i know elderly men give advice to the younger married man not to eat his wife's food is when the wife commits infidelity outside marriage and the man somehow knows about it.its adviced that such a woman would undergo some sort of cleasing b4 the husband resumes eating the food.that an elderly man would be advicing a younger married man not to eat his wife's food cos they had a domestic tussle is somehow oo.in normal circumstances the elderly ought to mediate b/w the two couples. 3 Likes 1 Share |

BluntBoy:Beating your girlfriend or wife shouldn't be condoned by any lady that has self respect and should never be done by a man that is responsible. There is absolutely no excuse for it whatsoever. Whether you are drunk or sober you should never lay your hand on a woman. Worse case if the atmosphere is tensed walk away and sort it out later. Yes you guys can have heated arguments but a real man must never beat up a woman. That's just wrong. And any woman who would forgive such behaviour doesn't know what she is getting into. So my advice to any lady that is in a physically abusive relationship is: if you still have any self dignity, RUN!!!!!!!! 13 Likes 1 Share |

Toks2008: This second chance ish is just something people say to excuse bad behaviour. There are some instances where the second chance card can't be used and beating a lady is one of them. You want to give him second chance so he can kill her right. When a man knows that the lady he claims to love would definitely leave him if he tries that nonsense, he will be more careful and treat her with respect. Besides how many of their male friends have they beaten up because they made them angry? I'm guessing zero and that's because they will definitely fight back. But because the lady is seen as a weaker person they will gladly lift their hands at the slightest provocation and I say that's unacceptable. 19 Likes 3 Shares |

I'm not sure I'll give a second chance to any man who as much as raises his hand on me. Whatever made him lose it, is most likely going to be more intense in marriage. As a kid, when my immediate elder brother and I used to fight, and of course he'd beat me up real good, I used to hate him at those very momemts. Several times, I thought of picking up an object to hit him. It was the only way I felt I could win. But I thank God for always setting my emotions right. However, I wouldn't want to find myself in that situation ever again, especially from a husband. So, if I see the slightest sign that a man would be abusive, I'd flee without looking back. 8 Likes 1 Share |

912: I agree. For him to even do it at all shows that it is in him and it is a warning sign that should not be taken for granted. Spouses annoy each other countless times, it doesn't mean the man has the audacity to hit the woman. Can she also beat him when he annoys her? 4 Likes 1 Share |
