He swore an oath to defend this country from all enemies, both foreign and domestic and with the way things are Buhari is this nation's number one enemy. Can you imagine a president comparing two killings of different religions? Oh please Atiku helped saved us from Obi's third term. Go and read please and stop being petty. |

Elliot2: I think I should rephrase my word. I mean to say Only a few 'politician' can perform better than him. I am not him supporter I am just been honest there was another quote of yours that "A vice president whose loyalty lies with the people and constitution, will not have his voice silent in crucial matters despite his portfolio" I quite disagree that he is silent, You know the Constitution failed to recognize VP's voice unless the president is absent. No VP in history has ever overruled the president on his own. He cannot command the military because he is not the president nor acting president But I agree with the fact that his resignation will be better but it might be brutal because if a pastor's mouth is shut what will happen to a Christian (who is just a church goer) ? |

Elliot2: Those countries developed because they have good president not because of good VP Even if all the citizens are good a bad president will make a bad country Remember how David Cameron said Nigerians are fantastically corrupt. He said that because we have corrupt leaders but he generalised the statement. |

Wiseandtrue: Osinbajo had left people down no doubt But I don't think we should totally condemn him. Atiku didn't have the power to stop OBJ without the House of Assembly. It was the Senate President and Speaker that helped Atiku. But let's look at Osinbajo's situation he wanted to embark on an unconstitutional assignment (i.e checkmating the president) so he need the help of the Senate President and Speaker who are also Muslims (and Muslims are happy with the killing of Christians). If you are in his shoes what will you do? N.B I am not supporting him as president but I am only giving my honest view. 1 Like |

DynasTee:Body language matters alot! Osibanjo is well learned, I had thought I would see his brilliance in display with the kind of power he wield We are talking about a SAN for God's sake who also doubled as a VP Buhari should even think twice before doing anything if I have the kind of power he has Who exactly is he? Is he living the life of Buhari Shouldn't he be himself For me Atiku is very brave, I know he is not a saint but he could have kept quiet but no! he made a move! He has the money, one could say he is self sufficient so why bother with 3rd term saga! But NO, he saved us all, from a antecedent which would have become a norm when set! He wasn't in support of what OBJ was doing and it was seen through his actions Just like Pharoah, he washed his hands which cost him his friendship with OBJ till date! what a sacrifice If your name must be remembered by the people you claim to serve, You cannot sit on the FENCE! Osibanjo is neither here nor there and that for me is not good! By his silence he has wiped his name off the heart of people who once loved his activeness when PMB was not around! I ask you once again, will Osibanjo be this docile if this great injustice is melted out to his family Doesn't he think of those people he intend to serve as a family Is that why he is silent What move has Osibanjo made at all 1 Like |

Wiseandtrue: No one will be happy to directly suffer Injustice not even Osinbajo no doubt But in 2004 when OBJ was the president Christians killed some Muslims in Plateau both OBJ and Atiku didn't react to the killing until the Muslims retaliated and killed Christians in Kano Is Atiku happy with the killing of Muslims? No, but the Constitution didn't not permit him to react. Atiku successfully stopped OBJ' third term ambition because the Constitution stated clearly that a president cannot serve more than two terms. which was easier compare to giving instructions and commands to the president. The Constitution gave all power to the president and no one can checkmate him (you remember what happened when the House of Assembly invited Buhari recently) expect for GROSS misconduct (the word 'gross' made it really hard to define) Osinbajo is surrounded by evil and religion extremists so he is just being careful about his choice of words. |
Re: Who Would you prefer to be Nigeria next president?. by Wiseandtrue(f): 9:24am On May 08, 2018 |
DynasTee:Constitution did not permit VP to condemn killings please which part of the constitution says that But constitution permits Osibanjo to speak on the proscribed of the IPOB look, your assertion has made me to realise that Osibanjo has no mind of his! He is more of a lap dog sorry for being blunt A man's action defines him! So what will Osibanjo be known for At the end Buhari will still fling him aside Then just like so many VPs who have left that post no one will remember him Constitution never encourage anyone to kill so as a custodian of such constitution shouldn't he have a say Osibanjo cannot be the president of this country cause he simply don't know what he is doing 1 Like |

DynasTee:I agree with you to an extent, that what really matters is the president. But it is my opinion that a VP who has his loyalty lying with the constitution and the people will not be silent on important matters were he feels he has superior understanding of issues. You see,he will not stay idle and watch a tyrant president! That is number one. He has an option of resignation if he has a strong reason to disagree with the president on the method of governance, especially that which goes against his ideology. The truth is that, our leaders don't have personal ideologies on what governance should be,and that is why the bandwagon effect greatly undermines the quality of leadership. (the president enjoys too much power and followership, whether he is a tyrant or not). |
Re: Who Would you prefer to be Nigeria next president?. by Elliot2(m): 9:51am On May 08, 2018 |
DynasTee:If resignation is the only power a VP can exercise, then he should honorably do so. That message is quite clearer in instances of a tyrant president. I still stand that Osinbajo will not make a good president; he has been so lucky to enjoy an enormously great but undue respect from the masses and the president himself. But that respect has not transformed him to bringing any ingenuity to the system. I can not see him bringing any new ideologies into bear that which is different from the normal politicians ways. So,the failure of this government remains his failure. |
Re: Who Would you prefer to be Nigeria next president?. by DynasTee: 9:53am On May 08, 2018 |
Elliot2: The truth is the Constitution has failed in some areas especially with the power it has given to the president. For instance, the Constitution stated that the VP and Ministers can ONLY advise the president and it lies in the president's discretion to take the advice or not. So we didn't have fact to back up our claim that he is doing nothing and not giving advice to the president. But I don't think his resignation will help the situation on ground because when a SAN and Pastor cannot defend Christians who will? If he resigns Buhari can decide to select a Muslim as VP (the Constitution allowed it) so that no one will checkmate him again. |
Re: Who Would you prefer to be Nigeria next president?. by DynasTee: 10:15am On May 08, 2018 |
Wiseandtrue: Osinbajo spoke against IPOB because he was the Acting president and not a VP. Why did you think a deputy governor or a VP would want to become a president? obviously because they had no power deputising someone and they have seen and wanted to taste power. The Constitution gave no power at all to the VP to stop killing. the VP cannot even commands the military that is why the post of VP can be vacant for years but the post of the president cannot be vacant for 24hours. The post of a VP (his view and opinion) is inconsequential except the president takes his advice. Osinbajo condemns killing but he cannot stop it. He cannot even commands the military because he is not the president. The Constitution stated that the VP and Ministers can ONLY advise the president and the president reserve the right to take the advice or not. |

Elliot2: Resignation has never and will never change a tyrant president. The president is aware of his intelligence and that has even reduced the level of violence and killings. If Osinbajo resigns who will save Nigeria from Buhari's tyrant ruling? What will happen if Buhari decided to select a Muslim VP like Fasola or Tinubu? Osinbajo is not saving Nigeria, however he is a factor that the violence has not spread to Southern Nigeria. Osinbajo always condemn killing he even visited some affected areas when he was Acting president. But with the restrictions by the Constitution how did you expect him to stop the killing? |

OFFICIAL336: Did you know why did well as Acting president and failed as President? The Constitution gave no power at all to the VP. tell me a VP that has ever overruled the president.
