Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by ijebuman(m): 10:56pm On Jan 19, 2006 |
@@nferyn Used to be a big Prince fan, i loved 'Kiss, I wanna_ be your lover, Alphabet street, 1999, When Doves Cry' and then his stuff with the new power generation.. and then he went through that crazy phase in the 90s when he changed his name to a sign. (thats when i moved on ) |
Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by nferyn(m): 11:21pm On Jan 19, 2006 |
ijebuman:Well, he's never been quite normal, has he His newer work is still OK, but no longer of the level of his earlier stuff. I've been to two of his concerts, the most amazing performance you can imagine (haven't had a chance to go to an afterparty, though ) |
Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by AguNwoke(m): 12:50am On Jan 20, 2006 |
bagoma: I dey for planet earth o! Jus saying ABBA - from a SOUL perspective when compared to Kurtis Blow, Cameo, Teddy P, Dazz Band, Floaters etc abba was not all that!! Good for taxi music though |
Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by ijebuman(m): 1:08am On Jan 20, 2006 |
nferyn:Shame i never saw him live but i've seen his performances on TV so i can imagine what it'll be like. AguNwoke:have to admit i did go through an Abba phase too back then, i remember 'Dancing queen' quite well And still on the 80s who was a big Michael Jackson fan back then (before he was 'bad' and 'dangerous') come on you can admit it |
Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by AguNwoke(m): 1:13am On Jan 20, 2006 |

Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by Oiza(f): 7:22am On Jan 20, 2006 |
@ ababoy1, done. Thanks. Abba's music was not dancing music as such...but it certainly was important music in those days. And Boney M, Shalamar... Whacko rules o...forget all that drama, the man/boy knows his business... BTW, did this turn out to be the 30's forum? |
Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by ababoy1(m): 7:43am On Jan 20, 2006 |
@Oiza & Bagoma - OK - Till I read from you. |
Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by nferyn(m): 8:16am On Jan 20, 2006 |
ijebuman:I was very much a Michael Jackson fan when he still looked like a human being and not like a wax doll for Madame Tussaud's. Didn't have the money then to buy any records, copied thriller from LP to cassette and made the cassete cover myself. I still have that tape Started to appreciate Prince more, especially after Parade, never went back to Wacko Jacko. That was about the time I expanded my musical horizon a little: Sly and the Family Stone, U2, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Jazz (Coltrane and Miles Davis), ... |
Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by freshsmile: 8:21am On Jan 20, 2006 |
Whats your fav music these days? keeping up with the times. |
Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by ijebuman(m): 12:28pm On Jan 20, 2006 |
AguNwoke:nice icon mate He definitely knows the business, (shame he lost the plot). Saw him in concert in the early 90s and it still ranks as the best live show i've ever seen. I still remember the first time i saw the video for 'Billie Jean' (back in the days of NTA2 and the LWT musical video show ) i can still do those moves o |
Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by CimonJorr(m): 1:35pm On Jan 20, 2006 |
I must confess... I once upon a time liked Micheal.. My all time favourites of his were "I want to Rock with'ya" and "Human Nature"... The thing about him is that he's very unpredictable.. Even till now, on almost every album, you'll always find one reasonable song, and then a bunch of crap.. but the dude is gifted.. I wont take that away from him... @ Freshsmile... I'm still a R&B buff... Delving into the occasional Rap and HipHop... Followed the trends from New Edition, through Boyz2Men, R.Kelly... the works... Right now, my "following" include an ecclectic mix from John Legend (I remembe when I used to love u), JayZ (Dirt your shoulders off), Lenny Kravitz, Kanye West (Gold Digga ), and Fifty 'kobo'(too many to mention here, but most recently, Magic Stick).. But BIG UPs to the Naija R&B scene... My heart is really gladdened that we used to and still have local songs which compete with the international scene.. 'Oya' by TrybesMen 'Olufunmi' by Stylz Plus Even the oldies by Mike Okri, Dizzy K Falola, Bonney Mack (I still reckon this fella's a Naija dude) and Baba himself.. may his soul Rest In Peace... they are simply Unforgetable.. freshsmile: @ AbaBoy, My brother, I beg no vex.. still trying to make up my mind on which songs to request from you, make I no be like "Oliver Twist".. Will get back to you ASAP... Lawd, I'm having fun.. |
Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by prettyH(f): 1:57pm On Jan 20, 2006 |
nferyn: Lol, Nferyn how mean can u be Apart from his frightening appearance, Micheal's songs are still wonderful to listen to any day any time. Guys does anyone have links to where i can download nigerian songs. Pls i need it asap. |
Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by nferyn(m): 3:05pm On Jan 20, 2006 |
prettyH:I still list Thriller as one of the best CD's in my collection, regardless of Michael's appearence. And, I wasn't mean, I was just stating an objective fact, although I used provocative language for effect |
Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by prettyH(f): 3:49pm On Jan 20, 2006 |
