I was actually left handed. I was beaten out of it, I remember being told that the left hand is of the devil and the right hand is of the child of God. Tormented me, I wanted to go to heaven  I think ppl are misguided because of a lil line in the bible that talked about the right hand of God. But after a while, I tried to re-learn writing with my left hand, not possible. Abeg, left-handed men are sexy jor. . . . sth abt left hand, just too sexy! [This does not pertain to Nigerian men, if you're ugly, you're ugly. Left hand wont help that] |

I was never persecuted for usin' my left hand while growin' up.I use the hand to do all things except shake hands. Funny enough,being left-handed affected my learning to drive and handling tools especially the knife. My supervisor almost ate my head while i was carryin' out my project work.He just didn't understand why i should use my left hand to inject lab mice(presumption that the left hand is weak,useless and only good for wiping the behind). My dad never let anyone beat me and i didn't know how odd it was till i entered boarding school. Right now,am eating with my left hand. 1 Like |

i rmb sth that hapd while we were in school then, my friend and i both walked out of the library he was left handed. he gave the books he wanted to borrow to the librarian with his left hand(which was perfectly normal to him). the librarian shouted at him and told him he was not only being disrespectful but should take note he was not part of my friends circle. i was abit confused by his last statment and when my friend had calmed down i found out later that it meant the librarian taught my friend was in cult and was trying to identify with a fellow cult person by using his left hand. totally weird huh i also rmb buying things when i was younger and paying money with my left hand and the traders refusing to collect the money just cos it ws given with my left hand, |

I experienced so many scolding of my left handed folks when i was little, most of them became somewhat ambidextrous as a result.Left handers are really gifted in the arts especially when it comes to drawing.Though i am right handed, i noticed my lefthand hardly missed a target when i was in school so i took advantage of it. I cause quite a lot of damage then.But nw am cautious so as not to put my self in soup |

eldee: I don't seem to have it in my genes. But since most of my intelligent friends are left handed, and my professors too, I'll be glad to have left handed children. Infact nowadays, when I see a left handed person, I just immediately assume he/she's a genius. Our parents take gift from God as devilish? smh |

Seems to me you all are making this out to be much more than what it really is, and you seem to be vexing the wrong thing. To properly understand this, you'd have to also understand that there are two aspects to this issue. 1) Culture -- As a simple matter of cultural courtesy, transactions are carried out with the right hand (or both the right and left hands). Doing otherwise is seen as disrespectful/insulting. Similar to how not using two hands for transactions, in Japan, is considered insulting/disrespectful. 2) Actual hand orientation -- Being left-handed/right-handed is a different issue. People are typically scolded for violating the first aspect. The second aspect is typically a non-issue. . . Well, at least, that's how it is in my culture. For us, people are not scolded for simply being left handed. They're scolded for violating a norm of cultural courtesy. Maybe, for other groups, people are scolded for being left-handed. Now, if that (people being scolded for being left-handed) is what you all are vexing, then I would understand. What I wouldn't uderstand though, would be you all are vexing the norm of cultural courtesy. So which is it? Which one are you all vexing? |

Permit me to say this, it was never a crime to use your left hand were i grow up. But i would like to advice that everyone should make it a point of duty to master the use of both hands that is ambidextrous it will help a lot . |
